Leaving for vacation and suddenly the right passenger window started rolling down. Luckily I was just a few miles before my Ford Dealership exit, and it was on a weekday and they were opened. Warranty had expired and I just thought it was an unlucky event and sucked it up and paid to have it repaired. Had no idea that this was going to be a problem. This was the FIRST of ALL 4 WINDOW regulators to fail.

On Aug 13th, my front passenger window fell, one week later the back passenger window fell both got fixed when i had my TRANSMISSION (at 42,500 miles) replaced last week. Yesterday, the driver side window fell, three days after getting my truck back from the dealer. At approximatly $250-300 per window regulator/labor, this is way out of hand.

I have been a loyal Ford owner for 19 years, and had intended to hold onto this truck for another few years until I upgrade to F-250- but Chevrolet is looking much better these days (i never thought those words would come out of my mouth). Since i am a horse woman, and horse women talk about their trucks - I CAN and WILL do some serious damage to FORD, simply by word-of-mouth.

FORD needs to step up and fix the issue by issuing a recall (and refunding money to those that have had to pay for this out of pocket). The transmission is a whole other issue... more to come. This is ridiculus.

I have had to replace (3) out of the (4) regulators on my 2004 Ford F-150. 2 of them was within a 2 week period. The service rep cracked my window with a set of vice grips during the second regulator and then lied to his manager saying I told him to do it. My window is still chipped.

The dealership charged me $350.00 per window, wow with a family of 4 I really don't have $350.00 just sitting around to fix a window issue that should be corrected by Ford.

I hope enough F-150 owners can get together and put presure on Ford to refund our money. I will not even look at another Ford for my next purchase.

Now my 5.4L sounds like a diesel truck ..... wow this was a great purchase.

all my vehicles are ford.My son used the truck in question to attend college, I received a call from him one night explaining how the drivers window snapped and fell,"yea right" I explained to him and his mother how some boy or girl had most likely hung on the window and broke it, I have never heard of such a crazy story, right, Well guess what the phone conversation was the next night, that's right the passenger side window did the same thing.Now i will be out approximately $600 dollars. I have already replaced both cam gears myself due to factory defect on all 2004 f150 overhead cams, sorry f150 owners if u didn't already know. Wait to u have to change spark plugs, they will ring off and in most cases the heads will have to be removed just get plugs out, This problem became so bad they invented a retrieval tool that works if ur lucky. So as u can see I'm thinking strongly at switching to another auto company. The consumer always gets the shaft. If only 1 car company would put the money where their mouth is the rest of the car companies would have to shut the doors.Take care of ur customers and the bottom line will take care of its self. Like them or not Sam Walton knew this concept well. I rest my case. thanks for listening

This time the passenger door window regulator went out. This failure really pissed me off. I was traveling to Albuquerque, NM from Amarillo, TX going to the funeral of one my very best friends. About 20 miles east of Santa Rosa, NM, the passenger door regulator cable broke and the window hit the bottom of the door. I was amazed the window was still in one piece. when I left Amarillo I had figured my arrival time to where I would arrive at my destination with about 1 hour to spare. Now I had to stop in Santa Rosa and try to find some tools and hopefully find a Ford Dealership that might be open. This was Saturday and no on the dealership after driving around for 30 minutes I purchased some vice grips and some other tools to at least get my window held up in order to hold up the window with the vice grips. By the time this was accomplished I finally pulled up to cemetery where the cervices were held for my friend just as every one was leaving the the funeral. That was one of the most humiliating situations I had every encountered. Having to apologize and explain to family and friends why I couldn't be on time for my best friend's funeral. So Yes, I was and still pissed about the faulty door parts the Ford uses. I haven't had the money or the time to have the regulator and cable repaired this time.

This is the 4th time my regulator cable system has failed on my 2004 F-150 Supercrew! The 1st time was rear passenger window and local Ford dealer fixed under warranty. The next one was the front passenger side. I drove to local dealership to set up repair appointment and as I was pulling out of service area, the front driver side window fell!! UNBELIEVABLE!! The dealer fixed both front windows on that visit---this time on my extended warranty (with a $200 per window fee!). Now today after school my daughter comes in the house and says, "Dad, you left your truck window down." Well, I hadn't lowered any of my windows that I recalled, so went and tried to raise the rear drivers side window. WHAT DO YOU KNOW, the POS just clicked!! I wasn't in the truck to hear it drop so was unaware that it had just fallen into the door (#4 of 4 windows!!).

Since my extended warranty has expired, figured I would do repair myself this time. Didn't realize this was such an issue till I looked up repair on Google and found this site! Since the other three occurred over the last 7 years, I just missed the pattern and kind-of assumed it was just crap that happens...Now I learn from this site that it is a MAJOR issue that Ford will not concern themselves with.

