Some months ago, the driver door sensor began telling me the door was still open when I had shut it. Even after I slam it shut several times, it still errors. It chimes me and tells me to "Put car in neutral", or "Turn off engine". It does these things after stopping at a light and starting to proceed when light is green, as well as when I first start out.

I got used to the faulty chimes and messages over the months but noticed the other night that my interior lights were still on! I tried getting in, starting the car, shutting the door, turning car off, getting out, and locking; several times. The sensors were still saying door was ajar when it was shut, but for some reason after repeating this process several times, the lights finally went off.

I called a Ford dealership and they said they would need the car for an afternoon to fix, and it would cost a significant amount. This absolutely burns me up! This should be a safety recall! That web page describes my problems to a T, and says that hundreds of other Ford owners of a specific time period have also filed complaints about the same issues, and yet Ford says the complaints aren't significant enough! What universe do they live in?

If my battery is run down overnight only 1 time because of this issue, I am promptly going to go trade in this piece of junk for something other than a Ford, and never consider Ford again. I am retired, and living full time in my RV in the Redwoods, CA. Its 50 miles to the nearest grocery store, and if Ford causes me even one roadside service trip because the battery is run down... well I won't be able to get rid of this car fast enough!
