On the way back to buffalo Missouri at approximately 4:30pm ( traveling 65mph), the right rear tire started to make a very loud winding sound and shake. I slowed down to approximately (55mph) and the tire blew out the sidewall, causing my truck to severely fish tail in the middle of a two lane road, narrowly missing on-coming traffic. On September 14th, 2017 I took my truck and blown out tire to jbc tire and automotive (authorized dealer of cooper tires). Josh moutrey was the manager on duty. I informed of the blow out. Josh and his mechanic checked the tire of any foreign debris, nails or cuts in the tire. After the inspection on the blow out and the other tires, josh stated that the tread on the three remaining tires had excessive wear (lf hi:5, low:4; rf hi:5, low:4; lr hi: 5, low:4). On the blown out tire from the rr tire they found no foreign debris, nails, cuts or any reason that the tire should have blown out the side wall. Josh called cooper tire and rubber at their 800-573-9523 customer service number and talked to the on duty supervisor (doug). I was listening on speaker to josh and doug discussing the tire. Josh stated that all four tires were: Discover AT3; 265/10/17; dot# ut1Y 1A6 3214 on all 4 tires came from the same batch# and lot#. josh stated to doug that there should be no reason the rr tire should have blown and that there was no foreign debris found. Josh stated to doug that the only reason for the blow out was manufactures side wall defect. Josh also, stated the remaining three tires had excessive wear beyond any normal wear for tires rated at a 60K mile warranty. He also stated that this was most likely due to manufacturing defect in the rubber. Doug (C.S. supervisor) stated the only thing he could due, was pro-rate the blown out tire and pro-rate the remaining 3 tires. Nothing has been done to correct these issues by cooper tire, atd (american tire distributor or jbc tire at this time.

I purchased 4 new vee rubber tires on 12/5/15. Since the purchase I have put less than 20,000 miles on the tires and have now experienced two complete blowouts in which the side wall of the tires appears to have disintegrated while driving. Had I been driving on a freeway or at a speed over 45 mph I definitely would have lost control of the vehicle which may have resulted in severe injury if not death.

The contact owns a 2007 Dodge Ram 1500 equipped with Firestone transforce ht tires, size: LT265/70R17 (na). While driving approximately 55 mph, the rear passenger side tire blew out without warning or impact. The contact pulled over and parked the vehicle. Roadside assistance replaced the tire with a spare. The tires were replacement tires. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The VIN was not available. The approximate vehicle failure mileage was 93,000 and the approximate tire failure mileage was 15,000. The VIN and dot number were not available.

The contact owns a 2007 Dodge Ram 1500. The contact noticed that the tires were wearing prematurely on the vehicle. The dealer stated that the tie rod needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was repaired after every failure. The manufacturer was notified. The contact was informed of NHTSA campaign number: 13V528000 (steering), but the VIN was not included. The failure mileage was 31,000.

I bought the truck 10/29/10 with 22 K miles on it and have 29950K now. I have had to replace the whole front end, rack and pinion steering system tie rod ends, leaky back window, third brake light, balance and rotate tires 3 times, rail dust, new carpet, leaky third light, new rotors and brakes at 24K, air cleaner, wipers. I questioned the front end when I bought it and was told it as just tires out of balance. When I picked it up and asked if the front end looked good because I noticed the front tie rod ends had a lot of play and I was concerned with issues due to that. I was told the front end was fine no problems with it. I later took it back and had all the front steering components replaced. I picked up the vehicle and had no alignment and was told they only set the toe. I had to keep the steering wheel a full half turn to the left to go straight. I paid for an alignment and the printout showed my toe was set under the specifications. I have tired unevenly worn due to bad front end components. I had to have the front head lamp replaced due to cracking inside the lens, a back seat that the latch did not work properly. After picking up the vehicle bolts that needed tightening due to carpet being replaced. I question how this vehicle was properly inspected and none of these things were noticed. I drive my daughter daily in this vehicle and it remains to have front end problems. I have done research and noticed a lot of issues with crashes relating to faulty front ends on these vehicles. It continues to remain unsafe.

