Dodge recalled the RAM 1500 for this problem in model years 2009 and 2010 but did not include the 2008 model year. In forty years of driving, I have never had to worry about a rear differential pinion seal leaking. This truck, with only 42,000 miles, is leaking live a sieve and the replacement 70-140 gear oil isn't cheap. The out of pocket cost to get this repaired is over $300. Dodge should have included the 2008 model year when they first learned of the problem. Now I'm wondering how many times in the life of the truck will this have to be replaced. I think I'll go back to driving Ford F-150's.
