Escape ES V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 96,924 miles

In 2020 we received a bulletin in mail and my engine has done everything that letter stated it would. I have receipt showing we got it looked at in 2021. My engine misfired on the interstate and in getting spark plugs replaced cylinder 3 was not working. The mechanic could see coolant leaking out from engine. We took to a dealer to get diagnostics done and they claim it needs a whole new engine. It has been there since last week.

They called yesterday stating the piston was also damaged by coolant leaking. I had someone look up my vin and this seems to fall under a engine defect for 2017 model. Now the price increased another 1,000. I am so frustrated because we took it in for the recall and now we are having a whole new engine replacement. our house flooded back in 2016 and we bought 2 of the same vehicle. Brand new because 80 % of the parish was under water and we didn't want to chance getting a flooded one. We paid for the extended warranty but I understand that ran out at 6 years. I feel like I'm between a rock and a hard place spending more than it is worth.

Escape Titanium 2.0L

Engine Light came on and immediately with a few days took the vehicle into the dealership and asked for a tech to do a diagnostic on it. It came back with "requires engine replacement", it showed the following codes - P0301 and P0316.

If you are located in Canada and this has happened to you please contact the Transport Canada to issue a formal Complaint - it is easy and quick - enough people do it and they will need to issue a RECALL, which should have happened a few years ago - I can't believe Ford has known about this Failure and done nothing about it for almost 9 years.

Ford gave me NO Assistance what so ever! They left us hanging out to dry - they offered reduce the cost of the New Engine from approximately $13,500 Canadian Dollars or buy the car back at a discount. We had a quote done several months earlier where the value was estimated at $14,500 now they will give us $7000 to get us GONE. Ford Canada was not help their Customer Assistance Line was a JOKE. Remember folks its Ford.

So, if you found this website or others in Canada please pass this information on quickly. Time is ticking and your Ford EcoBoost Engine may be next?

Transport Canada Call 800 333 0510 - Safety Defect, EcoBoost Engine Failure - ask to lodge a formal complaint and they will assist you quickly.

Get your Complaint Registered with the Government quickly - more people - the quicker they may actually do something.

If you are considering purchasing a vehicle - buy anything but a FORD - I remember now what FORD stood for back in High School (70's) - Found On Roadside DEAD.

Escape SE 2.0L

This Ford Escape 2017 2.0 Eco Boost was always driven nicely. At 90,000 km got an engine light so I took it to the official service. The diagnostic was fatal, leak of coolant into cylinder #3. Absolutely disappointed with Ford quality and annoyed with its lack of support. This car is just out of warranty and I am getting all the lost in value because of mediocrecy in design.
