  • 78,690 miles
Bought vehicle used at 73200 miles. Transmission went bad and replaced at 74000 miles, under dealer warranty. Code ready incorrect gear. Car said transmission fault service immediately. At 78690 miles vehicle started to shift irregularly again after descending a large hill (800+ foot elevation over 2-3 miles) and the transmission fault alert occurred again. Vehicle was able to move but had no power to ascend a small hill (~50 foot). Had to be towed to dealer.

The transmission in my 2014 Escape has gone out. There shouldn't be transmission issues in a 4 year old car. When the car was in drive, it would rev up to 4-5 rpms like it was in neutral before it would move. It would increase speed very slowly. It would jerk like it wouldn't go into gear. The transmission has to be fully replaced. I should not have this problem or expense in a 4 year old car. It is at J.O. Ford dealership in gladewater, tx. Getting repaired now.

Car was occasionally jerking, making a clunking sound when shifting up/down. Then the "transmission fault." Warning came on. Took it to golden Ford Lincoln in camden Arkansas. Their diagnostics showed "torque converter input shaft return was restricted and burnt up transmission." Cost us $4962.62 to replace the transmission, ridiculous! having a total transmission failure with only 71250 miles on a modern car is terrible.at least it didn't fail at speed on the highway.

Low coolant check system light on randomly, diagnosed as defective water pump at 56,000 miles. Water pump on back order and not available for 2 weeks, then 3 -5 days shipping and 2 - 3 days repair. I have scheduled a long vacation and have already missed a week of it. Ford has authorized a rental car until the repair, but my vacation destination is 11 hours away. I do not understand why there is not a water pump available within a more reasonable amount of time. It will be a total of 3 - 4 weeks until the repair can be made under warranty.

Stopped while driving at 25 mph on highway at a blind spot. Motor just revved in drive. After playing with it for 10 mins was able to crawl off the road.. after being towed to dealer it has been said that the transmission is bad. Under normal driving not towing or hauling it should not do this at 87K.. first maintenance calls at 150K

We took vehicle in for recall repairs at Ford dealer. When we drove it home on city street at 35 mph the rear of the car started shaking and transmission fault light came on. The dealer said it was a bad rear drive shaft bearing. It needs to be repaired as it is a safety issue and could cause an accident when driving. The cost of repair was $500. After the repair we drove it home on city street at 40 mph the transmission fault light came back on. Ford dealer said it could be a shift solenoid repair for $500 if that does not work it would be a torque converter repair at a cost of $3500. It needs to be done as it is a safety issue and could cause an accident when driving. The car has 40000 miles and is in excellent condition.

Purchased vehicle on 2/17/2018 with 73,600 miles on the vehicle on 2/20/2018 drove vehicle for approximately 6 hours (pittsburgh to cleveland and back) near the end of the return trip, the transmission started to randomly downshift and up shift on relatively level ground while cruise control was on at about 67 mph. Within a minute of this behavior, the information display indicated a transmission fault: Service immediately. I pulled over and turned the car off and on again. The fault cleared. Called dealer and stated my issue. Took car to dealer (smail Honda greensburg, pa) on 2/21. On the trip to the dealer, the fault happened two more times. One of those times I heard a loud clunking noise.while I was applying the brakes. Dealer found a wrong gear ratio fault on the transmission and is replacing the unit with one that has 46000 mile on it. All occurrences of the fault were on the highway above 50mph vehicle had 74400 miles when dealer took possession to repair

The transmission blew on this car after 3 1/2 years of ownership, 87,000 miles. The transmission began slipping (I.e., loss of power upon shifting to accelerate) after about 1 year of ownership. I asked our local dealer where I purchased the car to check and they could not replicate. The slippage kept happening periodically, but not often enough that I could figure out what was going on. It was after the transmission blew and I researched "blown transmission" online that I realized what had been going on for years in a new car. When it did blow, I was driving, running errands around town, and was coming to a stop at a light. As I tried to put it back into gear and drive when the light turned green it would not engage into a gear to move the car. Left me stranded. Everything else was running, including the sync operated "engine assessment system" which ran an assessment and said everything in the care was operating fine, including the transmission! I had to pay for a rental car, towing for the vehicle, and it would cost me $6700 to replace the transmission. It was so damaged the service guy said it could not even be repaired. We ultimately donated the car but got nothing for a car that was 3 1/2 years old in great condition. Very disappointing. And the dealer never offered me anything...to pay for rental car or the diagnostic to tell me they had to replace the transmission, or even for parts for the car. I'll never buy a Ford car again.

Driving down the interstate I receive a warning light "transmission fault service now". I contacted mt view Ford and was informed there is a wait on transmission work and the earliest they could get me in is December 20th. Being concerned and not wanting to wait a month and a half to get it looked at. I contacted a local transmission shop they hooked my vehicle up and received (2) internal codes 1721 & 1744. The transmission requires a complete rebuild @ 83,000 miles. I've read other customers having the same problem with these transmissions. Please issue a recall on the transmissions for the 2014 Ford Escape.

108,000 miles going down expressway at 75 mph when the transmission catastrophically failed and had to coast onto the side of the expressway. Complete transmission at just over 100,000 miles on a 2014 (only 3 years) old is not acceptable and could create unsafe driving conditions. I was fortunate to be able to coast to the shoulder.

Since shortly after purchasing the vehicle it began having issues with the transmission. They included uncontrolled acceleration, deceleration, rough shifting, transmission and fluid leaks. The vehicle has been in the shop multiple times from 1 day to over 90 days at a time. Several repairs took 5-7 weeks. Initially the Ford dealership and Ford Motor Co. Covered the repairs and provided a rental car on two occasions. The issue has not been fully resolved as the vehicle has been in the Ford shop since April 1, 2017 while it was being diagnosed and I tried to discuss the issues with Ford since they refused to cover the repairs. Ford denied our claim to replace the vehicle with less than 25,000 miles on the vehicle under the California "lemon law" statutes. The issues have nearly caused several accidents and the vehicle had to be towed to the shop at one point as I felt it was unsafe to drive. The uncontrolled acceleration and deceleration usually took place at freeway speeds of 55-70 mph. The rough shifting was commonly during a first start or when approaching or pulling away from a stop at an intersection. It would shift rough at speeds 20-35 on residential roadways. The leaks were typically discovered after freeway driving. I have numerous documents and the system would not accept them all so I uploaded a few as samples. The vehicle has been in the shop since April 1, 2017 so I do not have the documents showing the current issues. Ford has been difficult to work with and has refused to cover any repairs. Ford Motor Company informed me that they "self report" claims like this to NHTSA and provide NHTSA with my contact information. They also told me my only options would be to file a lawsuit against Ford or report the issue to NHTSA as a safety concern. I believe this vehicle has an inherent defect that is a serious safety issue.

While pulling out into traffic on July 3, 2017, moving at 30 mph, the engine suddenly lost all power and the transmission downshifted causing the car to quickly decelerate nearly causing a rear end collision. The engine warning light indicated an engine fault requiring immediate service. The engine continued running but with hardly any acceleration then loss of power and bucking. I pulled to shoulder and was able to limp home about a mile with engine running erratically all the way. Called aaa and had vehicle towed to hammonasset Ford in madison ct for service on July 4 2017. Awaiting response from them at this time.
