Transmission suddenly downshifts, causing brake squealing and rapid speed reduction, extremely dangerous as has occurred on highway. Also sometimes will put in drive and says is in 5th gear but won't move, or other times will not shift out of first gear. Very dangerous issue! has occurred numerous times over past month but doesn't generate a code or warning lights.

While driving 45 or 50 miles per hour the transmission downshifted from 6th gear to 1st causing the wheels to lock up and putting me into a skid. The rear of the truck fishtailed to the right hitting a curb. If a car was parked there or a pedestrian was walking, things could have been much worse!

Transmission shifts erratically. Sometimes it does not shift down from 5th gear and bogs down from a standing start (onviously) and I have to stop and put in park to shift again and sometimes that does not work. On a couple of occasions it shifted down to first on it's own and it felt like someone rear ended the vehicle the jolt was so hard. Service dept says they cannot do anything because it is not recalled and they cannot duplicate it (dangerously happens at random!). I do not want to drive my family in this dangerous truck!

Several times my transmission shifted from 6th gear to first gear while I was driving in traffic approximately 35-45 mph. This caused my rear tires to lock up and was almost ran over by vehicles behind me. Once it happened while pulling my utv trailer on the freeway at 65 mph. I was in the right lane because of this happening before, and as soon as it happened I shifted into neutral and turned my emergency flashers on and pulled off to the side.

5 plus instances of noticeable gear shift shuddering during both up and downshifting at random times while at cruising speeds above 25+ mph. A few other instances the speedometer was observed moving rapidly and erratically while on a highway speeds along with a transmission shudder. More recently the transmission performed a significant hard down shift I never experienced before and was not expecting. All issues were observed beginning January 2018. Truck brought to dealer 4/10/2018, courtesy Ford breaux bridge, la.

When I turn engine off and back on, it operates normal for a few miles. Was almost T-boned by semi this morning because the transmission would not engage when I pulled into intersection.

While driving, the truck downshift to 1st gear randomly. The service light came on and the truck stayed in 1st gear. All of the gauges died and I was forced to pull over.. I restarted the truck and it ran normal. The next day I was driving on the cruise control when the truck downshifted to 5th and all the gauges died. Later that day, it went into 3rd gear and would not shift. I am now having to pay 900$ to fix something tbat is already recalled for 2012 but not my 2013. Same transmissions and same issue.

The contact owns a 2013 Ford F-150. The contact stated that the vehicle independently downshifted gears while driving various speeds. The failure occurred without warning. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed, but no failure was detected. Sanderson Ford (6400 N 51st ave, glendale, AZ 85301) was contacted and the contact was informed that the speed sensor was defective and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified and referred the contact to NHTSA. The failure mileage was 73,170.

Without warning my rear wheels & drivetrain locked up while driving. My vehicle suddenly lost control and I had to drive into the grassy shoulder at around 35 mph to avoid being in traffic. As the problem was occuring, the speedometer went to 0 mph and the airbag light illuminated. The vehicle mileage in the cluster showed all dashes. The transmission felt like it was disconnected from the engine, and transmission was stuck in 5th gear at low vehicle speeds. I cycled the ignition, and truck drove normally after that. This is an intermittent problem and very dangerous to drive with as vehicle will lose power and transmission can shift to 1st gear at high vehicle speeds. My vehicle has the 6R80 faulty transmission with the same type of 6R80 molded lead frame defect problem reported in previous F150 model years. Upon contacting dealership they seemed like they never heard of the issue before. Ford should issue a recall for all vehicles with P0722 output shaft speed sensor diagnostic trouble codes. A simple electrical issue on a $100 part should not cause this type of dangerous reaction. See Ford tsb 13-4-9 and 13-2-3 and recall #16V248000 that should apply to all 2013 F-150's too.

The rear wheels locked, the speedometer went to zero, and the driver's air bag warning indicator illuminated. When the contact pulled the vehicle over to the side of the road, shut off, and restarted it, the vehicle operated normally. The contact stated that the failure occurred two other times. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 34,000.

I was driving down the interstate and my truck just downshifted into 1st out of no where causing my back tires to lock up and me to lose control of my vehicle. I brought it to the dealership and they said it was an internal part failure dealing with an output sensor on the lead frame. It looks like there is a recall for this exact problem on 2011-12S but mine is a 2013 bought in 2012, and is still under 50,000, car is still at the dealership being repaired I do not have the paperwork yet.

On 3/12/18 at approximately 7:20am, without warning my rear wheels & drivetrain locked up while on an icy/frost covered bridge at I96 and newburg rd in livonia. My vehicle suddenly lost control as I my steering wheel and front wheels were about to make a left turn manunever. My vehicle spun out of control at around 10 mph and my vehicle hit the bridge curbing. Luckily I didn't hit another vehicle at that intersection as it came to a stop. I did notice that me vehicle lost it speedometer which trigger the bad event. My vehicle has the 6R80 faulty transmission with the same type of 6R80 lead frame defect problem reported in previous F150 model years.
