The contact stated that the low brake air pressure warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that after pumping the brake pedal several timed the vehicle came to a complete stop. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and the mechanic stated that the brake booster needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was contacted but provide no assistance. The manufacturer was contacted, and the manufacturer stated that the vehicle was out of warranty. The contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 257,000.

When depressing the brakes, heard a hissing sound and had a spongy break feeling. Could not stop as desired at a low speed and traveled into the busy intersection. Took car to Ford Dealer and they diagnosed it as a Brake Booster Failure. Was notified that Ford was fixing this for some VINs under 150k mileage, which my vehicle is. Was told that this agency was the deciding factor if my VIN was covered under this repair from Ford. Right time, right place, we could have been crushed. The dealership confirmed the issue with the Ford Edge, and the fact that there was a Customer Satisfaction sent to some VIN's for the 2013 Ford Edge. There were no warnings at all of this failure. None. One time was enough to go have it checked out before someone was injured or killed.
