Purchased a used 2013 ford edge with less than 35000 miles on it. When I first drove it off the lot it had a full tank of gas (YIPPEE!). I reset all statistics obviously to see what kind of mileage I would be getting. I read it had 19mpg city and 27 highway so I was expecting at most a drop of 5-6 mpg compare to the 2013 mazda 3 hatchback I had, which averaged out at 27mpg with 25% highway 75% city driving. Not the case!!!! My edge is averaging 15-16 MPG right now!! I thought this was insane!!! Went to the dealer to get the oil changed and a tune up, they recommended resetting the system as well by disconnecting battery. Still no difference anyone else having this problem?!?!?! any solutions? I mean ive always been a grandpa of a driver trust me my significant other never fails to remind me!! any solutions are greatly appreciated!!!

Bought our 2013 Edge Limited 3.5L FWD in Georgia last February 2016 used with low miles from the local dealer. The window sticker says the car is rated at 19/27/22 but I feel this is a complete lie. Maybe I am used to the understated economy from Volkswagen (both of my last 2 cars achieved their combined MPG by at least 2), but this dang car has only hit highway miles ONE time and that was on a level highway in May (very mild temperature). The best example for my frustration is on our move from Georgia to Kansas last September (2016).

Meanwhile the Edge with my wife driving the same roads I did with only herself and 2 children (and much lighter stuff) only got 23.7 with the best of 4 tanks only 24.5. What gives? Tires are properly inflated at 35 psi and the cruise control was used from 65-75 mph the whole way, seems like the exact definition of "highway mileage." The sad part (at least according to estimates on Fuelly) is that 19-21 mpg is the average mileage for these cars which means my 21 mpg over 50 fill-ups and 15K miles is actually on the better end of things.

I factory ordered this car in 2012 from Ford of Canada and took delivery 29 January 2013. I did a ton of research on vehicles that had excellent fuel mileage and the Ford Edge came to the top of my list. The car manufacturer claimed that the car's fuel mileage highway was 36mpg.

Since new, the car topped out at 23mpg. I complained to the dealer and they told me that the fuel mileage would improve at around 4,000km. I have 65,000km on the car now and mileage has moved up to 24mpg highway! Still a far cry from 36mpg. I have had ongoing correspondence with Ford of Canada for over a year and finally they said that the car meets Ford specifications. Really??!! It may meet Ford specifications, but it sure does not meet advertised specifications. Their brochure states 36mpg; the Energuide that comes with the car states 36mpg and other advertisements claim 36mpg - so I am not sure how they figure that the fuel mileage "meets Ford specifications".

I have contacted Canadian Government agencies; civilian agencies; consumer agencies; etc but nobody can/will assist me. So, the Canadian car manufacturer can make any blatant claim which is gross misrepresentation of the facts and they have no fear of being held accountable for misleading the public. Ford actually sent me a survey and asked if I did research on my last purchase and I replied that "what is the sense of doing research when one has to deal with tainted information provided by the manufacturer".

The ironic thing is that I traded off a 2008 Mercury Grand Marquis, 4.6L V8 which got 27mpg on the highway. I now have a 2003 Mercury Grand Marquis, 4.6L V8 which gets between 24-27 mpg highway. So much for the new 3.5 V6. As part of my investigation into mileage claims, the United States Ford Edge is rated 23-25mpg by the EPA - which is reasonable and correct. Canadian lawmakers have demonstrated that they have no nuts and are afraid of the car manufacturers - so what are we as consumers supposed to do? Even the so-called Consumer Protection Association has no clout. Makes me wonder if the Consumer Association in this country is just another money grubbing job similar to a Canadian Senator - just show up to work and we will pay you - but please don't do anything. Bottom line is that car dealers and manufacturers do not give a rats ass about you - they just want your money and they will be nice to you until they get your money and then you are on your own. Buyer beware!!! I will never buy another new vehicle and I will never buy another vehicle from a dealer; I will buy privately. Buyer beware is expected in this venue..Does anyone know of any attorney that is doing a class action against Ford of Canada? I have all the brochures/paperwork/emails as evidence.

Really annoyed that we brought the Edge back to the dealer immediately upon noticing how quickly the gas would have to be refilled. Was told the car needed to be broken in wait tip 1500 miles. Went back after 1500 miles with the same complaint. Was told to wait for at least 3000 miles, went back again. First manager said he would switch us into a Ecoboost car even had us take the ecoboost home to see if we noticed a difference, we did and told him so. Then his story changed when he found out we leased the car. Now we are dealing with the Ford Corporation who just did a "Fuel capacity test" which means they drove it for 10 miles and hooked it up to one of there computers. What do you think that accomplished.... you're right.. NOTHING. My pictures of what the tank says it should be getting compared to what their computer is recording is off by at least 5 gallons. I just want Ford to own up to this and take this car and give me the same limited car that I currently have with an Eco boost engine.
