It only happens when you drive the car for a while (45+ minutes), turn it off, and then start it up 15-45 minutes later. It will start but then within the first 100 yards it will go sluggish and stall. When I try to give it gas that doesn't help. I have to turn the car off, put it in park and start it back up. A few times it's stalled 3 times in a row. Once it gets going good it's fine. It's always fine if it's been off for a while (first thing in the morning or starting after work). Eventually the service engine light came on, I took it to a shop, a guy diagnosed it, changed out a sensor and the fuel pump. It didn't help.

I started my vehicle yesterday to warm up and about 5-10 minutes later heard a big boom, looked out the door and the front end of my Escape was completely engulfed in flames. I had scheduled it to get repaired yesterday morning, but was unable to make it as we received a lot of snow and schools were cancelled and such. I had known of the recall since last year since I already was involved in another recall with the latch. I tried to get them taken care of at the same time, but the remedy was not available and wouldn't be for some time. I received a notice directly from Ford between one and two weeks ago and called ziegler in elkhart to make an appointment, but they weren't available for almost a week. It is obvious the damage was already done with my car anyway, considering the description of the recall, which a whole process of the cylinder head cracking, coolant leaking out and that potentially causing a fire in the engine compartment. I am thankful that the car was just warming up in our driveway and neither my kids nor myself were inside. I am also grateful that our house didn't catch fire and just sustained some cosmetic damage due to the heat. I do not have the report from the fire department yet, but they said it would be available soon. It was the penn township fire dept that responded and I talked to durgan spinsky whose work number is 5742555075 * (recall related incident)

After about (3) months after purchasing the car, the electronic instrument cluster started flickering. I didn't pay too much attention to it. After a while, the screen completely went out. I took it to the dealership for an oil change & they told me that it was out of warrantee & it would cost me at least $750 to replace the whole electronic instrument cluster & that they would have to keep the car for at least 3 days because they had to keep the car until they receive the new cluster & install it. If there are others with the same problem, I would like some advice.

The car suddenly stalls out. Has been fixed once already but has happened numerous times sine the repair. Would happen pulling out of driveway or through parking lot until this last time. I merged onto a major freeway and was up to 75-80mph and the car stalled out, almost hit by 2 semis trying to avoid re ending me on the freeeway. Consumer stated never had a brake failure. Issue was engine stall. Updated 9/4/18

My vehicle keeps stalling and dying when I am driving at a slow speed (roadway or parking lot alike), I replaced the battery to make sure that wasn't causing it and it still does it. I started to research the issue and apparently there was a recall for that model for the wiring harness and the description matches my issue. I called the dealership and was told that my vehicle does not have the recall. I did more research and there are numerous accounts of dealerships stating this is not a recall and some people were almost injured because of this. Vehicles stopping while driving is very dangerous. This recall definitely needs to be expanded. The code reported for this is tsp 13-12-12. The electronic screen in the instrument panel has failed. Ford recalled this model under safety recall number "15V406000". however, the recall make date stopped one month before my car make date. My vehicle has a blank screen but is currently not covered. The screen stopped working in July, 2017 with 53000 miles on the car. I was given an estimate of $750 to repair.

1. seat belt: Driver's seat belt unexpectedly stopped working and will not click or lock into place. The seat belt pretensioners to not function as intended when needed, increase the risk of occupant injury in the event of a crash. 2: electrical system: Instrument panel: Blank display, or often times inresponsive. If the instrument cluster is inoperative, the driver of may not be warned of safety related issues such as low tire pressures or disabled air bags, increasing the risk of personal injury or a crash. 3.body: Door: The body of the rear drivers side door is often hard to close and the body of the door often comes off. A door that opens unexpectedly in the result of not being able to close, may result in an unrestrained occupant falling from the vehicle, increasing the risk of injury.

The display screen which shows mileage and tire pressure just randomly went out. It was as if there was some sort of short. The screen would come on with lines through it and try to show the display and then completely whited out. This was while the vehicle was parked. I went out to start it one day on my way to work and there was nothing visible.

In 3 days my car had died 6 times. First time I thought maybe I had left something on and drained the battery. I had someone at work jump me, and I went on my way. The following 5 times, I had to repeatedly push the start button while trying to push down on the break. Eventually the car starts but all of my electronics go crazy. I took it to the dealership today, drove 20 miles to get there, turned the car off, when they tried to move it, it wouldn't start. I showed them how you have to keep pushing the button while everything electrical goes crazy. Dealership blaming the battery, but what is causing the battery to drain so fast? my concern is that all the electronics go crazy and it decides to die whenever it wants. Hope I am not driving with my two small children!!!! based on what I am reading online, I am not the only person having this issue!

Instrument panel cluster is inoperative. Blank multifunctional display. There has been a recall placed for this issue for safety concerns on vehicles manufactured at the same plant between May 19, 2014 to February 6, 2015. The number for the recall is 15C03. My vehicle isn't included. My vehicle is from the same manufacturing plant, but with the date of March 2014. My car however does have a recall of the coolant system, possible overheated with fire has been reported. I am waiting for parts. If it were to overheat I would have no warning with the instrument panel inoperative. Also with weather changing, I have no warning for proper tire inflation and several other safety concerns. If the recall was placed because a "safety concern" was recognized, how can my vehicle be eliminated in the recall. It's the same safety concern.

