June 27, 2009 driving down the road and front Drivers window fell and made a loud pop, thought window had shattered - went online to find out how to remove door panel - found the info and also information from other ford owners that once one goes they all go - husband replaced the regulator then lo and behold one week later Drivers back window did the same - ordered another regulator - regulator came in on a wed. husband replaced on Sat and (yes) the very next day the passengers rear regulator went out - did not have to wait on part to be ordered - dealership had one in stock. Will change this out this weekend and wait on the front passengers window regulator to go - The Regulators are not cheap. Thankfully I did not have to pay labor.

I had just gotten off work and it was really warm out. I was running my air conditioner to cool me off as I drove towards home when "POW". I stopped looking around to see what the heck was that and I noticed that my rear driver side window had fallen down into the door. I tried and tried and nothing happened so I guess there goes another window to be repaired, this makes three (3) "THE THIRD ONE". Ford is going to love to see me again to get another window fixed but I tell you they will not be able to sell me another truck.

This is the second window regulator that's gone out on this truck. The driver's window popped and sank painfully into the door Thanksgiving leaving us to drive the full length of California in winter without a window. This one is the rear passenger side window. Same pop then sinking. My husband managed to pull over and catch the window before it sank all the way down and for now we have it wedged up with a piece of rubber hose. We have a 1995 Silverado with 230,000 miles on it and it's windows seem to operate just fine!!! Cost $450 dollars to fix the first window. Haven't gotten a quote on this one, but clearly this is a defective part and should be recalled!!! What does Ford think they're doing???

Well another Ford F-150 mad customer with the window crap!!!!!????!!!!! Have replaced both window motors last year and now the drivers side after making the cruching noise 3 or 4 times fell in!!!???!!! Have taken off door panel and am trying to figure how to connect the white line with white plastic end and metal cable connector to what?? Guess that is what broke off and needs to be repaired. Paid alot of money for this truck and will be looking elsewhere soon for a new one. New transmission at 50,000 miles, new A/C at 60,000 miles, two new window motors, and now this!! Oh and the brake job on a 2004 has to replace everything .......yes everything very expensive.

What a shame - within 90 days, my driver door window regulator and my rear passenger door window regular quit working. Here I am almost 2 years later and still am driving around with my windows in the "UP" position. I guess I am lucky to have a friend who is a good mechanic. FORD should absolutely no questions asked issue a recall for this item. Read the complaints and realize that FORD made a mistake. It would go a long way to create good will, would not be relatively expensive compared to the ill feelings the company is creating because of this issue. Time will tell - I for one will be watching!!

I'm with the rest of you. What a piece o crap design. I was going to town when I hit the down button and the window went down and stayed there. Pulled it up with needle nose pliers and wedged some paper in it to keep it from falling again. Went to local parts store and their book showed repair part but it was wrong. Can't find it online anywhere. Dealer wants $150, have to buy entire assembly, they don't sell just the cables and pulley. I'm calling Ford on Monday to voice my complaint and looking for sight to join class action suit. Love my truck but don'tlike the fact that now the warranty is over stuff starts falling apart. Also had ring and pinion gear fail in rear end, extended warranty covered it but cost me $100. Just made last payment a couple months ago and was looking forward to driving cost free for a few years. Only has 54,000 mi. on it.

While driving really late at night, really tired, I here a loud "POP"... window falls into my door and I (scared sh**less), swerve off the road. Thank God I was on a back country road. Window never rolled back up so my first thought, "oh its prolly the track, the window prolly just came off or somethin small... no biggie". WRONG! Tear the door down to find a birdnest of cables and one of them had broken off of one of the tracks. My next thought, "WTF am I looking at?" This has to be the worst design for a power window ever produced. To top it all off, when i called ford they told me they see these all the time and it would cost me around 500-600 to fix! This should be recalled and should be viewed as a serious safety issue. Ford just is not what it used to be, i hate to say it but my next purchase will be a chevy. Ford may have the looks, but underneath these things are held together by glue and plastic.

Wife called up while I was at work, and said that the driver side window had fallen down while she was in a restaurant. I have had the truck covered in the driveway w/ a tarp for the last few days. Kind of reminds me of riding through a trailer park and seeing the half covered Monte Carlos. Anyway, I took the door apart today and see that the cable is wrapped all around the regulator. I came inside to look up this problem, and came across this website. I see that this is a very common problem w/ these trucks. I'm not going to bitch too much b/c the truck has been great otherwise. I just wish Ford would look @ these common problems and offer some kind of fix. I'm going on a 700 mile trip in a week and now I'm really nervous that the other three are going to do the same thing w/ two kids in the back seat. Come on Ford, step up to the plate and give us a reason to keep buying your vehicles.

This was the drivers side window. The window simply fell down inside the door, the motor was still attempting to lift it but the mount bracket and all simply twisted with cable. As with others the windows aren't used very much. I just wonder what the ford engineers were thinking. A new model should have a better designed window and not something that doesn't work as well as the old style. Hopefully the new part was redesigned and will hold up better. In many of the older trucks at least you could go and buy a $80.00 motor and fix it yourself, even buying this unit online was 200 just for the part. Can't wait for the other windows to fall too.

hello every one i guess add me to the list off (pist off) well i was driving down the high way on my way to work, when out of no where i here a loud thump and the wind in my face my driver side window had fell down. i didn't know what had happened so i call the local ford, they explained that i was the window regulator and that i wasn't the first, they said that it was gonna cost $290 for the regulator plus $130 for labor. well i didn't buy it.

long story short, a week later my passenger window also went out two months after that the back right side went out now im stuck with three mest up window regulator no money to rapair and the ford company does not give a sh** all this happened at about 50,000 miles

Ok people, I'm not the first to report this problem and surely won't be the last; I was on my lunch break when I pushed the button to roll down my driver's side window then POW it happened. Yep, the damn window fell inside the door. I proceeded to roll up the window, but only heard a grinding noise inside the door. Sound familiar?? So with a little help of the ol' 'net I figured out how to disassemble the door panel so I could ''attempt'' to fix the problem myself. Upon looking inside the door at the regulator/motor, all I saw was a bird's nest of cable. By this time I was working on a pretty good mad, so I decided I was NOT gonna pay the 400 or so dollars it costs to fix it. I'm going to hold out 'til Ford realizes they've mass produced a buncha sh*tty parts and has a recall on them! Until then, I manually lifted my window, then clamped some vise grips on the slide to hold it up. So much for fast food or drive-thrus at the bank for a while.... :- ( I've also heard that a 2x4 cut to size works well also. I've included some links and strongly urge you to check them out.

after googling my problem i found this site and realized.....This isnt my problem, This is FORD's problem, why havnt they recalled this. it really gets under my skin that you pay all this money for a vehicle and some crap like this happens. I'm talking about the chinsey little plastic peices use in the windows. i have rigged it by pulling it up, lodging paper wedges in between the rubber and the window, ensuring that the window "track was rolled up, then engadging the windows lock. I love everything else about the truck, but this is annoying and by reading all the other complaints, this is definately a Ford problem, this issue is worth a recall.