2007 Dodge Ram 1500 quad St/slt, crew pickup, going eastbound on route 80, tully, NY collides with left turning (going West) 2001 Pontiac. Eastbound pickup collides with front bumper the front quarter panel head-on (turned to meet the panel vice drivers door), car spins and back hits two passenger doors and this directs. Pickup end up in the northwest corner telephone pole of skihigh road and route 80. Collision is around 40 - 50 miles and hour. Pontiac is driven back 30 feet. Pickup hits telephone pole straight in middle and drives bumper in 18 inches to 2 feet. Air bag does not discharge. Pickup is classed as total loss by Liberty mutual insurance company adjuster. Carfax has no history of accident with the Dodge 1500 truck. Pickup is at insurance auto auctions (iaa) salvage yard with a 60 day hold for investigation. Driver taken by ambulance to crouse hospital, was wearing seatbelts. Accident report number DF3028000050, 10-127804 local number, 1/22/2010, 8:41 pm, town of tully, NY, onondaga co. Sherriff 03300, L. seburn.

The contact owns a 2007 Dodge Ram quad cab, with Goodyear Wrangler hp 275/60R20 tires. While driving 70 mph the driver side rear tire blew-out, which caused him to swerve to the shoulder of the road. He could not change the tire because the jack nor the wheel nut that's standard, did not come with the vehicle. The failure mileage was 10,406. Updated 12/01/09 updated 12/29/09 the consumer stated the tire that blew out had dry rot. The consumer realized the only way the spare tire can be released from the cable is from underneath the truck after jacking it up on the frame, pushing the spare tire up to the frame and releasing the cable from the rim. The consumer also stated there was not enough spare tire cable length. Updated 12/31/09. Additional information from consumer. Updated 01/21/10.

Goodyear Wrangler hp P275/60R20 sidewall splits I've had to buy 3 tires at different times due to this tire failure all 3 tires have splits in sidewall. Very exspensive to replace due to this cause. Just wanted to see if there could be a reason for this failure and if it could be investigated. I'm stuck without a spare tire due to exspense..last sidewall split occurred on July 30th, 2009.

The contact owns a 2007 Dodge Ram 1500. While driving 55 mph, the rear passenger side tire flattened. The vehicle was taken to a tire dealer and they stated that the tire could not be serviced due to the failure. The contact did not notice any differences beforehand. The current mileage was 10,000 and failure mileage was 9,000. Updated 10/16/08 the consumer stated another rear tire failed. The tire had a spli on the inside of the tire. Updated 10/21/08.

I was driving on a straight, asphalt paved road when the right rear tire suddenly failed. There was no prior indication of any problems with the tire. I had the car in to the dealer about 7 days before and their checklist shows the tires and inflation were ok. My speed at the time was about 40mph. I have a photo of the tire. The tire failed completely on both sides of the tire where the sidewall meets the tread.

I purchased a Dodge Ram 1500 quad cab hemi 2007. It came with Goodyear Wrangler hp P275/60R20 tires. Since I purchased the vehicle I have had major issues with hydroplaning. Even in the lightest rain the rear end of the vehicle will fish tail at idle speeds. I currently have 25000 miles on the truck and it has been used to tow a total of 2000 of those miles. The tires tread have warn so bad that they are down to 6/32 of a tread life. The other issue with this tire was 3 small rocks went in between the tread and punctured the tire in three locations in the flat part of the tread to cause the tire to have a leak. The tire slow leaked air to 18 psi where the punctures would seal themselves from the vehicle weight. Small rocks should not of been able to puncture the tire being an on/off road aggressive tire. This tire also should not have only 6/32 of a tread life after 25000 miles of highway miles over 12 months. I contacted Goodyear and took the tires to a Goodyear dealer to get checked and when I called Goodyear they told me the rock issue is a roadway hazard, but I was charged for the repair. For the hydroplane and tread wear, they told me there was nothing they could do. The dealer I went too, told me in his opinion those tires are not aggressive enough or heavy enough for that model truck, and he does not understand why Goodyear is placing them stock on that vehicle. That is the cause for the hydroplaning. I have almost had 2 accidents in the past 2 weeks during light showers due to sliding rear end. The vehicle hydroplanes during any rainy conditions, no matter how light or how severe. This caused him to have to drive his vehicle in 4 wheel drive, during these types of weather conditions. Also the jack of the vehicle does not fit his tires. His vehicle came equipped with 20'' rims and the jack is made for 18''. he called the manufacturer and was told that they do not make jacks for 20' rims.
