Explorer ST

  • Automatic transmission
  • 84,000 miles

Vehicle started to hard down shift from 3rd to 2nd gear. We took it in and they said the vehicle was safe to drive but needed an entire new transmission. 2 days later we were almost stranded 30mins from home without reverse and it began to slip going slow speeds because I was to scared to take the highway.

Explorer ST

  • CVT transmission
  • 111,000 miles

Absolutely ridiculous to have to replace a transmission in a car that is less than 5 years old with barely over 100K miles.

Explorer Limited 2.3L 4 cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 20,500 miles

Downshifting would yank passengers forward with force.

Explorer Limited 2.3L-Liter Ecoboost ® I-4

  • Automatic transmission
  • 21,543 miles

The transmission was always a rough shifter, but that was announced even before it was available for sale. It gradually improved. But suddenly, the tranny banged, slammed, and shook when downshifting. The dealer picked it up and told me today (2/23) that a complete rebuild is needed.

Explorer ST V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 12,388 miles

Purchased a 2020 Ford Explorer used from a dealership 6/24/2021. Two and a half months later on 09/14/2021 I was advised the transmission is "pouched / gone" and will likely need to be replaced. There should be a recall on this car.
