Takata recall: Engine light on message engine failure!!! kit-term ab part # 3U2Z.14A088 part $17.40 wire $1.74 labor $558 total at Ford dealership $577.14 + $99 to run the test! there are a lot of complaints on this problem and needs to be a recall. Ford needs to deal with this issue. It's a faulty part. I took it in right away as you should with any engine light. The light came on when I started it one day and only drove it to dealership.

The contact owns a 2013 Ford Escape. While driving approximately 30 mph, the vehicle shut off without warning. The vehicle was restarted and was pulled over to the side of the road. The failure recurred and the vehicle was taken to the dealer (midland Ford, 500 joe mann blvd, midlan, mi 48642, 989-631-0040) where it was diagnosed that the wiring to the sensor needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to NHTSA. The failure mileage was approximately 45,000.

My car has ran a 100% since the day I bought it. I went to go move my car after I cut my grass and instantly my power steering sensor went off as soon as I started my car stating that it required service due to it not working. Just like that. No earlier warnings, no malfunctions prior to this incident, nothing. I am a mother of 4 daughters and thankfully I was just trying to reposition my vehicle in my yard vs. Driving down the road or else it could have caused severe bodily harm to us or even worse, it could have caused a major accident that could have resulted in death. I called the Ford dealership and they stated even with so many complaints on this particular model, make, and year having this exact problem, this is not a recall yet. I researched it myself and found out that the 2013 Ford Fusion also has this problem, but there is currently an active recall for the Fusion, but not the Escape. I am confused on this. Are they waiting on a death toll to rise due to Ford's malfunctioning part and a lawsuit before they decide that this is a real serious issue or is it because of the lack of concern for Ford customers and families they had when they decided to use this poorly planned electrical design that is continuously malfunctioning? or maybe its because they know that this is a big issue and charging customers over $1700 to fix this poorly planned product that is going to cost someone their lives was going to make their service department revenue sky rise with this power steering problem being high in demand. I don't understand why one model of Ford with the same year is on recall for this, but the other model with the exact same set up and year is not. I am a single mother of 4 daughters that is still paying on this $19,000 vehicle that is now parked in my yard because it is too expensive to fix. Thanks Ford!!!

Started vehicle and the wipers came on automatically and would not shut off (despite the wipers being in the off position). The car was stationary. Turned car off. Immediately turned car back on and the wipers would not work at all. Wipers will not work when raining and go from constantly working to not working at all for no reason. Very dangerous if it is raining, snowing, or any precipitation in the sky.

2013 Ford Escape SE 1.6 L 4cyl I hope there is an investigation that is on going. My Ford is over heating and sometimes it wont start because of a software fix that was supposed to fix the problem. Turns out it delays the inevitable. My car is now at the Ford dealer for the second time. To make things worse, I woke up one day and my power steering didnt work. I go to work with no power steering and when I start it again it works, very weird. All in all, I do not think Ford did enough. The coolant system or the engine needs to be replaced.

Vehicle powers down, leaks coolant, has rough ride, vibrates and has completely shut down atleast twice requiring a tow. Engine has hot smell to it, as if it is coming from hot coolant. Ford says "can't find a leak." They replaced a part on it, however I can not recall what it was because they were only guessing themselves as far as low coolant. However it did not fix it anyway. I have called Ford many times, but they show no recalls to any of the problems I have mentioned. I am a single mom & nurse, I need a reliable vehicle. It is so depressing to make payments on vehicle. By the way I have no warranty. The issues occur at any time on any roads.

I was driving my 2013 Ford Escape at night and my instrument cluster information display with system warnings and odometer display started blinking colors, then black and white, and on and off. It has gone black several times and then it seem to work fine for a short time, and then it will all of a sudden start again. This happens on streets, highways, day and night. This started 3 weeks ago. My odometer is around 50,000. I checked on line for recalls and have read several other 2013 owners finding the same thing that I did, there is a recall for this on the 2014 models (recall (15C03 - reprogram instrument panel cluster) issued against 2014 Ford Escape for the same issue) but does not include the 2013 models. Please help.

