While driving down the a highway at 110km/h (which is the limit), I noticed flames and smoke coming out from under the passenger seat. By the time I pulled over off the highway, it was flaming pretty badly. I tired to put it out as best as I could using a trash can I had in the back, but when stamping the fire out with the can and moving to another spot, liquidish flaming plastics were stuck to the can and the can caught on fire (it was make of a semi hard plastic, but that was the only thing on hand I could use.
By the time the fire dept. arrive (took 30ish min) the fire had completely engulfed the Escape. There were several explosions as well as it burned (throwing chunks of burning materials in a 30-40' radius).
