Ram 1500 Big Horn 5.7L

Had rattling issues when first bought in 2014. Had the dealership check it out, they said we couldn't find anything wrong, it just may be the way the Hemi sounds. Here we are 5 years later, less than 100,000 miles and the dealership is saying I need to replace the engine. This has me nervous as I just bought another Dodge Ram in Oct. Disappointment. This should be a recall.

Ram 1500 Laramie 5.7L

Holy CRAP! Truck starts shaking unbelievably. Took it to my dealer - said had to remove the head min $2000. @ days later said problem was with #1 cylinder. Not fixable. Something about problem in lower engine bock and cam shaft?

Only 20,000 km over warranty! This truck has not been abused . Regular oil changes with synthetic. Dealership says they are giving me a break. $1000 off new engine and more off labour.

I want to cry.

Update from Oct 8, 2015: Price for new engine installed was $12000 with tax.

#1 cylinder was thickly caked with 1/8 of carbon

Dealership service was great, loaner for 7 days, engine at cost and truck detailed. This however does not ease my pain. I expect that once Chrysler Canada inspects the damage that they will offer me significant compensation.

Have a 2011 Dodge Ram 1500, it didn't feel right so I made an appointment for the following day to have it checked. It started shaking badly, had it towed. Naturally, six weeks off the warranty. The dealer said he would put it on the diagnostic machine at $125 per hour. Called later in the day and he said that he found nothing, put in a new spark plug but it didn't work. My wife has to go by the dealers two or three times a day. She said that it never moved. Called the dealer and he said that he didn't have any technicians available (this is now the day of my appointment) and I would have to wait until the following day. Every time that I talked to him he promised to call back, which did not happen until I called him out on lying and never moving my truck.

Three days after it was brought in he called to say that it would need a new engine to the tune of $7,000.00 plus, that would take an additional three days to get here. After three days, car still has not moved. We contacted corporate, no help there. They did say the engine was in. When I talked to the dealer he said that, yes, the engine was in but he didn't have a technician to work on it. We are now into two and a half weeks. I baby that truck and do more than is required. I feel that in the spirit of keeping a good customer they should compensate me somehow....an engine should be good for a lot longer than this! The service is terrible, the inconvenience, expense and frustration is off the charts. Nice way to run a business.
