2022 Ford bronco has by default an auto engine shut off when coming to a stop and set of conditions are met. The event occurred to a MANUAL transmission 2022 ford bronco. ~4/5/23, driver was driving up the canyon at an incline when encountering stop and go traffic. After stopping on the incline, the engine shut off per normal operation after shifting to neutral with the brake pedal firmly pushed. About 1-2 seconds after engine shutoff, while driver has brake firmly pushed, the car begins to roll back, with an apparent loss in brake power. Only after driver clutched in to first gear and stalled the vehicle did Vehicle arrest in its rearward motion, narrowly avoiding backing into the car that is stopped behind. From an outward observation the auto start/stop is not suited for standard manual transmission operation when stopped on an incline. The roll back apparently is due to loss of brake power/boost when the auto-start stop function stops the engine.

1st Issue: Antilock brake failure Brand new 2022 Bronco purchased mid Dec with around 2000 miles in February the brakes failed to stop with the pedal to the floor at traffic light and finally all 4 wheels locked up skidding into traffic. Luckily no accident. Repaired took 3 weeks to get the part. 2nd Issue: May 1st Powertrain malfunction at 3000 miles pulled up to a stop sign the engine shut off. Finally after 30 minutes the engine started back. Drove it straight to Ford Service dept. Telling me today the part they need is on indefinite backorder. Prior to the failure no lights came on, but the Ford Pass App showed them. Powertrain Malfunction, Antilock fault, Hill assist warning, and pre collision assist not available. Dealership thought is an app issue and couldn-??t repair unless the lights came on. In both cases the warning lights came on after the fact.

Brake light came on while driving. Brake pedal got hard when depressing. Brake pedal then went to the floor. I went to the local Ford dealer where I purchased the vehicle. I was told that the brake part needed would not be available for a couple months and was told not to drive the car. The vehicle was disabled from 08/18/2022 till 11/11/2022, approximately 3 months. The vehicle was finally repaired on 11/11/2022 and released back to me. As of this date 02/16/2022 Ford has done nothing to compensate me for 3 months of lost vehicle usage and 3 month warranty extension. A surrogate was appointed by Ford and she did nothing to get me any compensation from Ford or extending my warranty. The surrogate refuses to answer emails or phone calls from me in regard to the vehicle.

While driving!! My brake pedal felt rock hard, I HAD NO BRAKES !! The car kept cruising, luckily for us! Vermont is very rural and roads was wide open with no traffic, I had some time to keep stomping on the brakes till I was able to regain braking power, this could have killed us!! If I needed to slow down I would not have been!! I had a 3 year on in the back and my pregnant girlfriend in the passenger, I almost sh*t my pants when I realized the brake pedal was unresponsive! I had no service !! We had to drive the car with intermittent braking just so that I can-€™t get some sell service!! I contacted a fire dealer that was 40 minutes from my location to give them a heads up, I was advised to call ford customer relations, my case number is CAS-41297357-H8T7R8 They towed the bronco on Monday to bring it to that dealer while I-€™m here in Vermont for about a week, I have no vehicle, ford offered 40/day in reimbursement if I get a rental, unfortunately this isn-€™t 2013 where I can actually find a car rental for that price, cheapest was 90 per day. I posted this on Facebook and was so surprised that this has happened to other bronco owners !!

During flat towing the EBB shuts down making the auxiliary brake ineffective, this a safety concern. Ford is aware of the situation, but has failed to address this safety issue.

Flat Towing 2022 Ford Bronco with 2.7 V6 engine. After connecting my Bronco to the motorhome and putting it in the tow mode the following will occur. About 45 mins after turning the ignition off and closing the doors the EBB (Electronic Brake Boost) in the Bronco shuts down leaving the Bronco without any brake boost and leaves the supplemental brake system ineffective. When first connecting the Bronco to the motorhome the brake boost is active and the supplemental brake system must be set to match, or it will lock up the brakes on the Bronco when you stop. After the boost shuts down the supplemental brake system cannot apply enough force to the Bronco brakes to assist in stopping and suddenly, without notice, it takes a much greater distance to stop the motorhome than it did when the boost was working. Ford came up with a temporary work around so the EBB never comes on. This involves pulling fuses but you.have to wait for 5 minutes after you close the doors for the vehicle to go enter sleep mode. To take the Bronco out of flat tow mode you must again wait 5 minutes after opening the hood and closing the doors before re-installing the fuses. When flat towing behind with a motorhome it is impossible to backup with the tow vehicle attached. Having to wait 5 minutes before being able to disconnect the tow vehicle is very dangerous in many situations.

This vehicle is supposed to be flat tow able. If I go to flat tow this car it will lock up the wheels during the first hour or so while towing behind my motor home using a supplemental braking system. I find out later from a forum online that I need to remove some fuses to tow it properly. I hear Ford is working on this issue for a couple years but how many tire lock ups before someone gets hurt?

