Took Escape to dealer on 08/26/20, all checked out. Someone had marked coolant resevoir on the paper work done at dealer, was written in and then it was crossed off. Fast foward 3 weeks and dash read "turn off engine too hot" took to dealer no other mechanic has touched car and they stated the resevoir had leaked and that the engine mount was corroded. They take no responsibility for not taking action on a broken resevoir that corroded engine mount. This happened on while driving 20 minuets on the freeway.

I took my car to a Ford dealship to for a recall. The recall was 17S09, a coolant level sensor installation. When I picked my vehicle up and drove it home, the next day my check engine light came on, so I brought it back. They then replaced a leaking coolant line to degas bottle. A few days later I turned on my vehicle to go somewhere and before even leaving my block, my check engine light came on again and instantly started over heating. I was luckily down the street from my home so I managed to get it back to my house, but I was afraid to drive it so I had it towed to the dealership for a third time. They didn't make any notes on that visit so I'm not sure what happened but when I picked it up they stated I needed to pay for services because they noticed a leak in my heater hose and the service was going to cost over $3000! my car was perfectly fine before taking it in for a recall. I wish I would have never brought it in because when I tried to make a complaint about how my car was serviced and what they did to it, I had no luck getting any help or assistance but I know the recall put my car in a worser condition. My vehicle had never over heated before and a few days after getting this recall it over heated as soon as I turned it on.

While coasting on the freeway at approximately 70mph my Ford Escape stopped accelerating. No warning lights illuminated, simply the accelerator stopped functioning. All fluid were okay and no overheating condition was present. I was able to pull over to the shoulder, shut off the engine and after a few minutes turned the engine back on. I pressed on the accelerator and the car jerked forward. The Ford seemed to go in and out of gear. I ended up towing the vehicle home. I had the transmission serviced (new transmission fluid). Few weeks later, same thing happened again (replaced throttle body) with not check engine light or fault code ever coming on. The second time this occurred, I was almost involved in a collision due to not being able to accelerate. Car drove again on and off. Took it to a transmission shop and was advised the transmission would need to be rebuilt. Transmission was rebuilt and the Ford seems to be driving much better, shifting is still not smooth.

My 2014 Ford Escape has overheated sometime in the fall of 2019, due to a leak in the coolant tank, unexpectedly shutting off while driving on a small town road at 40 mi/hr with children in the back seat. I paid Ford $600 to replace the tank. In September of 2020, the engine overheated again, suddenly shutting off while driving 55 mi/hr on a busy road. I had children in the car, when the error occurred again.the temperature gauge showed no sign of overheating in either occurrence. The only message I received from the dash was "power reduced to cool engine" about 3 seconds before the car came to a complete stop. Smoke appeared from under the hood in both instances. The second time around, I attempted to refill the coolant, which leaked out onto the ground. However, this time the leak didn't appear to come from the coolant tank, but rather the engine itself. I researched the issue and it turns out, many of the same year and model cars have been catching on fire and/or producing the same issue. There is a recall for it, but Ford told me that based on my VIN, my car didn't qualify for the recall. They asked me pay $3,000 replace a blown gasket that was caused by the system over heating. Obviously, these expensive parts continue to break due to a faulty engine. Yet, instead of fixing the root cause, Ford milks its customers for hundreds, even thousands of dollars worth of repairs, knowing the car will continue to shut off and cause financial, eventually physical harm to people. My question's are: -how much more money do I have to spend on a faulty engine that will continue to shut off and put my and my family's life in danger" -how can Ford refuse to fix a recall based on VIN numbers, if the issue is life-threatening and exactly the same as the recall issue"

In 2014, I bought a new Ford Escape from rhinebeck Ford in rhinebeck NY. It remained in pristine condition until its untimely 'death' on August 10, 2020. Prior to August 10, it was back at the dealership approximately 15 times to address safety recalls. On August 10 my wife, son and niece broke down in the middle of the road. We brought the car to rhinebeck Ford. After examining the car, we were told that the engine and cylinders have coolant in them, and the transmission is full of metal filings. Both of these issues combined mean that the car is diseased; however rhinebeck Ford is still in the process of creating a comprehensive list of the cause of death. Fortunately these dangerous defects did not result in injury to my family but they certainly do represent a serious safety risk. On August 10, the car had approximately 108,000 miles on it. I was sold a defective and unsafe vehicle and Ford Motor Company is not willing to make this right. I made numerous phone calls to Ford corporate offices and was told that since the warranty was expired and there are no active recalls pertaining to defective transmissions or engines that they would not stand by their product.

