Fall of 2024 my right/rear brake line blew. March 3rd 2025 the left/rear brake line blew. Left with no brakes both times and costly repairs. Called my Ford dealer and they said there is no recalls. My mechanic said that both break line failed. There were no warning signs either time. Very scary and dangerous!

*Left rear brake failure. *Hard to stop - spongy brake pedal goes to floorboard when trying to stop. *Independent service center confirmed left rear brake hose leak. *Only the service center inspected the vehicle. warning lamps or messages of the problem prior to the failure. The problem first appeared the day of the brake failure. had the car towed to the independent service center. They found the left rear brake hose leaking brake fluid. They suggested replacing both rear brake hoses. Once replaced, they did not notice any other issues on the test drive afterwards.

On multiple occasions, the climate control system cuts out causing no defrost, the wipers stop working, and while driving the rear brake line failed which almost caused an accident. Ford stated it was outside of the warranty however the vehicle is driven only on streets and seems like a strange failure.

My 10yr old son and I were coming to stop light only to press the breaks and not be able to stop completely until using the parking break. Unfortunately this is the 3rd time since 2021we have experienced the shocking reality of suddenly no being able to stop. (no fluid where parked, no warning lights no sounds) I had my car towed to the dealership and (even though the front break line was replaced twice in the past) the Ford service center was quickly able to identify the cause of the leak and is charging me $1750 to fix the same problem with the back brake hose since recall only covered the front.

Rear break hoses rupture. My car kept loosing break fluid with no dash board warnings until break pressure became so low that it was hard to stop my vehicle. My vehicle began to move forward while my foot was on the break. This rupture in my break lines put me, my family, other drivers and pedestrians lives in danger. The problem was identified by Ford dealership 1 month after I got the recall on my front break hoses fixed. My car was loosing break fluid when I brung it in to fix the recall and it continued to do so until I brung the car back in for the same problem.

The contact owns a 2017 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the brake pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to stop as intended. The contact depressed the brake pedal to the floorboard and allowed the vehicle to roll to the shoulder of the road. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed. The vehicle was then towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed with a ruptured rear passenger-??s side brake line. The contact was informed that the rear passenger-??s side brake line needed to be repaired. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that the vehicle was serviced several times by the dealer due to brake failure. In addition, the contact stated that the failure reoccurred without warning. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 30,100.

The front brake lines burst about a year ago and were services by a repair shop, just a few hours ago the rear passenger brake line suddenly burst-ed in the same manner as the front (that were part of the recall about a year ago) - it might be something worth looking into as this would be a key safety issue. there was no slow leak or damage to the rear brake line prior to it suddenly failing ( with about a 15mm hole near the top of the bend of the rubber near where it meets the steel line.

Driver side rear flexible brake hose ruptured, passenger side flexible brake hose was bulging and ready to rupture. Drove vehicle approximately 2 -3 miles before brake system warning light cluster illuminated and loss of braking power occurred. Safety recall Notice 20S42/ NHTSA Recall20V-469 (May 2021) issued for front brake lines however, this appears that the rear lines should have been included as well. This vehicle has less than 84,000 miles on it.

Twice this weekend, when I parking on a steep driveway, I put the shift lever into the park position, I turned off the vehicle and began to exit the vehicle. When I released my foot pressure on the brake pedal, the Ford Edge began to roll backward. I had to reapply pressure to the brake pedal and then engage the emergency brake to stop the vehicle from rolling. I understand that in June 2022 Ford issued a recall for almost 3 million vehicles including 509K Ford Edge models (between the years of 2015 - 2018), however my vin number was not included in the recall - [XXX]. - Yes, my safety and the safety of others was put at risk. - I am waiting to hear back from the dealership to schedule an appointment - No one has inspected the vehicle components yet (waiting to hear back from dealership to take the vehicle in) - There were no warning indications of any potential problem prior to my experience yesterday Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions, and instructions on how I should proceed. The contact owns a 2017 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while his wife was driving at 70 MPH and approaching an exit, the brake pedal was depressed but the brakes failed to engage. As a result, the driver crashed into a vehicle in front that was stopped at a red light. The air bag deployed. No warning light was illuminated. A police report was filed. There was a six-year-old daughter occupant seated at the rear driver's at the time of the failure. Both received minor abrasions. The driver had a seat belt abrasion on her collarbone. The daughter had a seatbelt abrasion in the lower abdomen. Medical treatment was needed and both received blood tests to make sure there was no damage to the liver. The vehicle was towed to a lot. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 110,000.

In 2020, Ford issued a recall of 2015-2018 Ford Edges due to a FRONT brake jounce hoses that could rupture. Ford Reference recall# 20S42. Today, the REAR brake hoses ruptured, which caused a progressive brake fluid leak; which caused the brake fluid warning indicator light to illuminate. This caused a reduction in the rate of deceleration, and having to tow the vehicle to a Ford dealership for repair. Concerned that the same issue with the front hoses have now affected the REAR brake hoses.

Recall for bushings & customer satisfaction letter for broken flexplate repaired at the same time. 1 hour after recieving car, tool bar pops on dashboard. Takes back to dealersship- states they forgot to program software. 3 days later dashboard lights up parking brake malfunction service required/ service now. I never touch/use the parking brake. Nor have I had any lights/ issues with mycar before this. The parking brake was turning on and not even engaged. Takes back to dealer after not even a week later to be told this is a common issue with the car, not recalled though. The right rear brake harness needs repair. Best to replace both because it'll go out next. 3 trips to the dealer and $600 later here we are for Ford malfunctions.

Had brake calipers replaced 3 weeks ago. Picked up vehicle and brake pedal was going to the floor. Dealer said it was air in the line. Get vehicle back and 2 weeks later I am driving I apply the brakes and the pedal goes to the floor and my vehicle barely stops. Almost hit the person in front of me. The warning light for Low Brake Fluid Comes on. I am told by the Dealer that the rubber brake line is leaking somewhere. Ford says that my vehicle is not a part of the recall on the Ford rubber hose issue. How is this not the same issue!

I was parked. Pressed brake to start car; brake pedal went all the way to the floor. When the car started warning message appeared that brake fluid was low. I had no prior warnings/signs of brake failure. I had no brakes whatsoever making the car undriveable. Car was taken to Firestone Complete Auto Care where it was determined a rear brake hose had prematurely ruptured, whereby leaking all brake fluid. Said brake hoses should last 20+ years. Brake hose was replaced by Firestone.

On 03/16/2018 my wife noticed her brakes were not working correctly. The brake pedal would go straight to the floor and she had trouble getting the car to stop. She called and said the warning for low brake fluid came on as well. When she arrived home I noticed the rear driver side brake line was leaking. The car had to be towed to Arrow Ford in Abilene, Texas. The dealership tried to say my wife ran something over but the location behind the rear shock does not allow any room for debris to hit the brake line. We-??ve already have had the front brake line rupture before the recall on the front brake lines. We had to pay out of our pocket without reimbursement and now we are going to pay for the rear brake line to be replaced. This is an extremely dangerous issue with ford brake lines that needs to be addressed. Luckily my wife was driving in town at slower speeds cause this could have been fatal. There has been no inspection on the component except from the dealership mechanic after the rupture. Currently my wife-??s vehicle sits at the dealership waiting for repairs.
