Following a recent recall for a sensor that malfunctioned and caused the vehicle to suddenly drop to first gear, the vehicle was sent to a Ford mechanic to update the sensor and supposedly fix the issue. Less than one week following this fix, while driving on a highway at 55-60 mph, the vehicle suddenly dropped to first gear as it was descending a hill and exiting the highway. The vehicle failed to get out of first gear, causing the engine RPMs to over-exert. After pulling over on the shoulder, turning off the engine and allowing it to cool down again, the automatic transmission failed to get out of first gear again.

I recently took my truck to the dealership for the 24S37 recall repair. Later that day, I received a call from the dealership informing me that my truck was ready for pickup. However, approximately 45 seconds after picking it up, I noticed that it was still shifting hard and felt like the transmission was dropping. I immediately contacted the dealership to report the issue. The dealership told me that I could bring the truck back in for another scan but mentioned that if the correct code appeared, I would have to pay for the repairs myself. I decided to take the truck home and parked it, hoping that more information about the recall would become available. Since then, I have called the dealership multiple times, left voice messages, and attempted to get in touch with the service manager, Jeff, but have found it nearly impossible to get a response. I scanned the codes on my truck and identified the following codes: P0715, P0717, and P0731. I am concerned that the recall repair was not completed properly or the initial recall caused that damage and that the issue persists. I am seeking your assistance in ensuring that this matter is resolved appropriately.

The vehicle crashed into the rear of another occupied vehicle. The contact was unsure whether the air bags were deployed. The ambulance transported the contact and the other driver to the hospital, where it was confirmed that no major injuries were sustained and both drivers were checked out of the hospital. The contact stated that both her boyfriend and the other driver sustained body pain. Both vehicles were towed and totaled. A police report was filed. The contact became aware of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V444000(Power Train), which the contact related to the failure. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. Recently took my truck in for the safety recall 24S24. In relation to the sudden transmission downshift power train control module. After the supposed fix, my truck has sudden and jolting downshifting as it did before. This recall fixed absolutely nothing. After a Ford technician completed the transmission recall repair around July 18th 2024, on my 2014 F150, the transmission is worse than before. On 7/27/2024 at 6:10pm while driving in auto, the transmission suddenly downshifted to 3rd and then to1st gear. I was on the way to a baseball game. It did the same downshift again at 6:26pm the same trip. On 7/31/2024 at 6:34am the truck again downshifted abruptly to 1st gear while driving to work. The repair does not work, it is worse now.

Recall 24V444 After getting the recall service on [XXX], I drove the F150 with the tow/haul assist, with a 2024 Casita trailer on two separate trips as described below. The problems occurred on the second trip. For safety reasons, I weighted both the truck and trailer, then just the truck, at our CO-OP, and all numbers were well below GVWR and tongue weight. The trailer has an Anderson hitch for additional safety. The severe downshift occurred 3 times on [XXX]. The first trip with the same setup did not have any problems. This was just after the recall service was performed in St. Cloud Minnesota. The first non-eventful trip was July 10th-14th, was into South Dakota, and no downshifts occurred. The transmission problem started occurring again this week. This week I drove the second trip to Western North Dakota, around Linton. There are relatively small hills there, and the truck experienced a severe downshift 3 times. One time was at about 25 mph, going down a small hill before the entrance to [XXX]. That was on [XXX]. The next day while driving around 55 mph, on [XXX] North towards Bismarck, the truck, again with tow/haul assist on, abruptly downshifted while going down hill twice in about 25 miles. I cancelled the rest of the trip and stayed on relatively flat roads to get back to Minnesota. Today I called the Ford dealership, and they offered to do a transmission diagnosis, but it would cost me $150 as it likely wouldn't be considered warranty work under the recall. Next I called the Ford company at the number on the recall letter dated July 2024. They too said it would not cover diagnostics because they didn't think it was related to the recall just performed, not yet anyway. Questions: There was no accidents, dealer hasn't seen or verified yet, and no warning lights came on. Dealer is welcome to inspect and diagnosis the problem if they waive the cost to me. After having my vehicle inspection was completed I learned that there was a manufacturer-??s recall on the vehicle. I called Unique Ford in Goffstown, NH to schedule the software update. They were very good about scheduling the appointment, however, after they began work on the vehicle I was told their system could not connect to the computer on my vehicle and therefore they could not complete the required update. I was informed that I would have to pay for their diagnosis of the problem as it was not covered under the warranty or the recall notice. My understanding is they are responsible to install the required software update at no charge. This was not the case and the update has not been installed. What is my course of action?

My truck software was updated for the recall even though I was having no problems with the transmission. Post the software update I am having problems with jerking in the downshifting of the truck. After having the recall "fixed" my vehicle is driving worse. When stopped waiting for a parking spot, then mashed the accelerator to get into the parking spot, the engine reved up but the truck wouldn't move forward. I had to put the truck in park then turn the engine off then back on before it would move. Later in the day I was at a stop light, then when the light turned and i mashed the accelerator, it crawled through the stop light even though I had the gas peddle mashed all the way down. Also, I have warning lights on that haven't been on before this "fix" and my speedometer works then doesn't work. It will just quit working while driving down the road. It will not work again until I park the truck, then turn it off then back on. I contacted my local Ford dealership, and they said that wasn't their problem. However, it is since my truck had NEVER had issues until they "fixed" the recall.

My vehicle, 2014 Ford F150, in the months of February 2024, March 2024, with the worst and final occurrence in April of 2024, I was experiencing intermittent downshifting that became more frequent. It occurred at highway speeds and while accelerating from a stop. My safety was put at risk while traveling between 60-70mph on the highway, the transmission had suddenly downshifted to a low gear and caused me to veer into the lane next to me, fortunately I was able to stop, restart, and limp my truck home at about 35mph. I had taken my vehicle to a local, reputable mechanic that has referenced this issue as a well-known problem with the type of transmission on my vehicle. Ultimately, the resolution was a transmission replacement. When the sudden downshifting would happen, an orange wrench would flash for service to be done but would disappear when I would park and restart the engine. I have also enclosed proof of work performed to correct the problem.
