  • 61,900 miles
On my 2017 Ford Edge the epb motor and ABS module went out at 62,000 miles resulting in brakes dragging and very difficult to release the parking brake with the danger of locking up while driving. Also the engine is a 4 cylinder 2 liter ecoboost and has been leaking coolant into cylinder number 2 causing coolant level to drop and the engine misfiring eventually leading to a engine warning light. Ford has issued a service bulletin to look out for these problems. The only remedy is engine replacement at a cost of at least $8,000. Ford has been aware of these problems for quite a long time but has not issued a recall and will not help with the cost of repair. I believe my engine had this problem before the powertrain warranty expired at 60,000 miles. I am not a mechanic and did not notice the problem until my check engine light came on at approx. 61,500 miles. I think Ford should bear the responsibility of engine replacement as the engine has failed before 62,000 miles. A car engine should last much longer. After doing research I have seen complaints of dozens of similar cases of the ecoboost engines having the same problem and beleive it has a design flaw.

There is a recall on this vehicle. The notice to go to a dealer for correction has been held up because of parts availability. But everything supposedly was to be ready by the last quarter of 2020. The last quarter of 2020 ended 35 days ago. Still haven't gotten a notice as to when the car can be brought in.

The recall on my vehicle (described) is for the possibility of a hydraulic brake line to rupture, I have been waiting for months and the parts I am told are not available"? should I just park the car for months waiting? or can something be done to wake Ford Motor Company up" I already had my brake line fail and I had to pay for the repair, this is insane

On 12/12/2020 I was driving approx. 25 mph when my low brake fluid warning light came on. I immediately braked to get off the main road. My car did not slow down enough as I was pulling into a parking lot. I hit a curb, popped my front tire and my car finally stopped. Upon inspection by aaa, it was discovered that my front passenger side brake line was leaking. Car was towed home. On Monday 12/14/2020, I spoke with Ford who towed my 2017 Ford Edge to the dealership. There are no parts available and they do not know when the part will be available. The letter I received in Sept. 2020 stated that there is a recall for this issue and to continue driving the car. Ford would contact me when the part came in - approx. Q1 2021. At this point, I'm without a car and could have injured myself, sister and 3 kids because an issue Ford is aware of and has no estimated date to fix.

In April 2020, the passenger front brake line burst as I was driving down a hill in my neighborhood. The low brake fluid light came on as I pressed the brake pedal which went all the way to the floor. Fortunately, I was not going fast and no cars were coming so I was able to slow the vehicle by turning right and going up another small hill. We replaced that line ourselves. In August 2020, the driver front brake line burst in a parking lot as I was slowing down to park. I was able to coast to a stop. Ford had just issued a notice of recall for the front brake lines so I had the vehicle towed to a Ford dealership in shawnee, ks. They replaced the line with a temporary brake lone as they did not have the recall part in. In October 2020, the rear passenger brake line failed. The vehicle was parked. As I pressed the brake pedal to start the car, the pedal went all the way to the floor. I knew immediately that one of the brake lines had ruptured. I got out of the car and sure enough, I had brake fluid leaking from the rear passenger brake line. Because the recall only covered the front brake lines, we replaced the ruptured line as well as the only brake line that had not ruptured. We figured it was only a matter of time before that one burst, too. I have attached a picture of the rear brake line that burst in October. We kept it as I plan to take it with me when the recall parts finally come in and demand they change the rear brake lines at no cost as well.

I was driving in a parking lot and went to apply the brakes. There was no resistance, and I had to push the brake pedal down to the floor to get any resistance, and the vehicle finally slowed to a stop, taking much longer than usual. My two young children and wife were in the car with me as well. I got out of the vehicle, and looked underneath, only to see brake fluid leaking out near the front right tire. Upon getting back in the vehicle, I received a warning that the brake fluid level was low. The vehicle has 43,000 miles on it, and we had driven 20+ miles earlier without issue. We did not run anything over or hit anything. There is a current recall on this vehicle regarding a brake issue, however, on towing to the dealer, they told me this issue is not related, yet I feel that it is, and is too coincidental to happen in the exact location of the recalled part. They tried to tell me that I must have run something over to cause the rupture/leak, but I know this is not the case.

