2014 F-150 has issues with shifting while driving and losing voltage to the transmission lead frame. Safety issue for driving and changing to incorrect gears. When stationary in park, the truck will not start due to loss of voltage and parking sensor issues. Odometer display shows wrench icon shows while driving. Error codes P0706 and P0707 codes show up while driving. Ford dealership has done diagnostics and has determined the problem is the Transmission Molded Lead Frame Electrical Failure. They have reported that this is a common issue.

Driving on the freeway, speedometer starts randomly sensing different speeds like the output speed sensor is not reading correctly. Transmission then downshifts to the speed that the OSS is reading and downshifts to 1st gear while im driving on the freeway going 65mph. It was so abrupt that it locked the differential and chirped the tires, again all while going freeway speeds in traffic! Could have gotten rear ended or caused an accident. I will be taking to Ford to see what they say but i shouldnt have to pay a dime for manufacturing defect and safety issue.

I was driving in the highway at 65mph when suddenly the transmission shifted to 1st gear, almost causing a serious accident. There are several reports of the same problem in the internet., Ford did a recall for the 2011-2013 models but not for the 2014 which have the same components.

I was driving down the highway at about 75 miles an hour and the vehicle slipped gears likely down to 1st. The rear wheels locked and the vehicle jolted almost as if I had run into something. After that it carried on normally. There were no indicator lights or errors that popped up. It came completely without warning. I took the vehicle in to a local mechanic. They serviced the transmission but did not find any reason for the vehicle to have dropped gears like that. About three days after getting the vehicle back I was again driving down the highway at about 75 miles an hour, the wrench light came on, my speedometer dropped to zero, my odometer cleared, and my gas/mpg cleared all while the vehicle continued down the highway. The airbag light also illuminated and stayed on but the wrench light turned back off again. I pulled over and restarted the vehicle and everything cleared and the vehicle continued as normal. It drove normally for the rest of my drive as well as my drive home. The next morning it did the same thing. As others have mentioned this is a clear safety issue as instruments are just shutting down as the vehicle moves at a high rate of speed and I have to keep pulling over and restarting the vehicle. I luckily have been in areas of low traffic as all of these issues have occurred but there could have been a number of different outcomes had the vehicle locked up while in a higher traffic area traffic. I do not feel that the vehicle is safe to operate and having just had it serviced at two mechanics and neither finding any major issues to cause these problems, I feel that this is a major safety issue with the vehicle itself.

Driving at freeway speed the transmission jumped into 1st gear and the rear differential locked, causing me to swerve and have to take avoiding action in hitting another vehicle. At the same time a check engine light and wrench symbol illuminated in the dash. Upon Diagnosis at my local Ford dealer the memory shows the code PO718 which is a turbine fault on the transmission sensor. This is a Similar fault found on other F150-??s which have been covered by the lead frame replacement program. Ford have informed me that they will not conduct the repair because my VIN has not been recorded as being affected. Clearly the fault has occurred and I need assistance to repair my truck.

I have the same symptoms that are covered under Compliance Recall 12C23, and Customer Satisfaction Program 19N01. Vehicle will sporatically go into limp mode at speed, causing hard shifts. If vehicle is shut off and turned back on, sometimes it will clear the issue on its own. I have reached out to Ford, and they tell me that although they're aware of the same exact issues between 2011 and 2013, my vehicle is not covered due to being a 2014 model year. This is same transmission that was installed in the 2011 to 2013 year vehicles. Currently the replacement part is on backorder. My vehicle has under 150,000 miles as required under the customer satisfaction program. I'd greatly appreciate for some one to look into this, and see if it can be extended to all Fords with the 6r80 transmissions. This is a very well known issue with these transmissions, all should be repaired before major damage or collisions occur.

Had to have lead frame changed in transmission because truck was shifting gears on its own. Some time it would lock the tires up which was a major hazard as the transmission dropped from 4th to 1st while traveling at 40 miles per hour. Also would start in second the shift to 5th one it-??s own.

While driving down the highway, the transmission line rapidly failed and caused the vehicle to stop the motor. This was a sudden and rapid loss of transmission fluid and we were very lucky to be able to control the vehicle over to the side of the road. There were ZERO indicator lights to indicate a transmission fluid leak or issue prior to this sudden issue. When researching online, a Ford Certified Technician confirms that there is one VERY specific place on the transmission lines that ALWAYS breaks on the 6R80 transmissions. It is where the line bends upward to an aluminium quick connect that has failed and does fail on a LOT of these vehicles. Photographic evidence sent to me by my mechanic proved that my lines failed in the exact same place. The video of this issue that was posted by a Ford technician can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?app=desktop&v=xk8tBqh0Q7Y This is a huge safety issue as there is no warning before this fitting fails entirely. We were extremely lucky we were able to get to the side of the road safely.

The contact owns a 2014 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at 65 MPH, the powertrain control module warning light appeared on the instrument panel as the vehicle stalled. The vehicle entered LIMP Mode as the contact managed to coast the vehicle off the highway. The contact was able to restart the vehicle and drove the vehicle to the dealer; however, the warning light disappeared, and the dealer was unable to determine the cause of the failure. After resuming driving, the failure recurred a second time. The vehicle was then taken to Woody Smith Ford (535 S Yellowstone Hwy, Rexburg, ID 83440) to be diagnosed. The mechanic replaced the throttle body and motor. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was filed. The contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 41,000.

While traveling at varying rates of speed, the transmission will shift on its own from 6th gear down to 2nd gear. This issue locks up the back tires while traveling at a high rate of speed and therefore is a huge safety issue. Especially since this happened with my children and wife in the vehicle. This issue has also started to cause multiple other features to not work including the speedometer from time to time. The check engine light does not resister this as a problem and it took Ford lots of convincing of what the actual problem was. There are no warning as to when the issue happens. It is intermittent and seems to have a hard time figuring out what gear the transmission should be in based on the speed of travel. This is a HUGE safety issue as I can be driving a high rate of speed and it downshifts without warning or I can be at a stop light and lose all power to the transmission and the vehicle will not move. Only the rpm-??s will increase but the vehicle does not seem to have power from the power train system. It has been taken to Ford several months ago. They diagnosed the issue. There was a recall for this exact issue for models 2010-2013. My vehicle was 1 month out of recall. This is an issue seeing as it is the same exact problem the previous models are having but the recall only extended to models up to 2013. The dealership has given me the run around and not returned my calls for service for several months.
