I keep reading about this problem that the check engine light keeps coming on and the code is for low oil pressure. I have been told to have the PCM flashed. Yeah well the dealer wants 120.00 to do 15 minutes of work. This crap shouldn't be even happening in the first place. There is a problem and it seems Dodge doesn't want to admit it. My truck had roughly 22,000 miles when it started and now it has 40,600 miles on it and it happens at least every three months. I have a code checker and I'm able to see the code and clear it. With all the forums on the net and with all the people having the same problem Dodge should be doing something about this. I should not have to pay a dime to have the computer flashed to make it right. If I did something that would make me have to flash it then I would say yes it is my responsibility but, I did nothing but change my oil, oil filter, air filter, all other fluids, transmission, rear end fluid, new brakes, etc. I myself in my life nor in my family have ever had to get there computer flashed on any car or truck owned. This is a problem and it is bullshit that Dodge would even have the balls to ask me to pay for this. They have a problem with the oil sending switch and computer. They should have to fix it. I even own a 2008 Dodge Nitro and there are at least 3 recalls on that. I'm still waiting for them to call me back since the end of May 2013 to get the parts. Something with the drive shaft and they said its not a safety issue. I think there full of sh*t. They said they have no permanent way of fixing the problem yet but they have a temp way to fix it. Never buying a Dodge again! Glad there paid off

At 63,000 miles I noticed the oil pressure began dropping and that the engine started knocking. I got it to a dealer who told me that I wasn't doing oil changes. I got all my receipts and proved them wrong and they told me they were not going to be able to warranty it and that I was looking at $7,000.00 + in repairs. I began to research and found out some dodge hemi engines were plagued with factory defects in the pouring process and that it was causing sludging in the sidewall due to over heating of the oil in the engine. I took it to another dealer over 50 miles away and they said that it was covered but it would take months for the approval process and it would take a long time to break down the engine and list each damaged part piece by piece for the approval. If the damage did not exceed a certain point they would rebuild the engine and that would be it. Fortunately for me the itemization exceeded the repairs test to get me a new engine. I got my truck back 6 months later.

Notice that I am now a Former Dodge fan. I spent over $1,000,000 in Dodge and Chrysler vehicles for myself and my business and I will never do this again. I was fortunate that I bought the extended warranty or I would have LOST BIG TIME!

I have a 2007 Dodge Ram 1500 with a Hemi, was having problem with slight over heating and had it to the dealer, no problem found however I began to have low oil pressure and eventually it would drop out all together, I would shut off the engine and wait 5 to 10 minutes and then restart and the oil pressure would be fine until it dropped out again. I have had the oil changed at least every 4000 miles by a reputable mechanic or dealer and was told toward the onset of the problem that I was sludging up. I took the truck to the dealer and this is what the said Quote (Engine sludging up not under warranty) end quote. I was not told why and no other info available. I tried to get more info from the dealer and they literally avoided the conversation saying they were not aware of any problems and that I should gather the information regarding my oil changes. Nothing else. I was told by a separate mechainc shop not tied to dodge and he said their has been a lot of problems with sludging in the Hemiis and that it was due to poor circulation, poor heat transfer and possible oil pump failure over long term. My mechanic has stated he thinks mine is due to a high engine heat problem and he knows of my maintenance past and assures me this was premature engine failure do to faulty engine not maintenance.

Driving Truck down the interstate and a check gauge lite appeared and I had a hard time determining which gauge was malfunctioning. Well it was my oil pressure gauge reading Low. I immediately pulled over and checked oil level and it was 1/2 quart low so I put a half quart of oil in and started the engine back up and the gauge went up then immediately back down to low. Engine had some minor rattling so I figured it was not an oil sending unit but rather an oil pump issue. Took it to the dealership and I had a call saying your fully covered under the warranty program and there's no deductible. Frlt relieved. Then received another call and they needed my oil change records. Got pass that then I received a call telling me how their warranty really works. You will be charged $500 to drop the oil pan and if they find sludge or blockage in the oil tube you will be required to pay this infull and your warranty will be voided! Naturally when they drop the pan there's blockage! If the oil pump is not working correctly , oil will sit on bottom of pan and turn to sludge. Oil changes will not drain out the sludge.But it's apparent that Dodge has some apparent issues with their oil pumps and this is their way out of having to pay for damages, blame the buyer! It's obvious that I will never ever buy a Dodge again and will do every thing in my power to keep others from making the same mistake. Don't trust Dodge when they tell you are fully covered read the fine print or ask them for a copy of their internal warranty claim procedure.

I have a 2007 dodge Ram 1500 4.7L v8. Just like a lot of people my oil pressure goes down to nothing. After countless and countless hours and 3000 dollars later my mechanic found a hairline crack in the crankshaft. he tapped it with a ball peen hammer and it broke right in two. I took it to a dodge dealership n showed it to two of their mechanics and the told me that it had been cracked for a very long time n that is probably y I lost oil pressure. They also said it probably happened before the engine was even put in the truck. I am currently waiting on dodge to see if they r going to own up to their mistake or not. I will comment when my engine is back together to see if that is the problem n if dodge does anything about it. Hopefully this will help everybody having this problem.
