Escape

  • 130,000 miles
The contact owns a 2015 Ford Escape. The contact stated that while attempting to start the vehicle, the vehicle took a few seconds to start-up. The contact stated that the engine revved up to 1,200 RPM and then returned to 1,000 RPM. The vehicle was shifted into gear and moved a short distance before stalling. The gear was shifted into neutral to allow the transmission to stop rotating then the ignition was placed in the off position. The vehicle was restarted however, on several occasions the vehicle failed to respond and the procedure had to be repeated before the vehicle resumed normal operations. On several occasions the oil, battery and check engine warning lights were illuminated. After turning off and restarting the vehicle, the warning lights were no longer displayed. The vehicle was taken to boggus Ford mcallen (1400 E expressway 83, mcallen, tx 78501) to be diagnosed however, the mechanic was unable to retrieve a fault code. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 130,000.

The shifter of my 2015 Ford Escape was stuck in 's' position two days ago when I just started my car. The shifter handle was actually in P position. I had to call towing company and the dealer told me it is my shifter cable bushing deteriorated and unable to allow shift cable to come loose to change shift. Ford previously had a recall for 2013-2014 Escape model for the same bushing problems not including 2015 models. But a lot people posted threads online saying their 2015 model also have that problems. Some customer got it fixed free of charge and most customers did not. I contacted with Ford customer service and they told me it is up to the dealer whether to allow reimbursement but this should be definitely be recalled because this can be a big safety concern.

Within last week, twice while driving vehicle on a city highway, the engine suddenly shut off. Lights, radio, dashboard, etc. All continued to work. Notification came on dashboard stating "warning, vehicle is not in park." Fortunately, in both instances I was able to coast onto the shoulder into a parking lot and avoid causing a wreck or being wrecked into. This is a major safety issue! with car safely in a parking lot, I moved my transmission into park. I turned my key to the "off" position. I removed my key. I reinserted the key and tried to start the vehicle. Lights, radio, dash, etc. All came on. However, vehicle would not start. There was not a "click" as if the engine was trying to turn over. There was only a notification of "system start fault." I tried our spare key, and received same notification. Vehicle would not allow me to move transmission from park into neutral to be towed. Steering wheel was locked up. Abandoned vehicle. After about 2 hours, returned to vehicle, and vehicle started. To clarify, everything listed here has happened 2 times and on 2 separate occasions so far. Tests at both autozone and O'reily auto parts confirm - as I suspected, since lights, radio, etc. Would turn on - that the battery and the transmission are working just fine. This is huge safety issue that the vehicle would suddenly shut off!

To whom may concern: I have taken my vehicle in for the recall 16V643000_recall 16S30. Door latches may break in result preventing the doors from securely closed when, in fact, it is not. At speed on freeway, speedometer went to zero and ABS light on. In recent days had wheel bearing replaced. (wheel bearing includes wheel bolts, hub, bearing, ABS sensor as single part" bad ABS part or connection ") normal until on freeway then: Digital speedometer displayed 0. analog speedometer needle fell slowly to zero and stayed. 'I' ('information indicator') appeared on center panel. Forgot how display of 'I' message. (left joystick pad on steering wheel, left arrow, down until 'I', press for list?) '(ABS)' lit on analog speedometer 'traction control wiggly line car' lit on analog speedometer vehicle continued without change in speed, engine running fine. Arrive at destination. Notice power assist to steering is reduced by 25% so harder to turn notice power assist to brakes is reduced by 25% so harder to stop parking spot was on incline, instrument panel message about 'hill assist start not available'. pushed ignition to stop engine but was ignored. Couldnt shut engine off. (seperate issue listed in recall from 2015 for software update to body control module" NHTSA campaign number: 15V436000 ? NHTSA VIN lookup shows no outstanding recalls. ABS issue or seperate" ) returned home. Found out that ignition button sticking like was floating (?) but if push 3 times as hard engine shut off (few days previously and after button felt and worked fine). Vehicle went back to dealer today for this second new bearing in the last few weeks. Periodically on way to drop off vehicle the speedometer needle and digital display number bounced intermittantly to zero and back to speed. ABS light, "I", and traction control lights on. (when dropped it off at dealer the dealer themself experienced the 'start/stop button wont shut off the vehicle' while checking in the vehicle for the bearing replacement.)

Mysterious draw on battery causing the battery to die after sitting. Battery/alternator test fine. Never know when it's going to happen? I have to keep portable jump starter in the car. Radio and cd system stopped playing for four days, then came back on. This has happened two times before but came back on the same day. Ford dealer person told me to disconnect battery cable for 10 minutes and when I connect it back the system would reset itself. I did not want to try that, not mechanically inclined. The wipers on the low setting runs steady but stops making it hard to see because of the rain unless I press wiper arm. The headlights dim and come back up randomly, I notice it mostly sitting at red light.

The vehicle was sitting parked under a carport for almost 24 hrs. When it inexplicably caught fire. The ensuing fire burned the carport and spread to the structure causing extensive property damage to the exterior and interior of the residence. A passerby made the elderly occupants of home aware of the fire and they were able to get out. The area of fire origin was identified as being on the passenger side of the engine compartment. There appears to be some other evidence and/or instances of fires in these vehicles occurring the same way.

I was driving my 2015 Ford Escape going about 50mph when my steering wheel just froze. It took all of my strength to try to turn the wheel so I could get myself off the main road and out of everyone's way. I got myself to the side and couldn't turn the wheel at all. Luckily my family wasn't too far so my dad was gonna help me get my car home but he couldn't even turn the wheel. We had to call for a tow truck. Also my 2015 Ford Escape would stall after pumping gas, taking several attempts to start my car and at times not starting at all after filling my tank. It has stalled on me serversl times while driving on the main road leaving me stranded and holding up traffic on busy roads. Low tire pressure/ tire pressure sensor fault warning light appears often even though all tires are at correct pressures ABS and traction control appears noisy cabin makes buzzing noises behind stereo even when car is off stereo malfunctions happen often where cds get stuck and stereo says 'no cd' while trying to eject it.
