Brakes failed at low speed avoiding incident. Lost vacuum to braking system resulting in stiff manual style braking. Looked online for recall and saw what appeared to be the exact same thing for my year and vehicle description. Called dealership and was told that my vehicle is not part of this recall. Well, it should be. It was the exact issue and part as is described in recall NHTSA campaign id number : 08V208000 NHTSA action number: PE08001 component: Service brakes, hydraulic:power assist:vacuum:hoses, lines/piping, and fittings.

The contact owns a 2006 Ford F-150. The contact stated that the vacuum hose was leaking and did not apply power to the braking system. The failure caused extreme resistance in the brake pedal when depressed. The contact had to utilize the emergency brake to stop the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a local mechanic where the contact was advised that the vacuum hose needed to be replaced. The dealer was notified of the failure who stated that there was a recall for the failure under NHTSA campaign id number: 08V208000 (service brakes, hydraulic: Power assist: Vacuum: Hoses, lines/piping, and fittings) but the contact's VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was notified of the failure who offered no assistance. The failure mileage was 82,000.

I own a 2006 Ford F150 truck with 44,000 miles on it. Over the past month or so it has developed a severe braking issue which when under moderate to heavy braking causes the vehicle to shudder severely and make it difficult to stop. It occurs evertime you apply the brakes. I have spoken to other F150 owners who have had the same issue on the same vehicle and the 2007 model also. The brake pads are in good condition, however the break rotors have a very unusual scratch patterns running from the center of the brake rotor surface to the outside of the surface. I have never seen this on a vehicle before. I do know that one fellow had to replace all 4 of his brake rotors on a 2007 model to correct the problem, not normal if you ask me. I have seen this same complaint on other consumer web sites for the same issue. My vehicle is still in this same condition, I am trying to get information on what is causing the failure before I spend $$$$ to fix it. Thanks for your concern!

My son was killed in his 2006 Ford 150 pickup truck driving 45 miles an hour. His truck apparently left the road with no signs of brakes being applied, flipped several times. The airbags never deployed. His insurance company was threatening me to release the truck from storage which I did. I have since regained my senses enough to search the web and see that there were many recalls on the brake lines of this make truck.

We have a corroded ABS brake wire on our 2006 Ford F150 truck. The ABS light came on and stayed on. We took it to our dealer and was told it was not covered under our extended warranty due to corrosion. I called Ford esp and was told the same thing (does not state this in coverages). When I asked about any covered part not being covered if it has any corrosion on it, I was told it does not cover corrosion. I live in northern Ohio and this is impossible if the vehicle is more the a few years old. We believe that this is a brake safety issue and this wire should not have corroded this soon.

Unintended acceleration has occurred four times within a year on my 2006 Ford F150. Happens at low speed when I touch the brake pedal. Pumping or jamming on the brake seems to stop it. This is definitely not a case of my foot hitting both pedals at once. It hasn't caused an accident yet but easily could do so in the wrong situation. I'm filing the most recent incident.

Please see ODI#10278394. Complaint continued. Truck taken to garage to be fixed in January 09 because of vibration in steering from brakes. Oct, guarantee run out, and brakes still not fixed. Vibration continued. Ordered new performance rotors and pads. Upon installation of these items I inspected calipers and found cracks and chips in cylinder plungers which connect to push the pads. I would say this came from constant vibration of the front brakes which Ford did not fix for eight months. The center plunger of these caliper pistons are made of a fiber board which will not stand up to vibration, fiber board is a very hard and brittle material which is good for heat and wear but not vibration. Calibers have to be replaced. Of course at my expense. Truck is undriveable and this condition can cause a very serious accident and death if breakdown of this fiber board type material should fail without notice. You would completely lose your control and brakes.

Truck began shuddering when braking @ low/high speeds. Was told rotors warped @ approximately 6,000mi. Dealership had the rotors machined and then adjusted calipers. After driving truck off noticed brake pedal was slightly softer but no longer felt vibration/shuddering. At approximately 9,000mi once gain felt slight shudder/vibration when braking. Took truck to dealership with approximately 13,000mi and was told rotors were once again warped. I had ceramic brakes installed @ approximately 24,000mi and new rotors installed @ approximately 30800mi. With the rotors installed significant vibration still occurs when braking at any speed. Safety concerns for some time now. Apparently shuddering not due to warped rotors as dealership suggested.

The contact owns a 2006 Ford F150. On November 19, 2008, the vehicle was repaired according to Ford recall number 08S05B (brake booster vacuum hose replacement). While driving 35 mph, the vehicle failed to stop when the brake pedal was depressed. The contact struck the side of another vehicle and the air bags failed to deploy. The road pavement was dry. The contact and the other passenger in his vehicle were transported to the emergency room for back injuries and bruises. Both occupants were wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash. The front end of the vehicle was damaged; however, both vehicles were able to be driven from the scene. A police report was filed. The failure mileage was 39,537.

Pulsating brakes at 12K miles - dealer chose to turn the rotors per Ford. Pulsating brakes again at 20K - identified by dealer to turn rotors again - "they are within Ford specs requiring turning vs. Replacing". contacted Ford - (of course, those that answer the phone are not technical - so they could not explain the specs or provide them) explained that this is a recurring problem - should replace. Ford had identified that these rotors are within spec - will not replace will only turn. Limited warranty provides for repair if available - not replace. 2 turns in 20K on a vehicle that is 3 years old. Not acceptable. $38K vehicle and $400 warranty repair for new rotors is too much for Ford to swallow. Nice warranty - question is, will the rotors outlast the warranty??

The contact owns a 2006 Ford F-150. The contact stated that her vehicle would not start on several occasions. The vehicle was taken to the dealer at least three times for the failure. After the most recent failure, the dealer changed the starter and the failure appeared to be remedied. In addition, when the brake pedal was depressed, the brakes extended to the floor. The vehicle was towed to the dealer and they discovered that the seal failed in the master cylinder. The dealer replaced the seals in order to repair the failure. Shortly afterwards, the brakes began to emit a red, greasy substance on the wheel. The contact took the vehicle back to the dealer, but they did not want to repair the vehicle. The dealer stated that all the brakes operated in that manner, but the contact disagreed by stating that the rear brakes did not. The dealer finally took the vehicle in; however, they only washed off the grease. The contact retrieved the vehicle and the brakes extended to the floor again. The vehicle was returned to the dealer and they stated that nothing was wrong with the vehicle. The manufacturer took the contact's information, but offered no assistance. Most recently, she heard a noise from the brakes when driving in reverse and braking. The noise was described as a cracking sound. The current mileage was 14,380 and failure mileage was approximately 12,000.
