Edge SEL 3.5L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 121,500 miles

You will hear a grinding going forward and a severe grinding in reverse. The Ford dealer said the rear differential had imploded and would need to be completely replaced. If you continue to drive with the severe problem you will loose your AWD and can severally damage and even destroy your transmission.

I heard the grinding initially in reverse when cranking the wheel and backing up to the driver side. At first you may think it’s a CV joint. We had ours towed to the dealer from home to ensure nothing more would be damaged. As a small home mechanic I diagnosed the problem prior to sending it to the dealer.

This is a major repair and full replacement with new parts and labor cost me $3,880.00. Happened at 121k miles on the AWD 2013 Ford Edge 3.5L V6
