problem #3

Feb 012024

Edge Limited 3.5L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 106,000 miles

First the Power booster in brakes went out and now I have to pay 3500.00 to have the ABS system fixed and to top it off the dealer doesn't even know if parts are available ..... REALLY on a 2013 model year ????

problem #2

Feb 072023

Edge Limited 3.5L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 125,000 miles

Pedal almost goes to floor, booster replaced by Ford dealer - extended coverage (10years - 150,000 miles), no better. Master cylinder replaced by local mechanic, no better. ABS pump ordered, we'll see.

Update from Mar 6, 2023: changing out the HCU did the trick!

problem #1

Mar 202019

Edge SEL 3.5L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 50,000 miles

Our 2013 Edge started having brake problems in March of 2019, mileage around 50,000. The brakes would randomly go soft and go all the way to floor. This has happened 4 separate times over a 2 year period, but each time it seem to fix itself. By the time I got it to the dealer for repairs (which was two times) the brakes had gone back to normal. Because they could not pin point the problem and sent me on my way.

I always had a feeling of uneasiness not knowing when or where I would be when it happened again. On Sunday April 18th 2021, mileage around 60,000 (the 4th time this happened) I had my grand daughter with me when the brakes went soft again and the brake pedal went all the way to floor. We had the car towed to independent repair shop since Ford dealer had not been able to fix problem after two attempts. The independent mechanic after replacing the master cylinder, booster, checking the ACU (ABS) control module and bleeding the brakes the car is still in shop after 7 days and mechanics are continuing to try to trouble shoot the problem.

I am so disappointed with this 2013 Ford Edge at this point. We loved this car so much when we purchased it new, but the brake problem scares me to death. I don't know if I will ever trust this car again. At this point I'm not sure there is a solution to the problem. Ford needs to come forward about this brake issue and warn people of the possible danger and hazards this car poses.
