Went to have truck tuned up--mechanic would not even touch spark plugs because they break off and the entire head has to be removed for repair. Told us tune up would be very expensive and if they broke it would be even high. From what I was told if spark plug is bad it can result in failure of catalytic convert and result in a car fire. Will it take a death before Ford does a recall how do consumers maintain a vehicle when and authorized mechanic will not do the work.

Noticed leakage under front left tire. All transmission fluid had leaked out. Transmission oil line rusted through. Had previous leakage which I repaired with a piece of high pressure line. Checked metal lines of transmission oil cooling system and found numerous areas rusted out and ready to burst. Had truck towed to dealer to replace cooling system lines. Was told corrosion is a common problem with the lines on F150. Can't understand why if this is a common problem Ford does not notify owners about possible preventive action to deal with the corrosion or use non-corrosion materials for pressure lines.

I was driving down the highway and as I was making a right hand turn my motor turned off. I had no steering and little brakes to get me off the road. I took the truck to my mechanic and he told me the fuel module was cracked. This is common on F150's and I feel Ford should have a recall on this before someone gets hurt. Thanks

Was experiencing a shutter similar to the feeling of a misfire when accelerating up a grade from level road conditions. This shutter was between 1250 and 1500 RPM. Took the vehicle to Ford dealership who eliminated coil pack and torque converter as the source of the problem. I had taken another vehicle I own to a repair shop I have used foe several years for an oil change and when I picked up my vehicle I mentioned the problem I was having with my 2007 Ford F150 and they advised that my problem was probably misfire on one or more plugs. They advised me that they had dealt with this same problem over the past few years. They proceeded to inform me that there was a major problem with replacing the plugs-they could break when removing. If that happens and it did (4 plugs broke) then additional labor costs would be added to my bill. End result a bill for $600 to replace 8 spark plugs. Absolutely absurd. As a part of this experience I have learned that Ford mfg this engine from 2005-2007 and when this issue began to surface that they changed the engine design to eliminate this problem. Ford was obviously aware that a future problem was going to be faced by the consumer. Why should we the consumer have to bear the full expense to pay for their flawed design in this engine. They should be willing to admit their mistake but apparently it is going to take some legal pressure to get this done. If they do not step up I will never by another Ford.

The contact owns a 2007 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving 55 mph with the cruise control activated, the cruise control system suddenly stopped functioning with the illumination of the wrench warning icon. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnosis where it appeared that the power steering bearing failed and the serpentine belt became detached from the vehicle. As a result, the serpentine belt erroneously came into contact with the engine temperature sending unit and fractured the wires from the sensor, struck the clutch fan and was destroyed. The failure caused all of the plugs and wires to be exposed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis where the sensor unit, power steering pump, clutch fan and all associated parts were replaced. The manufacturer was notified and lodged a complaint. The failure and current mileage was 57,319.... updated 12/26/12

2007 F 150 king ranch spark plugs break when removing them (Ford cheap spark plug system). The truck also pull/tugs like if your transmission is missing however, I've been to the dealer multiple times for ignition coil issues. They said I need to change spark plugs. These spark plugs Ford said was to last 100,000 miles.

While driving truck it shut off suddenly without and warning, driver fuel pump control module. This unit is located in an area that is highly corrosive and has no protection against the elements. When this part failed I was driving in a parking lot at a low speed however I was told it can happen any time at all. Once this part goes the vehicle is totally inop. I had to have the truck towed in to the dealer and the part replaced at a cost of $356 labor $125 parts. I was also told I was lucky it took this long and had better plan on doing it again in the near future as it is a common issue with all Ford trucks. Ford redesigned the part but the service manager told me it will happen again as it is only nickel coated and offers no protection from the elements.

While driving in a parking lot the vehicle shut off completely without warning causing lose to all power systems. The vehicle would not start, dealer stated that the fuel pump driver control module is the cause of this. They further stated it is a common issue and should have a recall or some thing for the northern states. Also replaced was the fuel rail pressure sensor(P0191 code). Still no resolve to issue.

