My power stering sensor light came on and had to be replaced there is a recall on this but not with my VIN number I want to know why not when I had the same problem as the recall and it was for 2008-2011 Escapes

My vehicle is displaying the electric steering assist failure warning and the steering wheel is shuddering at all speeds. The steering wheel also pushes back at times. Problem started at 115,000 miles. I have had extensive communication with fmc and they steadfastly refused to admit any liability. They say that they will never fix this issue under any circumstances unless the federal government forces them to do so. They suggest that I have a dealer fix it at my expense. There have been many reports of instantaneous failures resulting in loss of control. This is an inherent problem with all second generation Escapes. Over 1 million Ford vehicles have the faulty components. Ford is stonewalling the problem in an attempt to avoid the multi billion dollar tab. You must act quickly! most of us do not have $1500 to replace the electric steering unit. Many will continue to drive and endanger others in rapidly increasing numbers. Years before, the dealer replaced the power steering control module and the ic module, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the throttle body sensor and blower motor failed. The contact later experienced an extremely strong vibration in the steering wheel and the power steering warning light flashed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for further inspection to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 14V284000 (steering). The dealer replaced the parts. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 97,411.

The contact owns a 2010 Ford Escape. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 40 mph, the power steer suddenly failed causing the steering wheel to become very difficult to turn. The contact owns a 2010 Ford Escape. While driving 70 mph on the interstate, the power steering failed without warning. In order to drive the vehicle and feel safe, the vehicle was driven home via back roads. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the switch in the steering column and the power steering motor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was in the process of being repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 95,200.

Intermittent power steering failure. This failure has happened four times in the past year. The power steering failed at low and moderate speeds, on city streets, without warning. This issue is very dangerous and could easily case an accident. I have contacted customer service and have been referred to a local dealer to investigate the problem.

Vehicle was taken into Ford dealership to have recall 14S05C performed (Sept 2015). At that time there were no diagnostic trouble codes showing in the power steering control module. In Jan 2016 on 3 separate occasions the steering wheel shook back and forth and a chime sounded while the vehicle was in gear and stopped at a stop sign. No light was left turned on on the dashboard. I read the service codes from the power steering control module and code B2278 was present. Upon returning to the dealership I was informed that Ford is not responsible for replacing the failing part (that would have been covered under the recall if the code was present when I first brought the vehicle in).

I was making a long distance road trip and began to notice subtle vibrations in the steering wheel. The vibrations began to increase in intensity over time, most noticeably when the car was at idle. At one point the vibrations were very intense during idle. After a rest stop I turned the car on and tried to turn the steering wheel but had much difficulty. The electronic power steering assist was not functioning. I had previously brought my Escape to a Ford dealership for recall #14S05 where they updated the pscm to address the issue I was experiencing now. The torque sensor has failed causing the epas to shut off even after my car was supposedly fixed a year prior. Ford has failed to address the issue fully and the work done to correct recall #14S05 is insufficient.

Ford only put a alarm on during recall taken back 2 months later to be told would not cover cost of ECM sensor which cost $500. This is a safety issue that Ford will not cover. They found a way around replacing it with a alarm. How are you able to safely steer the vehicle going 55 when the alarm goes off the side of the rode. This is very daugerous. It went out twice on me. This needs to be looked in to immediately.

I had been driving, then made a brief stop. When I started my car and put in "drive" to begin driving, my power steering was out. It was very difficult to turn the steering wheel. Luckily I was only about 1.5 miles away. I managed to get home but had the car towed to northgate Ford in cincinnati, oh the next morning. After 3 days at the dealership, they called to say there was nothing wrong with it. I know that other Ford Escapes have been recalled for the power steering going out, but checked my VIN and mine was not involved......yet! two months later, I took the car in for continuing difficulty with starting (nothing would happen for about 10 turns of the key, then immediately would start) and inability to unlock/lock car with fob despite changing battery. They had to replace the ignition lock cylinder, cylinder module and bolt. Suddenly the car both started right away and the remote key fob worked as well.

Take it to dealerase and they say no recall, although it matches everything in the recall I'm currently looking at on this website. They refuse to do anything about it. Called their corporate office and was given the same info.

Power steerin assist fault warning came on while driving on highway. I pulled over to see what that ment in my vehicle manual. When I started the car back up I could not manage to turn the steering wheel to continue to drive and had the car towed. There is a recall for this exact problem, (steering torque sensor), yet Ford Motor Company will not honor it with my car, since it is not listed on the recall list.

The contact owns a 2010 Ford Escape. While driving approximately 30 mph, the vehicle lost steering power and the power assist failure light illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact pulled the vehicle over to a parking lot and called a local dealer. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the power steering angle sensor was replaced. A few days later, the contact noticed that the steering wheel felt weird and the vehicle was taken back to the dealer. The dealer diagnosed that the power steering rack needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the local dealer. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 68,415.

I had the recall 14S05C done in February to "fix" the potential electric power steering problem by reprogramming the pscm and ipc modules. Now in September I started my car and the steering just stopped working. Towed it to the dealer and they said the steering column and power steering needs to be replaced for a cost of $1,350. I sure hope Ford will pay for this. I mean, what's the point of a recall service if it doesn't fix the problem.

When came out of store and started the truck the power steering was not working. Called my husband and he had me look for the fill reservoir for the power steering and check the belt. He determined that it is a closed system. This has happened many times since then. It always happens when I start it not while I am driving. I have had to drive it that way as it is my only mode of transportation. Looked it up online and discovered there was a recall but the manufacturers date was only through 09/2010. Mine is 01/2011. The dealer told me they cannot do it as a recall because mine is not on the list. Even though it is the same problem as the earlier ones. Ford told me to save my receipts in case there was a recall and told me I had to contact NHTSA to file a complaint. I am afraid it will start to happen while I am driving and cannot afford to have it fixed. They need to extend the recall before someone gets hurt.
