Ram 1500 ST 5.7L V8 Hemi

Bought the truck used. After having the vehicle for about 3 months it would not start correctly and the fuel pump would stay on long after turning off the vehicle. Just had to buy a replacement TIPM for about $1,000.00. Not happy!

On December 27, 2015 I was on my way to GA. Truck Dodge Ram 2011 4.7 wouldn't start. Original battery in truck. Replaced battery. Truck was fine. Got to GA and 4 days later truck wouldn't start. Jumped battery..took it to Advanced Auto had everything tested all checked out great. Tested all amps some had a drain, pulled them reinserted no drain, thought problem was solved, but also heard radio sounding like CD was running and after that was a noise like the fuel pump going. Dashboard dial for battery registering 1/4. Advanced Auto and O Reilly all stated that everything checked out ok. Battery, alternator and starter.

I went and got gas, started right up, went out on the high way and the truck died almost cause a 10 car pile up. I was scared out of my wits and the gray hair came on. Two nice gentleman came to my aid. First one didn't have a big enough battery (so I thought). Second was a big Dodge 3500. Took 10 mins to crank. Back to Advance Auto... Everything checks out. Put battery charger on. Still fully charge had to have a jump. Hubby came down to GA (added expense). Did everything I did. Charger on still had to jump.

Started truck on Jan 11th, 2016 and left Ga not stopping or turning off truck. Got home safe. On January 13th dropped the starter had it tested. Everything fine. Starter put back in on the 12th. Everything disconnected as per manual. Sitting in truck trying to start. Waited until needle got almost to have on battery dial. After server all attempts Truck started. This is unreal, even after talking to Chrysler.

I have CONTACTED attorney. Monday I will be calling are ill fated NHTSA and since it's an election year my congressman/women. CHRYSLER step up to the plate. You know what it is, you are putting my life endanger.

Love my truck, just can not deal with this TPIM ISSUE. Had some really cool Dodge vehicles back in the day, always liked Dodge vehicles ----- I would just like to see Chrysler Corporation step up and take care of this problem especially for us loyal customers. If this is not taken care of soon I think that I will get a Ford or Chevy or GMC, maybe they take better care of their customers.

After spending all that money $850 on fuel pump, I drive off lot and stalls out, won't start 1/4 mile from dealer. Back it goes AGAIN service manager himself runs test, says it's the tipm. From replacing battery, plugs, wiring harnesses, coils, fuel pump now they say TIPM. I look up your site, (wish I had done this last year) I find all the info about TIPM. There should be a recall or lawsuit over this B.S.....

Ram 1500 ST 4.7L Fuelflex

  • Automatic transmission
  • 74,000 miles

After having upper spark plugs and 2 wheel sensors replaced engine started stalling when stopping. Happened 3 or 4 times. I looked up the issue in the internet and found on a Dodge forum that the throttle body needed cleaning. I had an induction service (throttle body cleaned, PCV checked and cleaned and fuel additive for injectors) on 12/24/15. Since then the truck has stalled twice. I found on the forum that my issue could be a fuel relay problem. My dash never shows any lights when this happens. The TIPM is pretty expensive and its worth getting the tester to see if this is indeed the problem. I had the extended warranty up to 75000 miles and the issue started after the warranty expired.

Problem began with car stalling, then it would not start. Played with it and got it started and ran fine. Made an appointment to have it checked by Dodge Garage. They said it was fuel pump. Replaced the fuel pump and found it would not stop pumping even with ignition shut off. Next, they said the TIPM was malfunctioning, but wanted to check the computer. Computer checked out and then back to TIPM. Truck has been at garage since November 28 and were waiting for the TIPM to arrive. Never offered a rental and warranty ran out November 11.

Dodge needs to man up and take care of this problem. I've been missing work, my wife has been stranded, and I am sick and tired of this bullshit. They get their payment on time.

I finally did the bypass on the fuse box and it does start but now the check engine light is on, which also worries me, am I damaging something else that they will not cover? If they do not do a recall I will never buy another Chrysler product again.

Ram 1500 5.7L

My Dodge Laramie started having problems with truck cranking, it seems to be a problem with the fuel system, but only happens when starting. I changed the plugs out and it seemed to improve the problem, The following day went out and attempted to use key fob, but truck was totally dead. Replaced battery in key fob, it still failed to work . I purchased new key from Allen Samuels dealership as sales person failed to inform me there was one inside key fob. Can not get truck to turn on.

