This problem may be covered under warranty. Ask your Ford dealer.
The rear end is slipping and I've had to replace all the bearings and clutches. I have not had anymore problems with my 2006, BUT nearly everyone I ask about this has had the same problem with their ford pickup.

rear differential grinding noise
Bought a 2004 Ford F150 SuperCab 4X4 V8 5.4 Triton 05/20/14. Bought it from a friend who is an Architect and Avocado grower. He Replaced it with the 2015 Ford F150 V8 Four Door. He told me it had some noises in the Rear Differential. Truck runs strong 4x4 works great but the constant Grinding noise in the rear of the truck sounds like tires rubbing in the fenders. Anyhow i am prepared to pay for a REAR DIFFERENTIAL if necessary. I am hoping its just a bad bearing or something. I only hear the noise when i am taking off 0-15 Miles and it comes intermittently. My friend never abused the truck and kept up on all his services, never really left the ranch. A little disappointed in FORD, Obviously its a problem if these kind of forums are being made for these types of common ISSUES! Maybe they will learn something from these websites if they were to use them.
Thanks.
