My 2013 Ford F-150 suddenly downshifted when at highway speeds. The check engine warning came on and the speedometer suddenly stopped working. I could feel the transmission jumping gears. I was able to get the truck to a local auto parts store, where they ran a diagnostic P0720. I was able to put the truck in Manual and was able to drive the truck to the nearest Ford dealer. They told me they are not accepting any vehicles with transmission problems until 2022 due to parts and labor shortages. I was able to get the car to a local repair shop, but they were unable to repair it. That shop referred me to Ford Customer Satisfaction Program 16N02, which calls out the exact problem my truck is having.

The Molded Lead frame fails and the current recall of " reprogramming " the problem only solves it for a short, in my case, 3-hour window. The molded lead frame is faulty and causes the vehicle to immediately jump from 1st to 5th and back to 5th gear when driving and lock up tires. This is dangerous enough but even more dangerous in bad weather. It is beyond well documented that reprogramming doesn't actually fix this issue for any length of acceptable time. Drivers are being put back at risk, then having to spend thousands to replace the molded lead frame, which is what should be done, to begin with, not reprogram. Please, I am begging you before more lives are lost and innocent owners spend hundreds of thousands collectively trying to save their lives. Make Ford responsible for this and have the recall replace, NOT REPROGRAM....REPLACE! the Molded Lead frame in these 2011-2013 6r80 Transmissions.

During standard driving in column traffic the transmission went from 6th gear to 1st gear while traveling at 65mph. Later the speedometer went dead and did not respond to speed changes both the transmission and speedometer reset after restart. Speed and control were lost during the gear shift. The week prior to this event occurring an upgrade to the computer software for unplanned transmission downshift, that was meant to prevent this from happening. The transmission has lost the speedometer and power on several occasions since the initial event. Which I have recorded and pictures. The component has been inspected by a manufacturer, and determine that the Lead Frame was the most probable cause. This event had never occurred prior to the software recall was performed. The service technician indicated that this was a known issue and that Ford had extended a warranty on the lead frame indicating it was a known problem. There was no indication of a problem until the even occur and it did not originally cause an OBDII code. Subsquent events did trip a P0720 Code being the output speed sensor fault.

While driving, the vehicles (2013 Ford F150) transmission will shift to 5th gear and may remain there or downshift to 1st gear when the MPH reads zero (0). A wrench icon and airbag light is displayed on the dash/instrument panel. The MPH will display zero (0) which can result in a random downshift to first gear even while driving at highway speeds of 65MPH. Fuel economy and other mileage related numbers are displayed as dashes (-----). The vehicle also seems to enter a low power or "limp mode". This issue has occurred 3 times in the last 4 weeks (August 2021). The issue may go away if the vehicle is turned off and on. I have experienced this issue 3 times with my family in the vehicle. When this happened there was no safe place to pull over and restart the vehicle. My dealership states there are two recalls to address this issue. 19S07 (PCM Firmware update) and 19N01 (Leadframe replacement). My vehicle has ~160,000 miles on it. Ford is refusing to approve 19N01 as the extended warranty ends at 150,000 miles. This recall should be listed as a safety recall with no expiration as there is a safety concern of the transmission misbehaving.

In November 2019 my truck had a recall from Ford (Recall #19S07) applied. https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2019/RCMN-19V075-2645.pdf and also this recall https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2019/MC-10162411-0001.pdf On August 5th, 16th, 20th, 25th, 27th I have experienced the following condition: Hard unexpected down shift, in one incident while traveling in 6th gear at highway speed the transmission down shifted to 1 gear, locking up the rear wheels. (this also caused me to swerve off of the road) In addition the electronic dash board went dark and displaced a wrench. The error was corrected by cycling the power off and back on. I did contact Ford about this issue and they said the extend warranty from 19N01 was only to 150,000 miles and at the time of the call to Ford the milage on the truck was 151K.

I was driving on the freeway going 65mph when the transmission started switching gears it went from 6 gear to 1st gear in a matter of 1 second, luckily no one was behind me or else I would-??ve got hit. I took it to ford to get recall unexpected Transmission downshift fixed, but it didn-??t fix anything it actually got worse. Now the speed gauges stop working out of no where and it gets stuck in whatever gear I am driving in when this happens 2 codes turn on P0720 output shaft speed sensor and P0721output shaft speed range/performance. My truck had no issues before this recall. My life is in danger when I-??m driving this truck I have called the dealership but I get the same answer every time that there-??s nothing else they can do.

Every day the transmission jumps to 1st gear and stays there. We have to pull over and put it in park or neutral then try to drive again. Most of the times it stays in 1st gear for 5 or 6 times of pulling over before it will return to normal. This happens regardless of speed at time it happens. It displays the 'wrench' on the screen, air bag light comes on and speedometer stops working. We are deathly afraid of even getting on a highway. We have read the same problem on the internet happening to hundreds of people, yet there is no recall notice yet. Why are there no recalls if we are all having the EXACT same thing. Some people reported their lead frame harness was replaced and fixed the problem and some reprogrammed the control module.