I had no ideal about the complaints about the Integrated Power Module until I found this site. Can anyone suggest what I may need to do to get truck key fob to work. I am in the process of taking off battery terminals in the hope it will reset the system without having this truck towed to dealership to replace key fob and program the same. If this TIPM., is starting to go out as indicated by the same complaints, I certainly feel like the Maker should do I recall on this problem before they lose this faithful Dodge customer.

I bought what I believed was a Certified Used Vehicle, on June 17, 2015. Early yesterday morning, my truck stalled on some railroad tracks, just as if I had turned off the key. Now I'm told that it is the TIPM that has malfunctioned and needs to be replaced and it is not included in a recall that was issued for TIPMs in certain model Dodge vehicles. I don't just have $1100 laying around, to repair a problem, that is clearly a manufacturer defect.

Ram 1500 Sport 5.7L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 98,000 miles

When trying to remote start my Ram 1500, Sport, Crew Cab, Hemi 5.7 V8, it would not start. It turned over fine but not start. Using the key to start it I tried several times with the same result. It started normally the fifth try. It started normally for a week and then did the same again. Several times now it has failed to start with 11+ tries, remotely and with the key to later start fine. Sometimes it will start and die within 2 seconds and not restart. This does not seem to be a battery issue as the engine turns normally just will not start. I have smelled gasoline fumes as it is trying to start so fuel is being supplied.

This morning I tried 6 times to get it to start when it finally started only to falter within 2 seconds. It started normally but gasoline fumes were very strong for quite a while. This may have started when the vehicle was new because I had it several times for a miss when driving at speed and it seemed to slip out of gear for a second and slam back it but I was not sure it was a transmission issue as it may have been in the ignition to loose power for a second and then get it back making it feel like the transmission.

The dealer updated the transmission software with no change. I also asked if it was something with the Hemi switching between the 8 cyl and 4 cyl? They had no comments for that suggestion. I guess it is good I got the lifetime warranty! My daughter found on the web that it may be the fuse box. $1,000 repair. Wow. We'll see.

Ram 1500 TXV3 4.7L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 153,000 miles

At first my truck started taking longer and longer to actually start. It would turn over but only run at 200 rpm and die out. This problem was sporadic and seemed to be worse after the truck had not been started for 12 hours. Eventually the problem went from occasional to weekly and daily. There was no dash lights indication an issue. My truck stalled twice on me while driving to work so I drove directly to a mechanic. He checked it and saw no major issues, stating that all of the readings were normal when checked. We decided to change my spark plugs and flush the fuel system in an attempt to solve the problem. Drove great after the work. The next morning it did not start, Back to mechanic again, was told to leave the key turned to ON position to help the fuel pump prime/ all readings were normal. Issue persisted. Left truck at mechanic third time while out of town for the week so he could take readings after the truck sat, since that was when the issue happened. Again the mechanic was not confident of what was causing the issue since there was no check engine light.

The problem got worse, it was taking me over 45 minutes to start truck each day, it would crank but not start. Then Im started noticing my battery was dead on many mornings. I thought it was due to how long I was cranking to start, until one day when I happened to walk by my truck and hear a humming sound. I went underneath and could tell it was the fuel pump. I unplugged the fuse for the fuel pump and the humming stopped. For now I just unplug the fuse every time I stop to keep the pump from drawing down my battery. Contacted local Dodge dealer and was quoted $1200 to replace TIPM.

Ram 1500 Outdoorsman 5.7L Hemi

  • Automatic transmission
  • 40,389 miles

The truck will not start, the starter motor will run continually while key is turned but the fuel pump will not be energized and therefore no ignition; the fuel pump is fine. When the power to the fuel pump is taken from an accessory circuit the truck starts fine. The only issue is that the remote start option will not function, and I am not sure of the long term implications of using another circuit to power fuel pump.

Dealer says item is not warranty and I will be out $1250 just for the new TIPM, install etc is over and above that.

Based on the widespread problems this repair should be dealt with on a recall basis. There are far too many similar complaints for it to not be a manufacturing defect in either tipm itself or the way it is protected for weather etc.

We purchased the Dodge RAM 1500 in March 2015. It was sold to us without a word of the TIPM being a problem and we all know at this point dealers are aware of it. We also purchased the extended warranty on the car which we are being told will not cover the repairs needed (big surprise). The repairs will be over $1500. So pissed off at the moment should of just purchased another brand.

Since this is a known issue, so much so that there are instructions online on how to bypass the relay Chrysler needs to own up and help us fix this problem. 1200 dollars for a part that shouldn't fail is ridiculous.

I have been a Mopar guy for a long time Chrysler Dodge not fixing this issue is making me wonder if I will be in the future.

Put in the full recall and replace these faulty units!!
