The contact owns a 2013 Ford Escape. While driving various speeds, the vehicle jerked, shook, and sputtered. Eventually, the shifter became stuck in the neutral position. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the gear shift cable fractured and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified, but no assistance was offered. The local dealer was not notified. The failure mileage was 102,000.

My transmission failed in June, it was rebuilt and has already started to shift hard. So, once again back in the shop. The A/C has been acting funny. The rear vents barely work, blend door doesnt engage properly. Dealer has another vehicle identical to mine and it does the same thing.

First complaint is the internal door panels do not properly fit and come loose becoming caught on the frame of the car not allowing you to open the door to exit the vehicle which is highly dangerous in an emergency. 2) the shift selector switch broke as my spouse was driving the car not allowing him to shift the car into park or shut it off. This is highly dangerous and quite common a mechanics told us.

2013 Ford kuga 60,000 km. Automatic transmission. Engine stalls at random while driving. Stalls both at high and low speeds. Has been into dealer for service for two months, for the first 7 weeks they "could not fix it because they could not find an error code". after I drove it in a circle around the dealer for hours I was able to show them the problem and they obtained an error code, 'solenoid'. Ford says "maybe just replace whole transmission because we're not sure of the problem"

Vehicle powers down, leaks coolant, has rough ride, vibrates and has completely shut down atleast twice requiring a tow. Engine has hot smell to it, as if it is coming from hot coolant. Ford says "can't find a leak." They replaced a part on it, however I can not recall what it was because they were only guessing themselves as far as low coolant. However it did not fix it anyway. I have called Ford many times, but they show no recalls to any of the problems I have mentioned. I am a single mom & nurse, I need a reliable vehicle. It is so depressing to make payments on vehicle. By the way I have no warranty. The issues occur at any time on any roads.

Vehicle was driven away from a mechanics shop for a fly wheel repair. After approx. Mile of driving, the temperature warning light illuminated without the gauge showing a high temperature. I stopped at a red light. When the light turned green, no matter how I pressed on the accelerator, the car would not accelerate over 5 miles an hour. I had to navigate across 3 lanes of traffic to get to the side of the road. It drove for less than 50 ft then the engine completely shut off forcing me to push the car into a parking lot. Mechanics came, looked over the car then it started normally. They drove it back to the shop and hooked it to a computer but no codes were thrown. We could not recreate the issue. We decided to file a complaint because of our concern over all the blogs found online referencing the same issue. This could potentially be very hazardous if it happens on a highway which could result in bodily injury. This comes after this vehicle has been in the shop for over 4 months in the 8 months we have owned it for many issues including transmission, transmission bracket, transmission plug failure, wiper motor, fly wheel and a sensor issue.

Vehicle was in drive, the engine was making a noise and after applying the brake for a turning car in front of me, I went to apply the gas and it would not accelerate. I put the vehicle in park, while on a state road and then moved the gear shift into drive and got it to a garage about two blocks away from the incident. Shut the vehicle off and one of their mechanics took it for a drive, came back and said nothing was wrong. So I got in the car and about 3 to 4 miles up the road, it started acting up again. I took it to the dealership that I purchased it from and after replacing a water pump, coolant level sensor and axle seal, they told me it was fixed, so I went to pick it up. After I paid $822.08 for the bill, I drove the vehicle a block and the incident occurred again, so I drove it back to the dealership and told them that they didn't fix the original problem that I brought it in for. They contacted me that it is something in the transmission, which is very expensive. Now I am left with a year of car payments on a vehicle that isn't drivable. It doesn't appear that Ford or the dealership is going to stand behind a defective product. The vehicle has never been driven off road or abused, actually I have taken it faithfully for all recall repairs and servicing needs.

2013 Ford Escape sel stalling when accelerating from a stop. This has happened several times with my wife driving the car. We've taken it into the local Ford dealership only to be told they cant replicate issue. Driving the car to work today (my wife now drives my car for safety concerns), the Escape hesitated when pulling out of the parking lot and onto the road. Have another appointment to have it looked at but will probably be told that it can't be replicated. This car only has 60K miles and is totally worthless, and unsafe to drive.

Vehicle was in drive and suddenly lost power. The accelerator was pressed but the vehicle stopped driving forward even though the engine was running. The engine did not rev. The dash light indicating the transmission disappeared. The vehicle suddenly jumped into gear so hard I suffered whiplash. It did this several times as I attempted to get clear of heavy traffic. I literally thought I had been rear ended at one point as the car jolted so hard. After getting out of the roadway, the transmission failure service now light came on. This is consistant with the PCM wiring harness recall done on other 2013 Escapes but was not covered for my particular vehicle. The jolts to the vehicle kicking in gear destroyed the transmission. I was in motion at the time, in bumper to bumper traffic. I was lucky not to strike or be hit by another vehicle. I have contacted Ford but they state my car was not covered under that recall and that they will not help me.

My car started acting up when the check engine light came on. It has run at lower speeds, sputtering and seems to have loss of power while driving in local conditions no more than 15 miles or so. I called Ford where I purchased the vehicle, and they offered to tow it. At first they made it seem like everything is covered, and now its 2 weeks later after them telling me its some sort of sensor that needs to be replaced and the cost is 1100 dollars, the car is 3 years old with 30000 miles on it, they will not fix the car until payment is made. It seems that its an issue they should have to fix on there dime not mine.

The contact owns a 2013 Ford Escape. While driving various speeds, the vehicle would shift hard and a warning indicator illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was towed to the dealer; however, the details of the diagnosis could not be provided. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that the windshield wiper fractured while the vehicle was being repaired. After the windshield wiper was repaired, the windshield was fractured by the dealer. The contact stated that the vehicle continued to shift hard after the repair. While attempting to accelerate from a stop, the vehicle would stall. The vehicle was shut off and turned back on, and the vehicle returned to normal. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, but the cause of the failure could not be determined. Also, while pulling into a parking spot, the contact heard an abnormal noise and the vehicle stalled after moving three feet. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The VIN and failure mileage were unknown.

Escape

  • 28,000 miles
Purchased used 07/27/16 and since then, on three occasions while going up small inclines the vehicle acted as though it slipped out of gear and started and the motor started to rev up, as if I had floored the gas peddle. After pulling to the roadside, the engine slowed down to normal RPM's after about 5 seconds, so I put the vehicle in park and back into drive and it seemed to be ok again. On the third incident it did the same thing seemingly slipping out of gear and throttled way up, however this time a display showed engine fault, and when I tried to take off again the vehicle sputtered like it was going to die until I brought it to a stop and turned off the motor. When I restarted the message was gone and the vehicle has been running fine for a couple of days now. I had it tested to see if any diagnostic codes were stored, but it showed none. It took about 30 days for it to act up between the first and second incident, but only a week from the second to the third incident. Ford doesn't seem to have any answers, unless a code shows up in the module, however that has not happened.

Purchased used 2013 Ford Escape vehicle with approximately 33K miles in October of 2014. Purchased extended warranty as warranty was due to expire at 36K miles. A week or two after purchase, car stalled. In the shop it went. Several months later check engine light came on. In the shop it went again. Multiple times later car has been in the shop again for same "check engine light" for 2-3 weeks at a time; transmission replaced twice. The car was back in shop again last week for same issue check engine light this time dealer claims purge valve issue.