The contact owned a 2014 Ford Escape. The contact stated that antifreeze had been leaking out of his engine as his service engine light had illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact had taken his vehicle twice to an independent mechanic and was given various reports on the vehicle. The contact then took the vehicle to conway heaton Inc. (810 N 3rd St, bardstown, ky 40004) where he was unable to pay for a diagnosis and stated that he had linked his failure to NHTSA campaign number: 17V209000 (engine and engine cooling) which included VIN. The dealer informed him that the recall had already been performed prior to him owning the vehicle, the vehicle was then returned to the contact and the recall was not performed. While driving the vehicle at 60 mph, he noticed that the temperature gauge had been rising indicating that his vehicle was overheating. As the contact attempted to pull he vehicle over, the engine fault service engine now warning light had appeared on the instrument panel. As the contact exited his vehicle, he opened his hood and saw a flame arise in his engine. The contact immediately called the authorities and after 15 minutes of waiting for the fire department, the entire vehicle became engulfed in flames. Once the fire department arrived, the fire was extinguished. The vehicle was destroyed, no injuries were reported. The vehicle was towed to a local police station were in remained in their possession. The manufacturer had been notified of the failure and they explained to him that they would not be able to rebuild the vehicle, they offered no further assistance. The vehicle was destroyed. The failure mileage was approximately 108,000. VIN tool confirmed parts distribution disconnect.

My car is sporadically spewing anti-freeze from the overflow tank. I have taken it to 3 local mechanics and 1 Ford dealership and no one has been able to find a reason for this. I have noticed this occurs if I am driving around for a long time with the A/C off. The leaking is coming from my coolant overflow tank's air ventilation. Anti-freeze does not leak out whilst driving the vehicle, but only when I park and shut it off. The mechanics have done several pressure tests which all came back normal. December 2019 my coolant light came on for the first time since owning the car for 2 years and I was needing to put a small amount of anti-freeze in every month. Since July 2020 it has been overflowing and leaking every week it seems. I would average I go through 2-3 cups of anti-freeze every 1-2 weeks. When parking and turning off the car the overflow tank has anti-freeze filled to the top, but not quite coming out of the cap. I am attaching some images of my overflow tank.

I have a 2014 Ford Escape 1.6L ecoboost.that is not running&Ford will not fix nor admit that there are other vehicle like mine.before the cooling recall came about my vehicle over heated 2X.I called Ford&they told me there would be a charge to find& fix the problem.few months later I was notified of the recall.I took my vehicle into hall Ford in elizabeth city nc.first they said they did not know what needed to be fixed. Then the next day they said the problem had fixed after 24 hours of having the vehicle. A year later they recalled the vehicle again for the same thing&said they did not fix the right thing. Now after 100,000 miles the vehicle shifts out of gear. For said there is no recall (but without actually looking at the vehicle) they know it is the transmission. That it will cost $5,000 for a reman transmission or $7,000 for a new one. Remind you they have not looked over the vehicle and that does not include labor. The vehicle pops out of gear after not even driving it for 5 minutes. It is the 1.6ll 6 speed automatic transmission. I asked if there were other vehicles doing the same thing and they replied no I was the first they heard of. I said well how do you know it is the trans.they replied because we know our vehicles. I asked if it could be from the car overheating 2X before they fixed the cooling issue.they said no because they know there vehicles.I have got 3 different price quotes over the past 6 months. The first quote $2500 reman plus labor then 2500 for just tran to 4-5K for reman trans not including labor.they then asked if I would like to trade in my vehicle for something that was reliable. I answered no because my car was paid for. I said no one can drive it like this. They said thats why you should buy a new car.I started doing research and found that multiple people (hundreds of thousands)have had the same problem with there vehicle as me.

After the second time I asked if this was a common issue with these vehicles I was told it was and that they are constantly reordering these parts. Not even 2 months later I took it is because it had a check engine light and they claimed it was 2 bad sensors, I took it in to get repaired and then they told me my motor was shot.

I bought my car in November of 2018, almost immediately my low coolant light was coming on often, I took it to a mechanic and they found no leaks so I just continued to add coolant when it came on about every 2 months. I was driving from Colorado to Oklahoma on May 26th 2020 and my check engine light came on I immediately took it to a certified Ford mechanic and was told I needed a new turbo charger $2800. Driving from Oklahoma to Colorado on June 5th 2020.my car overheated, once again I took it to a Ford certified mechanic and was told it needed a new thermostat and 2 other sensors, $1300. On August 13th my car started making a loud grinding sound as I was driving on the highway I drove 2hrs to the closes Ford dealership and was told I need a new engine to the tune of $8000. This vehicle is worthless and I am so frustrated with this whole situation. Only 109000 miles

It has been a problem with 2014 Ford Escapes that the transmission fails and engine cylinder defects from the louisville assembly plant in louisville, Kentucky. My car was manufactured at this plant during the dates of the defects in 2013. The defects effected the 2014 Escapes. The recall is on cars from Feb 2013 through Sept 2013. My vechile was manufactured June 2103 which is in the "recall dates". I had to replace the transmission on a car with less than 100,000 miles at the cost of $3,800 because the Ford dealership said that "it's not under warranty or recall". the car now has a P304 code which is cylinder 4 defect that is a know defect of the cylinder head. I contacted Ford and they "may look at it" and if there are enough complaints they "may do a recall" on my VIN number. Ford "may reimburse me for the transmission that I put in" these are know defects from this manufacturing plant with other vins getting repairs. The car was driving rough prior to the transmission being replaced which was the head gear starting to go. I appreciate your time.
