This is a coolant intrusion in cylinder 2. My cylinder would misfire while driving at high speeds on the highway. Also, alarms of overheating of the engine would pop up. I took it to a Ford dealer and confirmed that it is a coolant intrusion and they tvwould try to charge $7,800 plus tax for a manufacture design defect.

Engine light came on at 73,000 miles and stated engine misfire cylinder 1. Took to Ford service. They had to put 1 gallon of coolant in and drove for about a week. Still having issues and finally told about TSB 22-2229 and that a new engine would be needed. This is a known factory defect and the customer should not have to pay thousands of dollars out of pocket to replace an engine with low miles! Engine has not been replaced.

Most likely due to manufacturing defect or other issue related to, coolant is mixing into the engine cylinder causing a cylinder misfire. My vehicle is outside of the original manufacturer's warranty by about a year and now needs a new engine due to this defect. At 68,363 miles, there should not be a need for a new $6,000 plus tax engine with zero accountability or apology from Ford. This should have been a recall plain and simple and all costs associated with resolving this issue should be responsibility of the manufacturer. In June 2019, Ford issued a technical service bulletin of this known issue outlining the affected vehicles with a 2.0L EcoBoost engines, but did not communicate with affected owners or issue a recall to have this problem addressed nor do they offer a courtesy extension to the manufacturer's warranty for owners. While my family was lucky that we encountered this issue while we are in our home city, and not on the road driving to visit family in another state, it is not a stretch of the imagination that this could result in serious injury to unsuspecting, affected Ford vehicle owners. There is no repair invoice at the moment as my vehicle is currently still at the dealership awaiting parts.

My check engine light came on. The code was P0304. I had the spark plug and ignition coil replaced, but the check engine light came back on. The vehicle began to overheat. A technician was able to find that the coolant was leaking into the engine. I've taken it to a Ford dealership who confirmed this and has told me I need a new long block. The cost of this repair is over $9500. Upon researching this problem, it has been WELL documented since 2010 to be an issue with this engine, and NHTSA even issued a service bulletin about this issue with this year/make/model as of December 2019. The issue does not begin to happen until after the warranty period has passed, and the vehicle can catch fire with this defect. Knowing this issue exists, this engine needs to be recalled so that people do not need to worry about their vehicles overheating and catching fire! The responsibility of cost should not shift just because the issue does not present itself until a vehicle hits a higher mileage, which still is not that high.

My 2017 ford edge check engine light came on with an error code P0302 cylinder 2 misfire. I took it to a local mechanic who replaced the spark plugs and engine coils. Within 3 days the check engine light returned along with engine running rough. The mechanic discovered the same error code and decided the new engine coils were defective. 3 days later the same issue occurred. I have had my engine coils replaced 3 times. Today the mechanic completed a pressure test to discover that coolant is leaking into my engine and advised contacting ford as there has been a technical service bulletin by ford. I have now discovered this is a common issue with fords motor in the edge model and continuing to drive this vehicle will put myself and children in danger as there is a risk of engine fire.

About the car in January of 2022. I was told By more than one ford motor company service employee that ford motor company only installs new engines when an engine fails and has to be replaced. In a nine month period the car has had four new engines and two turbos. I learned after it needed the 2nd asylum. At the dealership who installed the 1st engine put a junk yard motor in it claiming it was new from Ford motor company. The parts numbers that are on the receipt are in fact ford motor company parts numbers. When the motor was taken out for the 2nd engine to be put in it I saw it with the service manager it had rushed all over it and a. Two thousand fourteen stamp on the back of it. They refuse to even acknowledge this and do anything about it. Meanwhile in one year I have over $40000 in cost for toes hotels and rental expense that they refuse to acknowledge. We took our vehicle in due to a check engine light and rough start and idle. Upon inspection -Code #P0303 (Cal 3 Misfire) The technician noted no coolant in reservoir and no external leaks were noted. They said we need a new engine because of that internal coolant leak and referred us to the manufacture to in hopes of replacing the engine.- My safety and the safety of my family was put at risk because the engine for one could have actually caught fire or stalled while driving. - Yes the problem has been reproduced and confirmed by a dealer. - No, the vehicle has not been inspected by police or insurance. - No, warning lamps did not originally turn on. It came at a much later time after the problem had been going on for a while.

Approximately one month ago I noticed that my engine began running roughly upon a cold start. The engine was misfiring and running rough until the vehicle warmed up. Shortly afterwards, the Check Engine light came on. I took my vehicle to the original Ford Dealer for service. The Service Consultant contacted within a day with the following information: - Identified the Check Engine light as an Engine Misfire in cylinder X (I don-??t recall) - Misfire was caused by coolant intrusion. I immediately asked if it was a head gasket. He said no, and proceeded to tell me: -Coolant is leaking into cylinder -There is a crack in the engine block between coolant passage and cylinder X - They have seen this in the past, and apparently is a known issue, and Ford has since fixed the design of this engine (EcoBoost 2.0L). - The extended warranty company denied the claim as their claim was that the "Engine Block" failure was NOT caused by the failure of an internally lubricated part. I have found the following information regarding this engine flaw: - There is a class-action lawsuit Reed et al. v. Ford Motor Company - 1:20-cv-01631 against Ford specifically about this problem. - Ford has issued a TSB (# 22-2229) outlining the issue, troubleshooting, and repair process. - This flaw can cause engine cooling issues, engine overheating, engine fire, catastrophic engine failure. - The fix to this problem is an Engine Long Block replacement. - There have been issues with other EcoBoost engines, and Ford has even issued a CSP to replace 1.5L EcoBoost engines on Ford Escapes. My confidence in vehicle reliability is non-existant at this point, and my main concern is that an engine failure will strand me or my family, or result in an engine fire.

