Apparently this should be a recall, but Dodge only recalled for a select few, obviously its more widespread they they are admitting.

Ram 1500 SLT 4.7L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 163,000 miles

It first started with the fuel pump staying on even after the car was off. It then completely dies because the fuel pump was damaged. I got a replacement TIPM that has been tested for known issues like fuel pump and lights and so on. They fuel pump issue was resolved but right after that the hvac system die, which makes me thinks that it probably has something to do with the TIPM too, since the HVac system never gave me any issues before. Overall it has put me off buying any GM cars - I definitely don't see myself buying another piece of garbage like ram, GMC, Chrysler.

Ram 1500

  • Automatic transmission
  • 87,950 miles

The battery was dying after just a few hours of the vehicle being turned off. After many annoying days of having to manually disconnect the battery to prevent it from dying, I tried to find the problem. The battery was good, the fuses were good but it still kept dying. Eventually I heard a noise coming from behind the back tires. It turns out the fuel pump kept running even with the engine turned off.

I did some research and found that the fuel pump relay on these things can suck and stop working properly. And the pump relay isn't something you can unplug and replace with a new one. Oh no, that would be too easy. The dealer wants to replace the entire TIPM for at least $1000, just for the part! Other Dodge vehicles with the same TIPM (car computer) got recalls, but not Ram trucks for whatever reason. IT'S THE SAME DAMN PART! And you can't buy the $20 work-around part because it's a recall part and is illegal to do so apparently, unless your car is qualified for the recall. So now I'm stuck using my 10mm wrench on the battery every time I want to turn my truck on/off.

Ram 1500 SLT 4.7L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 75,375 miles

Fuel pump is running even when the vehicle is off. The fuel pump is draining the battery.

Update from Nov 7, 2018: WE were able to bypass the fuse by running a bypass line purchased online at vertical visions. We watched a video on youtube: TIPM repair, test, and Bypass Solutions for 2007-2016 Dodge/Chrysler Vehicles By Jason Bell. Inexpensive and very easy. Total cost for repair was about $24.

This is crazy that there has been no recall on this. I have been threw 2 new batteries and I am scared that my truck is going to blow up or just power off while driving down the HWY. Someone needs to fix this. I have seen way to many reports on the same exact thing that I am dealing with but yet no recall???!!!

Ram 1500 Laramie Hemi

  • Automatic transmission

The petition was denied for a recall; however, this is an issue for the Ram 1500 and should be placed on the recall petition as approved. I spoke with several Ram1500 owners 25 owners) and every one of them had the same issue with the oldest vehicle being 2011 and newest 2014. All vehicles experienced the issue from 50k to 75k miles. Sad that Dodge does not take responsibility for this malfunction.

I've paid to replace my fuel pump and now to fix the TPIM. This is getting really expensive! The fact that Dodge is very aware of this problem and chooses not to make it right, sucks hard!

It's a shame that they are putting money over safety. Is a persons life worth saving a few dollars? you can't put a price on safety and why would a person want to ever own another Dodge.

I AM NOT SURE IF THE DEALER SHOULD HAVE REPLACED TIPM. HOPEFULLY THE EXTERNAL FUEL PUMP RELAY SOLUTION WILL SOLVE THE PROBLEM.

Feb 152016

Ram 1500

  • Automatic transmission
  • 100,000 miles

Fuel pump constantly running even when vehicle is off. took it to the shop and had a new fuel pump put in, after they put in the new fuel pump the mechanic told me it was still running and he wasn't sure what the problem was. As a quick fix I had to keep pulling out the fuel pump fuse to stop the fuel pump from running and its getting very annoying.

Ram 1500 Quad 5.7L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 100,000 miles

My truck's battery was replaced and the new battery was drained. I then heard a sound after I switched my vehicle off near the fuel door. Had to boost truck off again. No clue to the issue until I googled about the issue and see that a fuel pump relay was issued for the suv but not for the trucks. What gives? It's displaying the same issues that cause the recall of the suv.
