Car mileage 84,000. 90% city driving 10% mountain 1. vehicle was parked in driveway and preparing to leave for work. Opened rear driver side passenger door, put items inside and closed door. Entered drivers side, turned key on to start car. Received red warning on dash that let passenger door was ajar. Opened and shut door again same warning. Tried this 7 times. Interior lights would not dim with door ajar warning, even with doors closed. After seventh time warning subsided.and interior lights dimmed out. 2. the following day the wife stopped for gas. She filled the car, then got back inside and started the car. She received the left passenger door ajar warning, even though she had not opened that door either leaving home or at the gas station. She got out shut the door. The warning subsided and she went on her way. 3. we've encountered the same problem the last three days, as item 1 above, parked in the driveway, parked at the store.

My 2013 Ford Edge with 48,000 miles has a very annoying driver door ajar error message. This message will not go away when it's very obvious my driver's side door is closed. My interior light stays on at night time for unspecified amounts of time making it very difficult to drive. This issue also is draining my battery as the interior lights stay on after closing and arming the alarm. Ford is charging 125 dolalrs just to look at the issue then another 400-500 dollars to replace the parts with the same reported defective parts. Totally ridiculous on Ford's part. I will never ever purchase another Ford vehicle again.

When the windshield wiper speed control is turned off, the wiper continues to run. Have not found a way to make it stop. Searching databases online, reveals a problem that is quite common. This product should be recalled and replaced by the manufacturer due to early failure and a large number of complaints.

Door ajar warning. The car does not recognize when you shut the door. When you start the car the interior lights stay on and the warning light for door ajar stays illuminated. Also, the error code shift to park dings everytime you take off from a stop. The doors do not lock while the car is running and in motion. If you attempt to lock the doors manually they immediately unlock. When the car is turned off and locked from the fob the exterior lights stay illuminated for an extended amount of time. This is very draining on the battery.

"rear left door ajar". interior dome lights stay on for a significantly varying amount of time when driving and when it's dark at night this is very distracting and dangerous. The interior dome lights stay on for a significantly varying amount of time after the car is turned off and key is removed. This is draining the battery and going to lead to premature battery failure. Sometimes the car doors won't lock while driving. Sometimes car doors won't lock after exiting car in non-secure areas such as parking lots, etc.

Originally occurred in 2015. At that time the dealer indicated that sop was to clean contacts not replace component. The cleaning worked until the warranty expired. Now the door does not register in the system as closed at any time. The door is closed but the system does not see it as closed. Door remains unlocked because system does not see it closed. Anti-theft does not work because system does not see door as closed. Lights remain on for long periods of time when the doors are closed. Get warning that door is open, when it is closed.

A couple weeks ago the "door ajar" warning light appeared. I've repeatedly checked the condition of the doors and light doesn't go off. I've read of the problem on line and it seems to be a common issue, expensive to repair, and known to cause issues with the battery life and operation of the locking/electrical system.

My 2013 Ford Edge keeps telling me my drivers side door is ajar, it keeps beeping when I am driving, the doors will not lock and the interior lights stay on. The interior lights stay on when I try and lock the car when I arrive home and they don't go off and drain the battery. I only have 25,900 miles on my car and I feel that this is a safety issue and should be a recall.

problem #682

Jul 012017

Edge

The doors sensors of the driver and passenger doors are faulty, causing the car to register them as "open" all the time. This causes door locks to default to unlocked, even while driving, regardless of speed. This causes a fall hazard, a carjacking hazard, and an abduction hazard for me and my children. It also causes the overhead lights to stay on while beginning to drive until the car reaches speeds over 10 mph. This causes a problem while in reverse in parking lots, as the lights decreases visibility to almost nothing and prevents me from seeing cars crossing behind me and parked on my passenger side.