This is my 3rd Ford F-150 and probably my LAST!! I will drive this thing into the dirt and just see what is out there when it comes time for a new one! Thanks to post # 193 at "window fell down into door" on this website and his link to repair info at:

I have also had my power rear sliding window replaced twice!! (both times under warranty)

My wife, 2 of my daughters, and my son have all had FOREIGN cars and have NEVER had these cheap-ass inconveniences!! Any wonder why the US auto industry is struggling???????????

I have had my truck since it was brand new and I have had to replace all 4 window regulators. The part is around $180 bucks and the labor to have it fixed is another $80 bucks. What gives this is ridiculous. I was told by a auto glass guy that these parts go out in these trucks all the time. He also said that Ford window regulators are the worst. Hmm you would think ford would get the hint. I am sick and tired of replacing them but unfortunately I have a feeling this won't be the last one I have replaced. I guess ford doesn't care though. I won't buy one again!

WELL it happened AGAIN. I had ANOTHER window regulator break and ford is still turning a blind eye acting like there is nothing wrong with these. Well When my infant child gets hurt by either broken glass or sunburned (Living in Arizona it only takes 10 minutes to get burned) because of one of these faulty parts ford will have a HUGE lawsuit on their hands AND I will not stop until this issue is resolved. Every one who has had this happen, we need to get together and sign a petition to get this recalled. Its is a potential safety hazard.

Had my fourth window regulator fail in the past 2 years. So as of now, all four window regulators needed to be replaced at a cost of nearly two thousand dollars. Contacted Ford and their local dealership to complain and they offered no relief. After the third regulator broke this past spring, the parts manager joked "be happy, you only have one more to go". One window, I can understand. Two, OK, there may be a problem. But all four? I love my truck, but will never buy a Ford product again. Lousy customer service.

Ford and Chevy and Toyota all have an issue with the plastic parts that work in conjunction with the power windows. My driver window was rolling up and when it reached the top I could hear something break and the window just fell down into the door. I took the truck to the dealer and of course all it takes is lots of money to fix it. I called 'ford- customer no support for you ' and of course they won't admit it's a vast problem. I currently have 3 fords. I've had fords most of my life. I had customer no service put on my complaint that I will not be buying any more Fords. I've also had issues with the rear sliding glass and the motor freezing up. I've fixed that myself by lubricating the cable and hitting the motor with a hammer to un-freeze it. NICE EH!

I purchased my '04 new body F-150 Supercrew in December 2006. Within the first month my front passenger window regulator went out. Two weeks later my left year window regulator went out, both were fixed under extended warranty. I then was stationed in Minnesota upon my return from Iraq in 2008 and my driver window regulator went out. When I dropped it off at the local Ford dealership to get fixed they said both driver and front passenger regulators were out and I had to pay out of pocket at a price tag of $870. So far we are at driver window, left rear window, and front passenger window x2. A year later my right rear passenger window regulator went out and I had to pay for that out of pocket at $330. So now we have five window regulators and roughly $1200. Now in 2011 I am camping and its raining for two days straight and my SIXTH!!! window regulator goes out!?!?!?! WTF. This time its my left rear passenger AGAIN!!!

I am so fed up with this problem. I can understand a vehicle that has close to 100,000 miles losing one or maybe two window motors, but six? two that have been replaced already? At this point it is Ford's responsibility to stand behind their product and behind their name. I have owned four Ford vehicles, My Father has owned seven Fords, my mother three, my brother two, my sister two, and my grandfather nothing but 12 Fords. He even worked for Ford for 40 years, and I have to eat the cost of a sixth window motor? And Detroit wonders why people buy foreign cars. UNSATISFACTORY FORD!

I'm in the middle of attempting to fix myself due to what I have read on the net of $400.00 to $800.00 repair bills from other owners. This is the window of a Lariet Super Crew Cab which has had very limited usage. I was just riding down the interstate when I heard a crunching/crashing sound and looked back to see that my window had fallen all the way down into the door due to the failed regulator. This appears to be a common FORD problem which should have been solved through a recall long ago. I personally believe this is a purposely engineered in defect to provide an additional source of revenue to Ford Dealers, many of which do business in a manner that would make a Mafia Don blush. The dealer is the last place I will go to have repairs done whenever possible. The back power window is of no use as well due it work every once in awhile. So, of course< I do not use it at all because I'm afraid it will stick open. This Lariet is my LAST FORD PRODUCT ! Sad to say, but HONDA HERE I COME

Is Ford now controlled by Government Motors? I just had my window pop and then fall down into the door. I called and reported it to Ford and got the same garbage about how it's not under warranty, bla, bla, bla. But thanks so much for calling us they said! Guess I will have fun on my day off trying to fix this. Hope I can find my Haynes manual. Thanks Ford, for taking away my family time!!
