First of 11 transfer case motors. Finally, end of 2014, Chrysler told me to go away, they were not fixing it anymore.

The 4x4 system fails every year for the last three years. The first time, when you tried to engage the system, it would basically short out the dash, wipers, and radio etc. The dealer informed me it was the actuator motor and charged me about $1200 to fix, it was 1200 miles out of warranty. The next year the 4x4 would not engage, this time they said it was a wiring harness, eventually, the replaced the actuator motor for the price of the diagnosis fee of $137. This year the same issue has reared it head and now the dealer wants me to pay for a new TIPM for $1200 and then they will replace the actuator motor again for free. I was told there are not recalls on the vehicle for either part. I am stuck driving a truck with 4x4 emblems on that is really only a two wheel drive.

My 2008 Ram has been good to me. I now have 218,000 miles on it. The main problem I have had is the 4x4. The dealership has replaced the module twice? The last time it was replaced was a month ago, January of 2014. I now have another appointment mid February 2014. When you try to engage 4x4, whether it be auto or lock, it keeps flashing. I was stuck in about two inches of snow the other day in a parking lot. How embarrassing..It would not kick in.
Finally got out of the snow and got on the highway, kept on flashing for about thirty minutes, then was solid. Felt like it kicked in finally. Half an hour later started flashing again, went out again. Hopefully this time at the dealership they can make it right. It never was really right from the first time I ever used it. Fortunately I have the lifetime warranty on it. I just want it to be fixed so when I'm in a little bit of snow I will have a good feeling of confidence in my truck.

the dodge truck shows that's it is in 4x4 high , but its only in 2wd, it will no shift back to 2wd on the indicator and 4x4 does not work , I had the truck sold, the buyer had the money in his hands , but wheel 4x4 didn't work and I lost the deal , I just got the truck out of the service shop with a full clean inspection , now this happened , I read all the other complaints and at least I have an idea as to what is wrong , pure bullshit ,used to sell Toyota trucks before and never had any issues , these dodge ram 1500 are pure cheap junk, , 5.7 motors blow up, automatic transmission are junk you know they're going to fail, the question is when, now the differentials are on re- call , pinion nut comes loose , pinion seals , axle seals all leak, well low priced truck and you get what you pay for , glorified shiny garbage .