The truck began to make a crackling sound the check engine light came on, low oil pressure light came on. The truck moved very slow. The truck cut off the truck was towed to the dords company the next day. Was told in the service department I needed (3) sprockets to adjust the timing belt. On Monday I was told I needed a new motor that one was all chimed up. I asked why I explained I changed my oil at the appropriate times the truck is at 80,000 miles.

Engine makes a knocking noise. I was told by a Ford dealer that they can't repair it because Ford doesn't know what is wrong with the engine. I was told by Ford dealer to drive it till it quits. The engine could lock up at any time, possibly on the highway which could cause an accident to occur. I called Ford customer service and was told there was nothing they can do.

Changed the sparkplugs on our 2007 Ford F-150, and sparkplug broke off in the head, had to buy a special tool to remove it. This is a major problem with these trucks and are causing serious damage to other vehicles. How can Ford and motorcraft get away with a poor design while consumers have to suffer and foot the bill for their mistakes. This needs to be a recall.

Vehicle taken to dealer for tune up which was quoted at a minimum to be $500 for parts and labor due to known engineering flaw with the spark plugs. Spark plugs break when attempting to remove and one plug remained in the cylinder head. This lead to replacing the head with a final total of $3,500. This has been a known problem with model years 2004-2008 and Ford has not issued a recall or disclosed this known defect. Previously instructed by dealer to not have plugs changed until engine started having problems.

The manufacturer was contacted and advised that the failure had occurred because the contact performed the oil changes to the vehicle and used a fram oil filter, which utilized cardboard in the filter and caused damage to the engine. The manufacturer denied assistance because the contact had not had the oil changed by an authorized dealer. The VIN was unavailable. The failure and current mileage was 77,000.

The contact owns a 2007 Ford F150. The contact was driving 35 mph and decelerating in an attempt to make a left turn when the vehicle stalled and the brakes became unresponsive. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who performed a diagnostic that located the failure at the cam-shaft position sensor, the crank sensor, the timing solenoids and the valve gasket. The parts were replaced but the repair did not correct failure and the vehicle continued to stall sporadically. In addition, the contact stated that the engine was extremely loud as if it were a diesel engine. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer for further diagnosis. The VIN was not available. The failure and current mileage was 78,000.

Driving along, heard a bang, smelled very strong smell of fuel, truck started backfiring and vibrating so much it was hard to control, forward motion slowed rapidly, vibration, attempted to pull the truck over across 4 lane of traffic, opened windows as the smell of fuel was choking everyone in the cab. Stopped truck, engine running very rough and had strange noise, unable to locate. Eventually found right rear most spark plug blew out of head (leaving metal threaded part and base in head), contacted dealer "big Ford, vancouver, wa" and "courtesy Ford, portland, Oregon" both claim the "flex fuel engines have a common problem with the spark plugs separating, sticking in the head, and/or exploding out of the head" the also stated the Ford was aware of the problem but no recall was taking place as there were not enough complaints as of yet (the truck engine is damaged, still smells like fuel inside the cab, plugs, coil, and injector have been changed, dealer would not honer "bumper to bumper warranty" this issue will eventually cause a great number of deaths and or injuries and the fuel issue could likely cause an explosion (even in my vehicle after the repairs)(dealers wanted between $2,000 and $6,000 to extract the spark plug bases and stated repeatedly it was a common issue and it was "not covered under warrently"

My truck was giving hesitation going up hills and I called to make an appointment with Ford (mind you there was no engine light on) but before I could get it looked at the sparkplug blew out of it and although I have a warranty Ford is telling me it is not covered because I drove it that way like I was suppose to know the plug was loose as he says. The garage has the option of how they word it to determine if it is covered and they would not listen to me when I told them there was no warning. All they said is I drove it that way for so long that it was my problem.
