Check engine light came on repeatedly, and final determination was the head gasket was leaking coolant into cylinders. Result, engine need to be replaced. Vehicle is a 2017 Ford Edge, 54M miles, but less than one month out of 5 year drivetrain warranty. Research shows that Ford has been aware of the problem for at least 3 years (NHTSA ID 10162071 and Ford TSB 19-2208 and TSB 19-2346). A head gasket should last for 200M miles. I found a website where at least 60 other owners are experiencing this problem, and for the most part, Ford is hiding behind the "expired warranty" excuse. Correction for this problem approaches $9000. My car now sits at a Ford dealer awaiting a replacement engine. The dealer is unable to give me any idea as to when I will get my car back. Ford has really dropped the ball on this, and I hope you can step in and get their attention.

The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the engine was overheated, and the fluid leaked into the engine. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 39,000. The contact stated that Ford is aware of the engine failure. However, when asked if the vehicle could be a part of the recall, Ford stated that recall is applied in order by the VIN. It is not yet available for the VIN of the contact's vehicle. No repairs or remedy has been offered yet.

I have a 2017 Ford Edge that at 64,930 miles (4,930 miles over warranty, but within warranty period by 2 months) the Check Engine Light came on in April, 2022 and computer diagnostic testing showed misfiring in a cylinder. All coils & plugs were replaced at a cost of over $700. Within days light reappeared, with engine running rough and again testing showed another misfire in a single cylinder. That coil was again replaced but check engine light again came on. At this point all coils were replaced with Motorcraft coils. Again light came on with more rough engine running. This went on for multiple times until repair shop suggested I call Ford. Over the phone the Ford Service Advisor diagnosed the issue as coolant contamination into the cylinders (evidently they've seen it before). I brought vehicle to a Ford Service Center and their diagnostic testing confirmed what the service advisor said and that I would need to replace engine at a cost of over $8000. This for an engine that wasn't even 5 years old and had less than 65,000 miles and had been properly maintained. An on-line check of carcomplaints.com shows this is not an isolated problem with the 2.0l Eco-Boost engine. I believe the rough running & coolant into the cylinders can lead to the engine stalling and engine overheating, both creating safety issues on the road. I know Ford has issued at least 7 Technician Service Bulletins pertaining to this issue since 2018, the most recent dated 6/10/22, all recommending long block engine replacement. That tells me that multiple engines, most with 60,000 to 70,00 miles with the same issue is a manufacturers defect and a recall should be in order. As I write this the Ford Service Center is waiting for a replacement engine to be delivered for installation into my vehicle During the MLB All-Star game, Ford ran multiple commercials stressing Ford Pride. A 5 year old engine with 64,930 miles needing to be replaced is nothing to be proud of.

Engine would rattle on startup. Check engine code came on dash. It revealed cylinder 2 misfire. Local mechanic replaced coil pack on 2 and all spark plugs on 5-30-22. Problem persisted and took it to Ford dealership on 7-29-22. Tech indicated gasket was warped on engine head and coolant was leaking into cylinder 2 which he showed me from a photograph from scoping cylinder 2. He informed my coolant was low. He quoted me a new engine as he stated that was the only solution by Ford. He added coolant to the fill line. He indicated it would only get worse over time and overheat. Coolant system was pressure tested and would not hold. I am concerned for my safety driving it as the coolant needs checked regularly or it may overheat which could pose a fire hazard.

Noticed the coolant was leaking and was not able to find visually. Took the vehicle to Ford Dealership on 7/19/22 and they said we need to replace the whole engine as Coolant is leaking into the Engine. This was a manufacture defect. There is already a recall for the same issue on the 1.5 engines, this is a 2.0 engine. The engine light had come on and stated the engine needed coolant. I was getting an oil change and they topped it off. The next day, the coolant was gone. I continued to refill and it kept disappearing, thus the reason for taking the vehicle to Ford. This was over a span of 4 days prior 7/15/2022. We asked for financial assistance to replace the engine and Ford refused. They said to pay the $7000 and if a recall was announced, we would get a refund. We don't have $7000 just sitting around, I am still paying on the vehicle with only 80,000 miles on it. We call on 7/29/2022 and they (ford) tells us to bring the vehicle back to the dealership on Monday and they will discuss help fixing the engine. We do this Monday 8/1/2022 and the supervisor we waited 2 hours on hold for, laughed throughout the conversation and even used the phrase "I know what its like to be poor" - completely unprofessional. Ford should back their product and fix any issues on engine because of faulty production.

Engine coolant getting into cylinders with symptoms of coolant loss, white exhaust smoke, rough running engine, and engine light on. This leads to rapid loss of coolant. I need to refill the coolant at the end of each day of driving, creating a potential further engine damage and risk of fire. A Ford dealership inspected the vehicle and determined these facts to be the case. The repair they deemed necessary is a new long block -- on my vehicle of only 45,000 miles -- at a price of $8,500.

My engine light came on -7/10/2022. Took it to Firestone because it was the weekend and they said they could fix the problem so I could have car back for the Monday morning. I drove it to work for exaclty a week and the engine light came back on-7/17/2022. Took it back to Firestone and he put it back on the diagnostic and found the same problem. He looked it up on Ford.com and found out that there is a problem with the engine long block and printed it out the report for me. I have an appoinment for August 2 to have them look at it because that was the only day can get me in.

(EcoBoost Engine) I took my Ford Edge to Art Hill Ford in Merrillville, Indiana because of coolant lost, overheating, engine sputtering and check engine light. The truck was diagnosed with coolant entering the number 3 cylinder. Cost to repair $5,725. The truck needs an engine. I was told by a service adviser that this is a problem that is common and known by ford. That Ford had previously help some of their customers with the cost to repair this problem. I was given a service number to call. I called the number and was told that ford would not help in any way with this problem. Doing research this is an ongoing problem with the head gaskets for this engine. Known by ford for years. This problem causing loss of engine power or failure, overheating, and or fire.

The engine in our 2017 Ford Edge leaks coolant into the cylinders, causing misfire and posing a fire hazard. We took our vehicle into the shop due to a check engine light and low coolant warning that came on randomly and were informed we needed a new engine. The check engine light never blinked to alert us of the misfiring cylinder. The mechanic noted that cylinder 1 was "full of coolant." The service advisor cited a technical service bulletin 22-2224 that detailed the defect of the engine on several models of vehicles across several years. There is no recall on the defect. The service advisor stated that Ford has been aware of the issue for years and redesigned the engine as a result. We were never notified about the potential issue.

The check engine light came on so I took it to do a diagnostic test and it said that it was a miss fire and the description came back that the spark plugs and coils needed to be replaced. Was able to replace them and the check engine light turned off. While sitting in a drive through with my 3 children in the car, the warning lights came on notifying that the engine was over heating. Went straight to a mechanic and they said that I had zero coolant in the car. They added coolant and I went about the day. 3 weeks later I turned on the car and after 10 minutes the warning lights came on that it was over heating again. Was able to get home and looked under the hood and the coolant was totally gone again.
