rear window shattered

My 2001 Ford Escape back rear glass window shattered by itself it was parked at the time there was no one around besides myself!!! When it shattered it cut my hand! a bunch of little shards of glass went everywhere> When it happened it sounded like a gunshot went off so I called the police and the police said there was no evidence of any kind there was no foul play that happened to the back window and that the glass must have shattered on its own!!!! I researched this and yes this same thing has happened to may people that own this type of vehicle> I would like for the Manufacture to replace my back window! The back glass window should not shatter on its own it was perfect weather condition outside there is no reason this should have happened!

Looks to me like there is a trend here....how many people have to go through this before Ford takes notice? I am a visiting nurse and rely on my car daily. I will now have to miss a day of work to hopefully get the rear window replaced on a Friday on Cape Cod. I worked all day out in the snow [got approx 4''], slipping on people's driveways that had coating of ice from the last storm, now hidden under fresh snow. Ran the rear window defroster all day, intermittent on the wiper/cleaner. There was ice build up on the wiper that I knocked off earlier in the day. The window shattered after I returned home for the afternoon as I was outside shoveling snow. Thank goodness it didn't happen as I was driving as today and tomorrow are the coldest days here in a decade [or so they are forecasting]. I will now be calling auto glass replacement companies/Ford dealerships in the am.

okay again there is something wrong with my Ford.

Today at 5pm I came out of the library, back to my car, got in, checked the rear view mirror, and my rear window looked liek it was frozen, weird..okay it was freezing but not that bad. So I got out, checked the window, and while I was standing there, glass was still falling, piece by piece my window was coming apart. Luckily it was still in there. So I drove it over to the garage and the mechanic will call me back tomorrow or Monday with an estimate for a new window.
