The transmission blew on this car after 3 1/2 years of ownership, 87,000 miles. The transmission began slipping (I.e., loss of power upon shifting to accelerate) after about 1 year of ownership. I asked our local dealer where I purchased the car to check and they could not replicate. The slippage kept happening periodically, but not often enough that I could figure out what was going on. It was after the transmission blew and I researched "blown transmission" online that I realized what had been going on for years in a new car. When it did blow, I was driving, running errands around town, and was coming to a stop at a light. As I tried to put it back into gear and drive when the light turned green it would not engage into a gear to move the car. Left me stranded. Everything else was running, including the sync operated "engine assessment system" which ran an assessment and said everything in the care was operating fine, including the transmission! I had to pay for a rental car, towing for the vehicle, and it would cost me $6700 to replace the transmission. It was so damaged the service guy said it could not even be repaired. We ultimately donated the car but got nothing for a car that was 3 1/2 years old in great condition. Very disappointing. And the dealer never offered me anything...to pay for rental car or the diagnostic to tell me they had to replace the transmission, or even for parts for the car. I'll never buy a Ford car again.

Driving down the interstate I receive a warning light "transmission fault service now". I contacted mt view Ford and was informed there is a wait on transmission work and the earliest they could get me in is December 20th. Being concerned and not wanting to wait a month and a half to get it looked at. I contacted a local transmission shop they hooked my vehicle up and received (2) internal codes 1721 & 1744. The transmission requires a complete rebuild @ 83,000 miles. I've read other customers having the same problem with these transmissions. Please issue a recall on the transmissions for the 2014 Ford Escape.

108,000 miles going down expressway at 75 mph when the transmission catastrophically failed and had to coast onto the side of the expressway. Complete transmission at just over 100,000 miles on a 2014 (only 3 years) old is not acceptable and could create unsafe driving conditions. I was fortunate to be able to coast to the shoulder.

Since shortly after purchasing the vehicle it began having issues with the transmission. They included uncontrolled acceleration, deceleration, rough shifting, transmission and fluid leaks. The vehicle has been in the shop multiple times from 1 day to over 90 days at a time. Several repairs took 5-7 weeks. Initially the Ford dealership and Ford Motor Co. Covered the repairs and provided a rental car on two occasions. The issue has not been fully resolved as the vehicle has been in the Ford shop since April 1, 2017 while it was being diagnosed and I tried to discuss the issues with Ford since they refused to cover the repairs. Ford denied our claim to replace the vehicle with less than 25,000 miles on the vehicle under the California "lemon law" statutes. The issues have nearly caused several accidents and the vehicle had to be towed to the shop at one point as I felt it was unsafe to drive. The uncontrolled acceleration and deceleration usually took place at freeway speeds of 55-70 mph. The rough shifting was commonly during a first start or when approaching or pulling away from a stop at an intersection. It would shift rough at speeds 20-35 on residential roadways. The leaks were typically discovered after freeway driving. I have numerous documents and the system would not accept them all so I uploaded a few as samples. The vehicle has been in the shop since April 1, 2017 so I do not have the documents showing the current issues. Ford has been difficult to work with and has refused to cover any repairs. Ford Motor Company informed me that they "self report" claims like this to NHTSA and provide NHTSA with my contact information. They also told me my only options would be to file a lawsuit against Ford or report the issue to NHTSA as a safety concern. I believe this vehicle has an inherent defect that is a serious safety issue.

While pulling out into traffic on July 3, 2017, moving at 30 mph, the engine suddenly lost all power and the transmission downshifted causing the car to quickly decelerate nearly causing a rear end collision. The engine warning light indicated an engine fault requiring immediate service. The engine continued running but with hardly any acceleration then loss of power and bucking. I pulled to shoulder and was able to limp home about a mile with engine running erratically all the way. Called aaa and had vehicle towed to hammonasset Ford in madison ct for service on July 4 2017. Awaiting response from them at this time.

