On June 01, 2018 my coworker and I met at the Boise Retirement Center. We both are Certified Nurse Assistant for Home Health and Hospice. As we finished doing cares, we walked to our vehicles (hers was a Nissan and mine was a 2017 Ford Escape). I entered the Ford to start the engine and to turn on the AC. I exited the vehicle to walk over to my coworker which was 2 car spaces to the left. We started to talk about an issue we were having in regards with another coworker. 20 seconds later my coworker stated "your car is rolling back". As I looked I saw the Ford rolling across the parking lot. Without hesitation I ran after the Ford to try and stop it. it was heading towards a building in which I did not know who was inside. I got my left hand on the steering wheel, turned it and the drivers door knocked me down.
The vehicle proceeded to run me over starting from my right foot up towards my head. As I placed my right arm across my face and held my breath I could hear the cracks so clearly. After my head was ran over I placed my hand on the bumper to get myself up and was able to get inside the vehicle to apply the e brake. As I was hollering for my coworker I started to feel the pain that I never have endured before. My coworker had noticed that the back of my head was bleeding. She applied pressure and did not tell me what she saw. She kept me alert as I kept closing my eyes. I remember hearing the sirens and the voices of people. I remember being taken into a bright area with several people with machines touching me. I suffered 5 fractures to my right ribs, 2 fractures on my face, and contusion of lung. There was a laceration on the back of my skull and hematomas to my leg, arms and neck.
A couple moths ago I received a recall letter for the company vehicle now which is a 2019 Ford Escape for a damaged or missing bushing that could prevent the shifter from moving the transmission into the intended gear and cause the vehicle to move in an unexpected direction. The vehicle may not be in park position and without application of the parking brake may allow the vehicle to roll.
I have days where I wake up migraines and neck pain that travels up the back of my skull across my right temple. I have days to where I can't even move or stand and I have to crawl to the bathroom.
