I am in the military so sometimes my truck will sit for a week or two sometimes. Well, I just got back from a TDY(lets just say I came back from out of state) so I just got off the plane and got dropped off my truck.
Mind you its the end of December so it's cold out, really cold. But started my truck, it started fine and started driving along I started smelling antifreeze, then started to see my truck was starting to overheat. Luckily I only live 3 miles from base, so by the time I got home I was seeing steam when I got home I jumped out to see what was going on.
Also, this is about 11 at night and 38 degrees out so I was not about to do anything. Next, morning started it up started leaking more antifreeze. I am a little girl coming to the cold so I was not going to fix what was going on. I thought it was just the transfer hose split because it was probably was dry-rotted or something. I filled the radiator with water and drove to the nearest mechanic.
Come to find out, it was my transfer hose and my water pump went out. I was infuriated I was not going to do that in 30 degree weather. I ended up paying around 500 dollars to change my water pump on a truck with 50,000 miles. That should not happen.

Pretty early for a water pump failure, I think. The shaft seal started to leak, caused a gradual leak of radiator fluid.

Leaking coolant, had to replace. All shops wanted 650.00 or more to replace. Because the time and taking off the front end of the motor. But did it myself in 3 hrs for less than 200.
Do it yourself.but b.s. This happened

I found water leaking under my truck at 119k miles. Needed a new water pump.
This Ram has had a lot of issues in the last 10k miles.
Multiple other issues too, that I have to submit individually as reports on this site.