A check engine light came on in our 2017 Ford Edge 2.0L engine and the engine would shake when turning the car on. After taking it to the dealership, the car had two codes that came up: 0316 and 0302. After inspecting the car further, the diagnosis was that it was a blown head gasket. The car has 34,000 miles, and this issue should not happen this early. After some research, we learned that Ford Edge with our 2.0L engine, years 2016-2018, keep having this engine issue. Our understanding is this is a known issue due to the block design and the head gasket seal not being sized large enough. This problem was reproduced by the dealership and the recommendation is to replace the entire engine with a new 2.0L produced after 2018 when Ford redesigned the engine addressing the problem. The online community is complaining of having to deal with very high repair costs of this issue (needing to replace the whole engine), but Ford has not addressed it with the many owners or issued a recall.

Very well known problem with the 2.0 echoboost engines coolant leaks causing cracks in the cylinders and engine failure. Could go up in flames and caused a staul when accelerating before diagnosis. Ford refuses to repair or recall and thousands are suffering because of this engine faulty design.

The engine light came on to warn me of an engine problem. Come to find out there is a Technical Service Bulletin on this issue for many Fords. This has been confirmed by Ford dealer service center and Ford customer service. This first appeared about a month ago in my car. However, Ford refuses to help and is making people buy new engines. This should be a RECALL. It is terrible that Ford is not being forced to recall all vehicles with this potential problem and cover the costs for repair. They are reponsible for this safety issue.

My engine has coolant intrusion, which makes the car more at risk for engine failure or can start on fire and the only way to fix is a whole new engine replacement. This vehicle only has 56,800 miles and ford isn-??t willing to replace engine because it-??s met its 5 year warranty period but has not meet the 60,000 warranty period. I use this vehicle to travel with my family and just thinking it could start on fire any time do to an engineer flaw is ridiculous. This vehicle poses safety concerns for many families and I hope you guys hold the manufacturer responsible for these issues.

The vehicle began making water sloshing sounds behind the dashboard and the check engine light came on. Upon inspection the mechanic found the car was very low on coolant. They had to add nearly 1 gallon back. The check engine light code was due to a cylinder misfire on start up. Ford has a bulletin 22-2229 detailing their knowledge of this exact issue. The dealership confirmed this is the issue this vehicle is experiencing. Had I continued to use the vehicle under these conditions, my engine could have experienced failure while driving. This could cause a serious accident putting the safety of passengers, pedestrians and other drivers at risk. While Ford acknowledges the existence of this issue, they have not made customers aware. This is Ford's description of this known issue- "Some 2015-2018 Edge and 2017-2019 Fusion/MKZ/Escape/MKC vehicles equipped with a 2.0L EcoBoost engine may exhibit a low coolant level, white exhaust smoke and/or a runs rough condition with or without an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL). Diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) may include P0300, P0301-P0304, P0316, P0217, P1285 and/or P1299 stored in powertrain control module (PCM). This may be due to coolant intrusion into the cylinder. To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure to replace the long block engine assembly."

We were driving down the road and the check engine light came on so we took it in and they said the #2 cylinder was miss firing. So they changed the plug and coil on #2. The check engine light went away until the next day when we drove it. So we took it back and they checked it again and it was the same issue. But after further checking they found that the #2 cylinder has coolant leaking into it causing the misfiring and engine using coolant. So after all of that they said I needed a new engine. It will cost me $7600 to replace it if I wanted to keep using my car. I did not have any other choice other than to have it fixed. I don-??t have the money to buy a new car so that-??s all we could do. We just got the car back and after 2 days it seems to be fixed. It-??s totally nuts that Ford will not pay anything towards fixing it. Also the guy at the dealership told me when I picked it up to drive for 3 years and then get rid of it because I have unlimited mileage warranty for that time. I have 76000 miles on the car when this happened and never in my years seen this on any car I have owned its totally rediculous that Ford will not HELP!!!!!!!

The motor started to overheat with no warning. Was in heavy traffic and had trouble getting out of the way. Took it to 2 different mechanics, one was a ford mechanic. They both said the same thing, its leaking coolant into one of the cylinders and that I need to replace the engine. There wasn't any kind of sign or warning that the motor was going to fail or mess up. Ford refuses to fix the problem and or help in some way to make it right. Ford knows about the 2.0 eco boost engine issues!!!!!
