Have been thru 3 fuel pump relays but when I wire around the relay it runs perfect. The internet is full of this issue that is where I learned to wire around. No one can tell me why this is occurring and of course the local dodge dealer wants to replace the tipm, a 1,200 item. There is no corrosion at the tipm or wiring no bare wires etc cannot get this fixed.

Vehicle intermittently cranks but won't start. Tested for fuel and found no fuel during an extended period of it cranking but not starting. We replaced the fuel pump because that would be a normal thing to do, but later found all sorts of people reporting this TIPM problem.

Purchased parts to jumper fuel pump fuse to switchable circuit and will repair relays on TIPM.

I drove the truck in for 2 recalls; 1 for the shifter and the other for the fuel tank brackets. Drove it home that night, sat in driveway for 2 days and on the third day it would not start. Went back to the dealer by tow truck to check problem and all of a sudden it was not their fault and that the TIPM box has failed. How the hell is this not their problem? I have a funny feeling that when they unplugged the fuel sending unit that it arced due to the tech telling me that he had a problem with the connection. So after 2 recalls it still ended up with a bill over $1200. This is BS.

Ram 1500 Sport 5.7L

  • Automatic transmission

Many of the 2011 and 2012 Ram 1500 trucks had the same TIPM as the Durangos and Jeep Grand Cherokees that were recalled to get a new fuel pump relay in the TIPM. The fuel pump relay in my truck is failing and is creating a huge problem with it starting. I initially thought it was the fuel pump/fuel filter which is also a crappy design. I had a new fuel pump put in but of course that did not correct the problem. I had the injectors and fuel rail checked, replaced the seals. Truck still takes several minutes to start. It is beginning to wear out the battery and starter. After truck starts if runs fine but it is causing some heartache for me. I have to figure something out soon.

Shop owner came to our house with computer and it said had TB code along with a few more. So bought a dealer tb changed it and truck started. Woke up the next morning, truck cranks but won't start as before. Put back on machine. We change fuel relay switch and then changed iat sensor. Bought some $17 gas treatment and starter spray. TRUCK ran for a day. Woke up and it's doing the same thing.

IT'S PRETTY BAD WHEN SO MANY FUEL PUMP RELAYS ARE DEFECTIVE AND THE AUTO MAKER WILL DO NOTHING ABOUT THEM ON ALL MODELS.

I am infuriated that dodge or Chrysler or whomever wants to admit to the issue won't put out a recall for the tipm that they know have been give people issues for years. I have a truck I can't drive and I'm making payments on. Then they want me to pay more for a manufacturer defect. That's not how to run a business. Either fix the problem you know exists or refund the money I've spend on this oversized paperweight.

TIPM is not sending a signal to the Fuel Pump. Dealership will do nothing about it. States that it is not a recall item. All other vehicles for the same year have a recall for the TIPM. Not sure why. Any answers?
