FORD=FIX OR REPAIR DAILY. Drove the car 63,000-miles and barely got off the freeway. At around 65mph, the trans began downshifting, going into neutral, and upshifting. Had to keep the RPM Around 2500 at traffic lights or it would slip into neutral. Waited a day or so then drove the car locally and it operated normally when cold but haven’t taken it on the freeway yet. One does not want to break down on the freeway in CA. Waiting for an estimate now. Ballpark for a trans is $5000-$7000. All I did is drive this pig… Years ago I almost bought an AAMCO trans business and learned then that front wheel drives are money makers for repair shops. I’ve owned Toyota, Nissan, Honda front wheel drives and 200K miles out of each with no problems. I was leery buying a Ford but, it was required by my business. A lesson learned. The cost to do repairs are almost more than the car value. Can’t even use it as a trade in. Nobody will touch it.

The car had been driven about a mile when I started to go up a hill. In about 500 feet, the transmission apparently disconnected from the engine as the rpm jumped up and the car stopped going. I moved the shift lever to the S mode but the transmission would not respond to the movement of the lever to go to the different gears such as no S1, S2, etc(the indicator on the dash stayed a S) The car acted as if it was in neutral but the vehicle would not roll backward down the hill as if it had a hill holder feature. The engine would respond to the accelerator but the vehicle would not go forward. I had to leave the car and walk home.
The next day, I went to the car and started it. I put the car is S mode and move the lever for gear selection and it responded and I put it in the S1 position. I then released the parking brake and the vehicle responded and went up the hill. I put the car in the garage until I can decide what to do. I have since then driven the vehicle around the neighborhood and it seems to drive normally.
I suspect that there is some problem with the electronics in the vehicle.
I do not want to drive the car if it might stop again.

My son is a truck driver. Using his car from home, Fort Meade, Florida to Daytona Beach to tick up his 18-wheeler. This is done round trip once a week. Driving on I-4 the car started to slow down. Like went to neutral. he accelerated and the car was not going. he shifted to neutral put the car in drive and it took, started moving for couple of miles then again, the same thing, He had to move out of the highway, park the car and the car was towed to the house. We learned about the recall 22s43 (the bushing that attaches the shifter cable to the transmission may degraded or detached) Car has not been used since then. 10/14/2023.
Today we towed the car to the closest Ford dealer, and they replace the part mention in the recall. My son left the dealer driving the car. all good. After maybe 3 or 4 miles down the road after leaving the ford dealer, on US highway 27 south, the car went back to have the same problem. I called the dealer, and they are sending a mobile unit with a mechanic to look into the problem. They advised me that there will be no charge if is related to the recall if is something else I will have to pay for the dispatch. ugh! Will update and keep you posted about the outcome..

Never had problems with cars, this is going to hurt our budget and expectation of how we look at fords. Low miles with this problem, we were expecting to last at least 140,000. Now what?
