  • Automatic transmission
  • 111,000 miles

This just past its first tune up and the reverse goes out and they tell me I can't drive or it will mess up the transmission even more. I went online to research it and hundreds of people having the same problem. A 26.00 will cost me 1500 to 2000 to fix because it will be considered a rebuild. Then I read that it is happening to many ford f150. I can't afford 1500 this is bullshit I guess this is how ford makes its money on all these repairs. I will never buy another ford ever. High priced money pits is all they are.

Unreal! In mid 2013, I finally took a chance buying an American vehicle after owning over 20 foreign jobs. Honestly, I have never had a problem with any of them except what you will see listed for the hunk of junk 2010 Honda Odyssey I bought new in 2010, can't wait to unload it!

The F-150...the transmission shudders, growls and I lost total power, once while in traffic. I will finally bring it into Ford for my 60,000mi service. I dred bringing it for the same reason I delayed bringing it in. Ford will give me the blank stare, stonewall any attempts I make, act pleasant but stand firm. In the end, we are ALL stuck with this lousy x-mission!!!

F-150 Lariat 5.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 150,000 miles

OK, Where do i start? I purchased this truck approximately 2 years ago. Since then i have had nothing but problems with it.

Power window switches stopped working. I did some research and found that the contacts in each switch corrode quickly and need to be cleaned. I took them all apart and cleaned them, this solved the problem.

I have had to put 2 new driver side window regulators in it so far, new transmission mount, new water pump, new alternator, sway bar links twice, intake manifold gasket (that was fun! NOT) vacuum reservoir, fuel computer sending thing under back of truck, I'm sure I forgot to mention at least a couple dozen more fixes and the payment each month!

Here's the BEST one, THE TRANSMISSION JUST SH*T OUT ITS REVERSE CAPABILITY, I went to back up and there was no reverse. the truck felt like it wanted to go but just wouldn't move.

I have read many complaints and heard a lot of frustrated people say the same thing. I even read a thread that said Ford produced 60-8- thousand faulty transmissions and used them anyway! THIS SEEMS LIKE THERE'S SOME TRUTH TO IT AFTER READING SO MANY THREADS WITH THE SAME COMPLAINT!

TIME TO SWITCH TO CHEVY I THINK!

F-150 FX4 5.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 105,000 miles

I use my truck normally, hardly ever pull anything. I do not drive it everyday, garage kept and taken care of. It is 10 years old, yes, but only has 105,000k miles on it. One morning I got in to leave, put it in reverse and pop... I heard it and knew exactly what it was. No reverse, truck was throwing a code output shaft sensor.

I immediately knew exactly what was wrong, broke reverse bands in Tranny. Reverse still worked but skipped horribly. I got to looking into it on a Ford F150 forum and seems like it is a very very common problem and it shouldn't be. Now it is going to cost me 2k to have the transmission rebuilt. That's a kick in the balls.

F-150

  • Automatic transmission
  • 114,000 miles

When purchased rear cam shifter had to be custom rebuilt all under warranty. Truck has ALWAYS run like it was a diesel.

The tranny issues, were strange. They would come and go. Nobody could diagnose them. I would get oil changed, use Lucas and generally the shaking at low rpm and stopping completely would eventually just go away.

In wet weather it would act up again. I would have to stop the car. Put in park and restart. Once it dried out. No problems. I read in another post this may have to do with some part putting it in 4x4 mode.

Today, just days after a high mileage oil change, it really took a crap. And actually just two days after the other known issue of the window drop. Lovely there too Ford.

I have no way to fix this, single mother. My only transportation, and this is on Ford for the faulty tranny purchases in the first place. I want a recall immediately. My family has a safety concern and this is not tolerable.

I think Ford should be responsible for this problem. I have never towed or pulled anything with my truck. It really is a pain in the butt, especially when you can not afford to get it fixed right now. If I could call the owner of the Ford Motor Company, I would let him have it. It is disgrace...

F-150 XLT 4.6L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 82,000 miles

Our 2004 F150 has been in the shop more than any vehicle we have owned. Right after purchasing this brand new truck we had to take it in twice for tire problems, next the rear end had to be replaced, and we had to take it back seven times for brake problems (horrible vibration in the brake pedal). Two years later the drive shaft cracks in half and is replaced with the wrong drive shaft so it starts to crack as well. A year later the engine just shuts off (computer problem) and has to be replaced. The transmission has slipped occasionally but now it is failing. The dealership promised a 100,000 mile warranty but refuses to honor it now. We will not buy another Ford.

F-150 FX4 5.4L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 56,000 miles

When slowing without braking transmission downshifts with a loud clunk noise accompanied by an abrubt shift. Happens about 50% of the time. I have never towed anything with this truck. Tranny noise does not inspire confindence but transmission has not yet failed.

F-150 STX 4.6L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 39,000 miles

While slowing down without braking, or just cruising on back roads and staying within a range of speed of 25-30mph the transmission likes to down shift and with that it there is a very loud clunk. And a very rough shift. Also I feel some transmission slippage while going up a step grade (my driveway) at low speeds in drive or 1. This pisses me I really want a dodge with a cummins diesel.
