The transmission does not operate properly. It frequently searches between gears when shifting and then shifts hard into the next gear. It makes loud clunking noises when decelerating. Numerous times when shifting from park to reverse the vehicle lurches. I brought the vehicle to the Ford dealer in March of 2023. The dealer stated they could not duplicate any issue that was not normal. Over time this has gotten worse. I have a second appointment with the dealer scheduled.

Incident happens every 1k miles or more. Car is in motion driving. Press down on throttle and transmission drops to 1st gear. A bunch clicking and thumping sounds are heard. Car doesnt accelerate(can be at 70mph), starts to slow quickly until gears change. Also 4H is jerky as well as sport mode. Very unsafe to be traveling on the highway trying to overtake a vehicle and then your car fails.

Vehicle had transmission rebuilt per dealership to fix transmission jerking and skipping/getting stuck in gears both on HWY and regular roads. Since rebuilt happened less than 90 days ago, my Ford EXP. is still doing the same thing. This past week alone it has happened to me 3 times. Instance on reg road going from about 10-15mph to accelerate and pressed on the gas and vehicle would not move and jerked until it shifted and was able to speed up twice this happened between gears 2-4 this happened. Next time this happened family was on hwy heading out of town while on hwy shifting lanes vehicle jerked and transmission noises happened louder than other times and vehicle got stuck on gears 6-8 when finally able to move normally. We were told when the dealership rebuilt the transmission since warranty would not cover a new one, that this should fix the problem or maybe think of trading my truck in for a newer one.(really not the answer I was looking for). Ford needs to take responsibility for these Expeditions coming out faulty. I had already send to shop right after transmission rebuilt and they could not do anything because they could not reproduce the issue again so here I am 60 days later and again with the same issue

The 10 speed transmission lost all power and would not accelerate at freeway speeds. The engine was running and was working fine but had no power. Several severe jerks and then power was restored by the transmission. Losing power at freeway speeds almost cause accidents each of the 4 times it happened. Other vehicles had to take evasive action to avoid hitting me. The vehicle is current at a Ford Dealership for diagnostic and repair. I had a Shift System Fault error show on dash as well as See Manual warning as well

As I was merging into traffic, I began accelerating to get to the same speed as the flow of traffic. My transmission shifted, seemed to search for a gear, and was unable to engage. The transmission slammed in and out of gear and I was unable to gain any speed beyond the 45 MPH I was going and was almost rear ended getting into the I-5 as I could not get up to speed with normal traffic. I had to pull on to the side of the road for the safety of my family due to this continued issue. The -??wrench-??/check manual light came on. After sitting for a couple minutes I began driving again, it was very jerky shifting through the gears and very delayed between shifts. The vehicle consistently seems confused on what gear it is trying to shift into, then will lose all power and responsiveness for up to 30 seconds before finally placing itself in a gear and resuming normal operations. This happens almost every time we drive the vehicle now, searching for gears, delayed shifting, sometimes it will even catch when the engine is at a higher RPM and lunge forward. This has become a huge safety concern for my family, to the point where the Expedition is parked and only driven by me alone, if it HAS to be. I will not have my wife and family driving in this car until Ford does some sort of recall on this 10R80 transmission. The CDF Drum has a faulty drum sleeve that slides out of place and covers some of the holes the transmission fluid flows through causing a plethora of issues. If it wasn-??t a known issue, Ford would not have created a TSB for the KNOWN issue.

My car loses power over 55 mph. It lost all power on the interstate almost causing a catastrophic accident. When shifting gears it has a very harsh shift. The transmission and shifts are very loud. The transmission has been repaired previously. Now at 4 years old, the transmission has failed and Ford is refusing to cover the cost of repairs.

Our car keeps losing power. Ford has replaced the differential, the transmission twice, and had the car between 4-6 months in the last 18 months. It is now in for its 8th repair. The car loses power while driving. It has done it so many times we have lost count. One of the alerts we get it "electronic limited slip differential reduce torque". Sometimes we can continue driving, sometimes we have to pull over and turn off and on the car. IT started fall/winter of 2022. The car is at ford again.

Already submitted 2 prior complaints regrading Transmission/Engine NHTSA ID 11583360. Vehicle transmission failure. Vehicle is at Ford Dealership for repairs. Safety risk involved risk of accident. Problem has been reproduced and confirmed by Ford service advisor. Vehicle is currently at dealership waiting on repairs to be made. It has been inspected by extended warranty advisors and approved for repair. Vehicle does give any warning when engine/transmission failure occurs. This has been documented since I bought the vehicle in Sept. 2022 with the dealership. This is the 3rd or 4th time it has gone into be checked finally when it happened and dealership was able to reproduce they stated that transmission needs to be rebuilt or new one needs to be installed. Since warranty did not want to cover new transmission they are going to rebuilt it. Before this instance they said it was because transmission failure due to having some sensor reset which did not work.

I had my 2020 Expedition looked at for transmission issues. Vehicle at times gets stuck and gears do not shift which causes vehicle to lose power both on the HWY and regular streets. I took into dealership on 3/20/24 they said they would have to get transmission module reset as this is a known issue with the expeditions. Well here I am 3 weeks later and vehicle is doing the same thing when I was driving down the street and attempted to switch lanes vehicle would not go into gear and sounded like something was breaking off of it. It has done this 3 times within the last 10 days. Vehicle at dealership now and tech is saying they can not reproduce issue so they can not fix. I told them I have done research on this issue and states that it could be selenoids. This is not something normal that should be happening to a 2020 expedition. Transmission issues were we can get injured from vehicle malfunctioning. I was stuck in the middle of an intersection when vehicle transmission malfunctioned on this occasion. other instance family was on the HWY their is no warning to when this is going to happen and speed is not a factor since it has happened on HWY and street driving.

Vehicle is slipping back into natural when driving. Vehicle losses power and won't move almost causing me to get hit from incoming traffic. It's a known problem with ford and should be responsible for the 7k cost for new transmission.. please investigate this. It's too early for a transmission a fault on a 2020.