  • 70,000 miles
On February 2017 I brought a 2014 Ford Escape at about 59 K miles and now it has about 70K miles on it. I was totally clueless as to how unsafe this car was and all of the numerous complaints/issues that consumers are having with this car. On 09/22/2017, this car totally broke down. This car is a safety hazard as I almost got into an accident as the car without made a loud noise, and without any warning just stopped/shut down in traffic. None of the safety indicator alerts worked in this car so I was clueless that the card had any issues. I only owned this car for about 6 months at the time and it was clearly out of warranty. I had the car towed only to find out that it is the transmission, bad battery, ABS issues and possibly an alternator. I was also advised that it was an electrical issues and possible a recall that is why no warnings lights came on to let me know it was a problem. I reached out to Ford who basically said sorry we don't care have a nice day. This car is not safe and should be taken off of the market until Ford can get this in order. I really hope someone look into this matter before someone lose their life.

Recall 14S17 vehicle has hesitated and stalled several times. It has stalled twice after being put in reverse. Eventually car started. There have also been several instances while driving where the vehicle seems to sputter and hesitate but will continue to drive. Yesterday it stalled after being stopped at a red light. Vehicle suddenly lost power after acceleration and would not restart. Vehicle is currently at mechanic's shop and mechanic is reporting an error code of "powertrain control module fail". this vehicle is not safe! this vehicle should be repaired under recall 14S17 as it is a documented issue with 2014 Ford Escape vehicles.

10/7/17 approx 6:30 pm while entering on ramp onto frway at approx 35 mph, driving dist of less than 1/2 to 3/4 mile from last parked stop, indicator dash memo of "engine temp high pull over safely", no indication on engine temperature gauge as it registered below mid mark. Pullled over on frway into closed lanes, turned off engine. Turned on again to advance 10 ft out of way of onramp vehicles, temp gauge indicated "H", turned off engine. Called for tow, tech could not start eng, battery dead. Towed home (less than 2-4 miles), engine off with ticking sound that could be heard across grill. Today, 10/8/17 this am checked coolant and empty. No indication of eng running "hot" or no fluid low indicator light/warning. There was never any warning lights, etc time driving from 9/27/17 thru 10/7/17.. 9/27/17 I had routine oil change, fluids checks w/receipt of dealer performing all work and checks prior to a trip of approx 346 mi ea way, traveled approx 20 additional mi from 10/3/17-10/7/17 and there was no indication overhting of engine and I had to expect coolant was full, not low as it was serviced approx 9 days prior. 9/27/17 I also specifically asked service rep and tech if fluids were checked both stated yes, okay, also indicated on service receipt.they perform a complete check of fluids, hoses, etc. To know if Ford Escapes, 2014 or others, have had complaints regarding overheating w/O warnings and/or if there is a possibility of this Ford engine having a record of these problems and complaints w/dealer who does all routine maint on my vehicle and any complaints R/T bell Ford, phx serdept regarding same issue" read fordescape.org there has been a recall for engines catch fire due to overhting/coolant, #17S09 is it valid" I will be arranging towing from my home to dealership my vehicle&performed last maint&oil change on 9 /27/17: Bell Ford, phxaz 85023

The vehicle was in motion being driven when heavy rain began. The wipers would not turn on in any level, manual or otherwise. This created an extreamly dangerous situation with little to no visibility. The dealer did not disclose the problems with the 2014 Ford Escape BCM but indicated was the cause. They however did not replace it, but did charge $450 for diagnosis only. No actual repair was made. This vehicle should be under recall. It is again affecting the wiper control intermittently.

  • 75,000 miles
My 2014 Ford Escape suddenly hesitates and stalls while driving it, causing a serious safety issue. My Escape has never had any work performed on it beyond new tires and oil changes so this is a manufacturing defect. I took my vehicle to the local Ford dealership for service and was informed it is a problem with the splices in the wiring harness for the map sensor. I was also told it is the exact same problem as Ford's current recall number 14S17 for 2013-2014 Ford Escapes; however my VIN is not covered by this recall due to its manufacturing date. Apparently additional vehicles need to be added to this recall or a new recall needs to be issued as this issue continued on my Ford Escape and Ford has refused to fix my problem since my vehicle is out of warranty due to the number of miles, even though this is clearly a safety issue caused by a manufacturing problem and not a wear and tear issue. I was charged $360.35 to repair my vehicle.

"takata recall" even though I no longer have the car, had them repossessed it. I made very clear when buying I wanted a car I would have no problems with. I hah just filled my tank with gas on my way to see my pain med doctor 80 miles away fuel system quit, at station, this is an in closed system not supposed to go out because my car was still in shop I missed another appointment with this dr. Which resulted in me being put into withdrawals from medication, had I driven there any system had gone out I would have lost control on highway 287 towards wichita falls tx which is extremely heavy traffic. Two times my life was placed in danger because of a recall I was not informed of. Now Ford what's me to pay for what they didn't get from auction I'm not paying for a car that nearly got me killed twice and I don't think they should put this against my credit. I'm considering suing as they cost me my doctor, through me into withdrawals which at the time was life threatening because of health, and possibly losing control on highway at 70 miles which could have cost me my life, now there is another recall about engine fires. Stationary failure with far reaching consequences.