Vehicle reported Anti-Brake Fault. Vehicle reported Pre-Collision Fault. Vehicle reported 4 different hill start Assist Failures. I noticed the Pre-Collison feature did not work because the breaks never activated when there was a sudden merge into my lane going 65 miles per hour. The car says that the pre-collision feature is enabled but did not respond to a vehicle that came close to causing a wreck.

The 2022 Bronco is listed as being able to be flat towed behind a motorhome and the software allows it to be put into flat tow mode. 49 states require that flat towed vehicles over a certain weight have supplemental braking. When the supplemental brake system is installed in a Bronco with the 2.7 liter engine it stops working correctly after 45 minutes because the electronic brake booster shuts off. This results in the supplemental braking system not having enough power to activate the brakes and can cause a serious accident because the motorhome cannot stop soon enough. Ford issued TSB 22-2210 to temporarily correct this issue but it simply disables the electronic brake booster (must remove fuses) and again leaves the towed vehicle with insufficient braking. Ford claims they are working a software update due out in September 2022, it is now mid October and no recall has been issued.

Bronco MY 2022 Owners manual pages 288-289 on suv shows how to disengage in features menu the background ESC controls for yaw in the Trailer sway subsystem of ESC.When a dangerious highway sway of a trailer occurs, this subsystem will detect yaw and apply brakes. It is reported on F150 that rear brakes will heat up and may fail.Base Bronco, for marketing purposes cannot be factory equipped tow package options, but accessories market tow hitch and electric harness. Big Ben and others model may or may not have option. Cas38178902 was open and selling dealer has been advised. If brake start to heat up and seaze pads to rotors the Base Bronco has no method to disable the trailer sway controls since the MAP factory was instructed not to enable the trailer tow control. Jackknifing may occur on base Bronco with afterfactory tow equipment.

The contact owns a 2022 Ford Bronco. The contact stated that the brakes failed intermittently. The contact stated that the brake power booster failed to operate as needed. The brake pedal required an excessive amount of pressure to stop the vehicle. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer who stated that the brake vacuum hose assembly needed to be replaced. The contact stated that the failure was related to TSB 50472. The vehicle had not been repaired due to the part being on backorder. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 129.

When set in flat towing mode the Bronco-€™s electronic brake boost (EBB) shuts off after 45 minutes or less. Once the EBB shuts off the Bronco-€™s brakes, which are connected to the motorhome-€™s brakes via an auxiliary brake system, no longer work properly and will not slow the Bronco. This failure then requires the motorhome-€™s brakes to stop both the Bronco and the motorhome and creates a serious safety issue because: 1) Stopping distance increases dramatically. 2) The motorhome-€™s brakes could fade, while descending grades, leading to total braking failure. Nearly all states require towed units in excess of 3,000# to have brakes but once the EBB shuts off the Bronco is in violation of these laws.

This vehicle is advertised as Flat Tow capable the 2.7 is equipped with electronic brake booster and when hooked up to rv that has a charge line that feeds the bronco with 13.5 volts continuously (as needed) the battery management system shuts off the electronic brake booster rendering the secondary brake system inoperable after 15 minutes in tow mode so the vehicle is set up with power assist brakes for the first 15 minutes then shuts down no matter what power supply is given creating the rv to do all the braking with no assist all while in tow mode

I purchased this vehicle to flat tow behind my motorhome. Ford states that the full size Broncos are flat tow capable, but unfortunately the braking system times out due to the electronic brake boost being on a timer. I have installed a supplemental braking unit to activate the brakes on the Bronco when being towed behind my motorhome. The braking system inoperative after the 45 minutes that the electronic brake booster times out. This is a huge safety concern due to the weight of the Bronco not slowing down as intended while being flat towed. This needs to be addressed with Ford Motor Company. I do know that I am not the only person who has experienced this issue and more people will continue to have this issue until a fix is implemented.

Recreational Flat Towing 2022 Ford Bronco with 2.7L V6 engine. After connecting my Bronco to the motorhome and using Ford instructions for putting it in the tow mode the following will occur: About 45 mins after turning the ignition off and closing the doors the EBB (Electronic Brake Boost) in the Bronco shuts down leaving the Bronco without any brake boost. This will leave the supplemental brake system ineffective. When first connecting the Bronco to the motorhome the brake boost is active and the supplemental brake system is functioning properly. After the boost shuts down the supplemental brake system may not apply enough force to the Bronco brakes to assist in stopping and the distance required to stop the motorhome and connected Bronco is increased. Should an incident occur that causes the Brono to become disconnected from the motorhome while under tow the automatic braking function of the supplemental braking system may experience the same issue and fail to safely stop the Bronco.
