I pulled off into a gas station and when I started the car back up white smoke started coming out of the exhaust. I immediately shut the car down and called for a tow. I have bumper to bumper extended warranty and the company is saying that this is not covered. I am really disappointed; I took good care of this vehicle. I have read quite a bit about this issue and this particular vehicle having this issue in the past, I even see a pending class action lawsuit. I am just looking for some help.

Feedback from the mechanic.

Technician findings: Tech topped off coolant and performed road test and returned quickly due to vehicle over heating and showing "engine over heat" on display and a white smoke coming the exhaust. Tech continued to scan vehicle with the VCM and codes; P1026- engine coolant temp., P1299- cylinder head over temp., P2196- O2 bank 1 sensor 1; from vehicle. Tech found EGR cooler is leaking in vehicle has excessive blow by from engine and running rough. Need to install EGR cooler before engine diagnosis can be performed.

Tech installed new EGR cooler and performed road test. Vehicle has excessive crank case pressure and excessive blow by. Recommend new engine.

Tech removed engine and transmission separated transmission from engine and began tear down on engine. Removed heads and oil pan and removed pistons and found pistons oil rings seized from engine over heat.

CostGuard Response: Oil rings on pistons being stuck/seized are not a covered component for coverage. Head warpage still within specification. Stuck/seized oil rings not considered a mechanical breakdown.