My vehicle is telling me my coolant is low but it is not its also telling me im due for an oil change and has been coming off and on for the past 10 months ive had it serviced numberous(8) times had my coolant flushed and sensors checked. Had it serviced at the place I bought it and at airport Ford. Even had my motor replaced 5 months ago. This issue is keeping me from driving my vehicle because once its (hot) it will shut the vehicle down..I can get in it start it after not driving it for hrs and pull out of my driveway and it says its over-heating. And will say stop safely. And the vehicle will shut down. Ive been stranded 3 times from this happening. I check the coolant and its not low or over full. I really hope nothing happens while im driving or when I have my 3 yr old daughter in the car with me. Thank god its only been on my way home from work.the place were I bought the vehicle has my paperwork for the replacement of the motor. And the cost.

The cars engine stalls and dies after pulling out of parking lot or driveway while turning on intersection or just turned from a curb. It starts to slow down and doesn't respond to stepping on gas. Then the dashboard light indicators turn on- battery, check engine, oil, etc. I had to put the cark on park, then turn the engine off. Restart it, cranks a bit before going to full start. Changed to drive transmission, then stepped on the gas. It started going then only a few feet later, the whole cycle starts again. In a couple of instances, itha--ened 4 types before I was able to drive normally. Theses happened a couple of times driving out of shopping complex, once just after I pulled out of my driveway and 2 houses down. Another time when I was pulling out of a hospital. It happened 3 times before I can even reach the highway, 3 curb turns from my parking spot. Another instance stalled 4 times when im leaving the parking area of our rec center into the street.

Vehicle was in drive and suddenly lost power. The accelerator was pressed but the vehicle stopped driving forward even though the engine was running. The engine did not rev. The dash light indicating the transmission disappeared. The vehicle suddenly jumped into gear so hard I suffered whiplash. It did this several times as I attempted to get clear of heavy traffic. I literally thought I had been rear ended at one point as the car jolted so hard. After getting out of the roadway, the transmission failure service now light came on. This is consistant with the PCM wiring harness recall done on other 2013 Escapes but was not covered for my particular vehicle. The jolts to the vehicle kicking in gear destroyed the transmission. I was in motion at the time, in bumper to bumper traffic. I was lucky not to strike or be hit by another vehicle. I have contacted Ford but they state my car was not covered under that recall and that they will not help me.

In addition, the vehicle stalled, the rpms decreased, and the power steering failed. The driver was able to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed with a computer glitch. The computer was reset, but the failure recurred. The dealer diagnosed that the vehicle overheated and the computer was reset again. The failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer again where it was diagnosed with too many communication codes. The vehicle was not repaired and was taken to a different dealer. The diagnosis was unknown. The manufacturer was made aware of the failures. The contact was able to file a case with the manufacturer. The failure mileage was approximately 46,000.

Engine fault light illuminated and message appeared stating to have the vehicle serviced immediately. Upon inspection by the dealer service department, this problem was found to be with a portion of the electrical wiring harness which due to its placement had abraded causing a short and erroneous engine fault message. Ford currently has a recall for a similar/identical problem with other builds of this vehicle. It would seem that this recall should be expanded to include a wider manufacturing time frame. Owners who have paid for this repair should be reimbursed.

Two problems. 1.) remote start not working properly. It shuts itself off within 30seconds due to corrosion on negative terminal wiring to battery. Unknown cause why the corrosion would occur on my battery. I take care of my car and it is in the garage when not in use. 2.) engine suddenly stopped while driving. Unknown reason. Told that I need to have a software upgrade done to the computer system on my car, but not told if this would fix the stalling 100%. unclear why I would need to pay for an upgrade so my engine does not stall when driving. The car should work and drive without stalling. If I need a upgrade to the computer engine software so the car will not stall then I would expect this to be covered by Ford on a recall. This was very scary and dangerous to have your car suddenly stop working while driving without any prior warning. I did not get any signals that the engine was going to stop, it just stopped suddenly while driving on a city street after leaving work.
