As I was traveling on a city street at 30mph everything seemed fine. I stopped at a red light. While stopped I suddenly heard a knocking sound near the front of the vehicle. When the light turned green I started to go. The vehicle suddenly stalled. Prior, there had been no check engine or warning lights on. The vehicle was up to date on all required maintenance services. It would not restart. Vehicles behind me sounded their horns immediately. I put my 4way emergency flashers on. Called a tow truck. Tow arrived 30 minutes later. My vehicle and me were in a very dangerous situation for 30 minutes, as cars and trucks had to negotiate around us at a very busy city intersection. I was nearly struck by angry motorists who were burdened by my breakdown. I was told by two repair shops that there was a catastophic internal engine failure. The easiest and most cost effective plan would be to replace the engine. I had the engine replaced at a cost of $ 4164. There was 72649 miles on the failed engine.

Antifreeze coolant continue to be low, car center replaced a hose on 1/20/20 for $200, then a week later low coolant again the center assume air pockets was the reason with no coolant leaks 2/12/20. I kept replenishing coolant, June 3rd 2020 while driving on highway, the transmission failed, and it was replace 6/10/20 for $4000. Not even one week after picking the car up the low coolant with engine light with error codes P0012 camshaft position timing over-retarded bank 1 and P0303 cylinder 3 misfire detected. Who is going to take on fixing this car? I have been replacing parts and replenishing fluids with no resolution.

I purchased a 2014 Ford Escape SE 2L ecoboost. The car started to overheat while driving and is losing coolant. The vehicle was pressure tested and there are no leaks. I took the car to a Ford dealership in 2020 with less than 15,000 miles on the engine and was told that the engine needs to be replaced with a rebuilt engine for more than $9,000. An entire engine should not need to be replaced on a vehicle with less than 15,000 miles. This is clearly a faulty/defective engine.

While driving I noticed the car felt like it was losing power, almost like running out of gas, then a sensor went off saying 'engine fault service now', then I could really feel the car dragging. I pulled over and could hear the coolant bubbling, so I waited til it cooled down and say there wasn't much there, I noticed a leak under the coolant area. I took the car in to a local mechanic and was told I needed an engine flush, I got the flush but soon after the same issue was reoccurring. Randomly now it will just lose power and sensor will read the same thing, it's scary with your family I'm the car and your losing power. So here I am again being told I need an engine flush again within the same year. I have since replaced the reservoir being that it wasn't holding coolant. When I pour coolant in it seems like the engine is pulling it right out, I'm not sure where it's going because it's not leaking out but it's going somewhere. I called Ford and was told this was not a recall on my VIN, however I have read many complaints on this site with the same issue. I'm hoping to clear this up some I can get my vehicle in safe conditions for my family, and so no one gets hurt.

2014 Ford Escape with 85,000 miles began to issue coolant low warning despite having just recently being filled recently. It shortly after began to overheat and misfire on the freeway on ramp. I had it towed to an independent mechanic who registered about 500 ppm of exhaust going into the coolant. He diagnosed it as a broken head gasket and that I possible needed an entire engine replacement. He also noted there was no leak in our coolant.

The contact pulled over and restarted the vehicle after a few minutes and the warning light disappeared. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the engine temperature sensor provided an incorrect engine temperature reading. The mechanic referred the contact to fairway Ford (2761 E stone dr, kingsport, tn 37660, 423-578-3600). The contact was informed that the vehicle was previously repaired under NHTSA campaign number: 17V209000 (engine and engine cooling). The vehicle was repaired at the contact's expense. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 83,333. The consumer stated there was transmission failure as well.

In 2017 I took my car in to get several recall items fixed and I was told there was a coolant issue but it's okay to drive and just monitor the coolant. Earlier this year the engine light started turning on and I would get a "low coolant" message. Due to covid I did not take the car in immediately. I ended up having to fill the coolant three times in one month eventually leading to white fumes coming out the exhaust. When my car finally stalled in the middle of an intersection due to "low coolant" (which we had refilled 5 days prior) I finally took the car into Ford and they immediately knew what the issue was as I pulled up saying they could "smell it." Said I was not allowed to drive it home and it was most likely needing to result in a new engine. It was a coolant leak that could result in the engine overheating and breaking down, which was too dangerous for me to drive. The service guy said this was about the 20th vehicle he had to deal with this issue on but said they weren't going to cover it. Said there was a recall on this issue but only for 2014 Escapes manufactured at two locations. I asked why those two when this issue seems to be happening with several vehicles and he had no answers. Luckily I had a warranty that covered the new $8000 engine but we were responsible for the deductible and a majority of the rental car. It took 8 weeks for them to replace the engine so the rental was not cheap.

Due to faulty cracking coolant reserviors that I have replaced twice now, part of the motor has cracked and not only leaks oil, but leaks coolant into my engine, where the engine burns the coolant. Transmission is failing. I'm literally waiting for it to drop dead. When driving, the vehicle has multiple hard shifts into different gears. This occurs no matter what gear it goes too. The power acts like it wants to give up and rocks the car back and forth while accelerating and shifting gears. Sometimes the shift doesn't even occur. Move the prndl lever too fast from any setting, the car makes a loud jerking noise. Also when parking on any hill with the E-brake on, the car makes a very loud noise sounding like the brakes are going to giveaway and the car moves. Its barely noticeable, but I sat in the car to test it, and while sitting in the car you could totally tell it moved. It does this 3 times minimum when parked.

For the past 6 months (approximately) my car has been experiencing antifreeze leaks. My vehicle has roughly 71,850 miles and it is a 2014 Ford Escape. About once a month my info lights comes on signaling my engine coolant is low. I have taken it to a couple locations and no one can find a leak. In February the mechanic suggested I replace the cap in case it is evaporating. I replaced the cap end of April and once again in may the light can back on. I fill the coolant to the max line, but after a month it is at the min line or sometimes lower. I saw there are no recalls on my vehicle, but this seems to be a serious issue as my car can fail while I am driving around with my infant child in the car. No mechanic can seem to help me.

Purchased 3/28/20, mileage 78,277; 4/8/20 vehicle stalled pulling out of driveway after warning light indicated "coolant low, " "stop safely" - vehicle stopped itself and would not restart; 4/9/20 left vehicle at Ford dealer service dept.; 4/13/20 diagnosed with blown head gasket due to coolant leakage, engine replacement required; 4/23/20 informed that engine was on back order; 5/18/20 5 pm, (over 1 month later) repairs completed, picked up from dealership; drove approx 3 mi., stopped for 10 hrs; 5/19/20 3:30 am, drove approx 10 miles, stopped for 1/2 hr; drove off from 2nd stop, vehicle stalled within 3 miles after warning light indicated "coolant low, " "stop safely, " and temp gauge maxed out on hot, vehicle died and would not restart, leaving me stranded on the side of a rural highway at 4 in the morning. Opened hood just in time to see remaining coolant draining from reservoir. Although I have a new, unopened jug of coolant, location of the reservoir requires a funnel to add coolant !!! - (car does not come equipped with funnel and owner's manual fails to mention this!) caught a ride with sheriff's unit that just happened to be passing by. 5/19/20 vehicle being towed back to service dept.; current mileage 79,079.
