I have a 2002 and a 2005 Ford Sport Trac. Both have the same problem, when I shift into 4x4 the vehicles feel as though the 4 wheel drive is skipping or did not catch, it makes a rear end shake/jump consistently while driving, making it even more dangerous on slick roads. When I take it to the Ford dealership, they state I need new tires, that 1 tire is a millimeter smaller than the others. Both of these vehicles have had the same problem since they were brand new and all the tires were new. While sitting in the waiting area, I heard the service technician tell 3 other people the same story. I took my vehicles to two other tire centers, who both told me, there is nothing wrong with my tires, that they are all the same size. I feel that FORD is trying to get out of doing warranty work by blaming the customer. If their product will not withstand normal wear and tear, I will replace both my Ford products with other companys vehicles that will withstand normal wear and tear. A vehicle is only as good as its service department, and the one I go to stops looking as soon as they can say the tire is a millimeter off from the other tires. Kendall Ford in Wasilla Alaska is the service station closest to me. I bought 8 ford vehicles from their predecessor, but with this service I will not by again. I still have the problem and when I took it to another mechanic shop they said this is a problem with the Sport Trac and the DriveTrain should be replaced. But Ford is only concerned with the tires.