On 7/16/2020 my 2017 Ford Edge experienced a loss of brakes while driving. The vehicle was was approaching a busy intersection when the failure occurred. The brake pedal went to the floor and the emergency brake had to be used to avoid a collision. The vehicles low brake fluid light came one and a large pool of fluid was coming from the front passenger wheel. The vehicle was tow back to my house and upon investigation the front passenger brake line had burst. There was no sign of prior damage or unusual wear. The vehicle has 63,000 miles.

On 02/20/2020 while driving the vehicle on a city street and approaching a stop light the brake pedal went to the floor and was difficult to stop. Shortly after a indicator light showed that my brake fluid level was low. The vehicle was limped home and parked in driveway. The next morning there was a large puddle of brake fluid underneath the vehicle on the front passenger side. There was obvious brake fluid covering the inside front passenger fender well. Underneath the vehicle there was brake fluid that had sprayed the front tire and underneath vehicle. There was brake fluid dripping from the brake line with no obvious damage noted anywhere else. The vehicle was then taken to a Ford service center. The mechanic stated that the rubber brake line going to the caliper had ruptured.

The contact owns a 2017 Ford Edge. The contact stated while driving at approximately 35 mph the brake pedal was depressed traveling to the floor board failing to stop the vehicle, as a result rear ending the vehicle in front causing it to collide with another vehicle. No warning lights were illuminated. No vehicle occupants sustained injuries. The vehicle was not taken to dealer or local mechanic for a diagnostic testing. A police report was filed. The contact mentioned that the vehicle was taken to ravenel Ford (6340 savannah hwy, ravenel, SC 294700) approximately a month ago for brake issues. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where the brake fluid reservoir was replaced due to the brake warning light illuminating. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 34,000.

Was driving home from work when I realized my brake had decompressed and went all the way to the floorboard. Got home and my husband noticed I had brake fluid all over underneath my vehicle. My left passenger side brake line burst while driving, causing the brake pedal to depress all the way to floor and making the vehicle extremely difficult to stop (by the time I made it home it was hardly stopping at all). Ford would not use my warranty to replace they said I hit something. On (12/20/2019) driving home from work this time the front passenger brake line seems to have burst. (again while applying the brake this time at a stop light on a city street) and again causing the pedal to go all the way to the floor and making the car extremely difficult to stop. This is a hazardous situation and very concerning that it has occurred to with my brake lines twice within the past year, and all while the car was only 3 years old and had only 45,000 miles. This is a problem I believe Ford needs to address, from what I have gathered online this is an issue quite a few others have faced.

Hi I am the owner of a 2017 Ford Edge fwd last week on the 1may 2019 while driving on highway 400 in woodbridge Ontario exiting the ramp to langstaff rd I applied the brakes but the brakes failed to stop I applied the emergency brakes and drove about a mile to my home address while the vehicle was parked in the driveway I noticed some oil under neath the car engine the next day I towed the vehicle to the Ford dealer in woodbridge and after is was examined by them I was advised that both front brake flex house were broken leaking oil. I was told that the parts were back order and the dealer had the car and the repairs under the warranty while the vehicle was at dealer I was told that I needed back brakes also. I declined the service today the 10 May 2019 I had the rear brakes replaced by my own mechanic and while he was a xemining the brake lines he noticed the rear left side had an air build an air bible in the line, which he stated that the brakes will fail soon because the brake line is rubber I called the dealer and told them about the problem and I was advised that this is not a warranty defect I need to wait till the brake lines burst completely for them to replace it I told them this is a safety issued and was told to bring it in next Thursday the the 16 May 2019 for them to look at it I am puzzled by this system that the warranty or the dealer play with people life's with safety my invoice from the front brakes repair is [xxx] repaired at pine tree Ford Lincoln in woodbridge ont 4167984777 thank you in advance (xxxxx) parts of this document have been redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

Living in Colorado it get very cold at times. A gap at the front Edge of the rear wheel well opening allows melted snow or ice to get into the area and under the rear doors. The liquid re-freezes and seals the door shut. It can not be opened. Putting heat lamps near the two areas (both sides) took over an hour to thaw the ice and allow the door(s) to open. #2 brakes squeak when backing up - reported to dealer several time and brakes were checked - worst again in cool weather. I may not seem like a big deal to have the rear doors freeze shut but it is potentially very serious if the vehicle had to be exited in a hurry in an emergency.