"takata recall"......I stopped by 7-11 atm to get some money and other items...upon returning to my vehicle I noticed it would not start. The dashboard said it was in reverse even though it was in park mode. I spend approximately 3.5 hours on the phone with the Ford Motor Company trying to get some real help. After no success, I went thru three different customer service reps who were not knowledgeable on how to handle a vehicle that was disabled, stuck in reverse and would not start. I ended up calling aaa and had it towed to my own mechanic because I called three Ford dealership stated that it would be at least 2-3 weeks before someone could check out my vehicle. In addition, they were not cooperative in helping me get a rental car either and stated they would not cover the cost of renting a car. My own mechanic who has serviced all my vehicles and there has never been an issue... advised me that the brake cable or something to that effect was broken. I just don't understand how that is possible since I just purchased the vehicle 10/2016. This is the second time in 9 months I've had issues with Ford and their faulty products. April 2017 Ford motors settled with me over my 2013 Ford Focus which was in an out of the shop since March 2015. I've had to go thru numerous agencies to get any real help. I've spoken with my mechanic today and was given an approx estimate of $700 to repair and my car won't be available until next week. In addition, it's costing $170 to rent a car to get back and forth to school and work until Monday. I am looking for Ford to reimburse me for my expenses and cost to repair my vehicle. Or the other alternative is to buy back the vehicle. I will never purchase another vehicle from Ford again.

My car is having same exact issues as reported in recall #14S17 yet my VIN is not included. My vehicle is currently still in garage, going on 2 weeks now, and they just told me 6 our of 7 parts are covered under my warranty yet 1 part, the wiring assembly ec sensor is not and will be $800 to fix. My vehicle literally would stall while driving and had severe hesitation after I turned it off and back on. How can my vehicle in the same year be experiencing same issues as the recall but not be included in the recall because of my VIN # and now I'm responsible for the $800? we were headed to little Washington, pa and the whole ride up was a hesitation every once in a while while driving down the road. Then at one point the car just stalled while driving. Turned off and back on and at a red light intersection, hit the gas to go and would not move. Turned off and back on and took awhile for the car to go but thankfully we made it home and immediately called Ford and made appt at closest dealer to take it to. 2 weeks later and it is still there. The just called 3 days ago to tell be about the parts and not covered. I then called Ford back and left my cell phone # to contact me back since I was in the office this week and they called and left a message on home phone explaining that part was not covered under warranty. I am not pleased at all with the dealer first off that took so long and lack of communication or Ford for just saying oh well suck it up and pay it. I searched internet and saw this recall that matched my car's experiences to a "T".

As I was backing out of a parking spot, vehicle became stuck in reverse. Shift arm was stuck in reverse and could not be moved. My foot had to remain pressed down on brake pedal to prevent vehicle from moving farther backward and hitting nearby parked vehicles. Vehicle was turned off to prevent further backward movement, which left vehicle blocking oncoming vehicles moving through lot. Vehicle was towed to dealer. Dealer diagnosed problem as a loose shifter arm bolt. Bolt was tightened.

I just bought the car in March 2017 and we took it on a trip to the beach. Almost there the car started jumping into gear when we took off at the red light. They started getting closer and more harder at each stop so we stopped at a store to check it.theres no dip stick to check the trany with so we thought it might of got hot even though we stopped often. It seemed to help then it started doing it again after some time.we had already paid for the hotel so we went on and stayed with out going many places for fear of not getting back home.on the way home it still did the same but not on the interstate.seems it only did it at stops and starts in towns at lights and stop signs. The Ford company has had my car in the shop since I got back home and ive made the first payment with 2 weeks driving out of it.they say it needs a new transmission, but by the car fax paper it was just replaced a month ago. Its gonna be another month before I get it back, because they have to order it. Just hope I don't have to go through this any more. Love the little SUV, just hate all this trouble I'm having out of

I bought this car brand new, within the first 600 miles I took a trip to northern Michigan ( about 200 mi. ) and the transmission " banged " into 6th gear every time it down shifted to 5th going up any grade and shifted back to 6th, other times when I go to pull out of somewhere it will act like its looking for a gear before I barely start moving, had it back to Ford a number of times, they say its fine... now has 46000 on it, still does it, have called and sent registered letters to Ford, they say buy extended warranty and work with the dealer (lol ).. they just claim they check it and even ask if I thought about trading it in... ya right....what I would like is for them to fix it. Sometimes when I back out of a parking spot and put it in drive, it then too don't go, looks for a gear for a few seconds (you can hear it making noise) then will take off
