Our 5.0L 6 speed automatic transmission will perform fine, but at random times will downshift, start in 5th, jump from 2 to 4, start and stay stuck in 1st. After cycling the key several times this can clear it out but not always. The downshift is scary and could cause an accident as this has done in recalled vehicle years. It is a matter of time before Ford has to recall the SAME transmission just a different year. The dealership did "flash" the transmission or the vehicle's computer to fix the program just in case a couple of years ago when I bought this. However, even my dealership's parts person said that this sounds identical to the lead frame issue on the earlier models. This is frustrating and dangerous to have these vehicles on the road like this.

While traveling at 60MPH transmission downshifts to 1st gear causing rear end to basically lock up and skidded into oncoming traffic lane. Luckily I didn-??t hit anyone. Transmission also locks into 5th or 3rd gear at a stop and will not shift out. Unpredictable at best, VERY DANGEROUS.

On several occasions while driving at 50+ mph my truck suddenly downshifts from 6th gear to 1st gear causing the rear wheels to lock up and skid. i have taken the vehicle to the dealership and they refuse to do anything because they can not duplicate the issue. this has happened several times the last time was on the freeway causing me to shoot over 2 lanes of traffic almost causing an accident. the ford dealership and the extended warranty company ameriplus both refuse to help because they both say that they can not duplicate the problem but the vehicle comes up with dtc codes p0731 and p0722This is extremely concerning that this will happen when driving at highway speeds and the fact this vehicle is my daily driver and I usually have my kids in the vehicle with me. Im very concerned about the safety of driving now especially after learning this exact issue was recalled on the vehicles a year before mine with three same 6 speed transmission, but not on my year.

Driving 55 mph the truck slammed into 1st gear at the same time rpm shot up then jumped to 3rd gear then stuck in 5th gear i thought they fixed this issue with the update on the ecm in 2013. If it is a problem with the lead on the vehicle speed sensor on the transmission why is that not being replaced instead of making it shift to a higher gear. With it shifting to a higher gear is not a fix its a bandaid for a bigger issue......

I was driving at 45 mph and suddenly, the truck downshifted into low gear and slowed immediately down to about 5 mph. A vehicle following me nearly rear ended me. On more occasions, trying to get off the highway, the trucks motor overreved, then slammed into gear as if it was trying to shift, but couldn-??t. I immediately called Ford Corporate and was told to take it to a dealership. I did this and was told it would be 6 weeks before they can get me in the shop, and that was if that part could be found. I have seen a recall for 2011-2013 F150-??s, but Ford told me that 2014 was not included. This is very dangerous for anyone to have this happen to, luckily, I have many years of experience driving combination vehicles. If I had been towing my 36-?? camper or if this happened to an inexperienced driver, it could have been disastrous. I have since taken it to a small, experienced transmission shop and was told that this is very, very common. Even on 2014 and up. Any 6R80 transmission in a Ford. Please take a look at this and update these model years for everyone-??s safety.

The contact owns a 2014 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving approximately 65 MPH and hauling a trailer, the wrench service light suddenly illuminated and moments later the transmission erroneously down shifted into 1st gear, causing the speed to abruptly reduce and the driver to nearly lose control of the steering. The vehicle was later taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that the powertrain control module was faulty and needed to be reprogrammed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 75,000.

  • 150,000 miles
The contact owns a 2014 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving 65 mph or at highway speeds, the vehicle downshifted to first gear and the rpm revved up to 5,000 rpm, the rear wheels locked up, the vehicle lost traction control and started skidding. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to a certified mechanic however, the mechanic was unable to identify the cause of the failure. The contact stated that the failure was related to NHTSA campaign number: 19V433000 (Power Train) and 19V075000 (Power Train) however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer and it was confirmed that the VIN was not included in the recall. The failure recurred and became more severe. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 150,000.

When driving on the highway going about 50 mph, my speedometer dropped to zero, back up to 35, back to 10, then back to 50 and the truck violently downshifted into 2nd gear, back to 4th, back to 2nd and then back to 5th. It happed again this morning going about 30 mph. It dropped to about 15, back to 25, down to 15, hard shift and the back to 35mph. I have a short video of it happening but can't attach.

while driving on the freeway my 2014 ford f150 suddenly downshifted from 6th gear to 1st gear causing my rear wheels to lock up and having the steering wheel jerk to the left. the car behind me had to swerve to avoid hitting me from behind since the trucks wheels locked up with no brake lights. this has been the 8th time this has happened. each time i take it to ford for them to check it out they tell me they can not duplicate the issue. the wrench light comes on and it throws codes and ford will do nothing to fix it.

Usually on a daily basis and with no correlation to current speed, constant speed, acceleration, decelleration, road surface (highway, city or country) or any other symptoms: suddenly the vehicle bucks violently (feels like it shifts to first gear) while the speedometer either stutters momentafily or drops to 0 MPH. The Tach and other instrument seem to work OK, except that the SEAT BELTWARNING light comes ON (no warning bell, just the instrument panel light) and the display loses all mileage-relayed information (e.g., trip A and B indicators show dashes instead of miles, etc), On occasion, a wrench icon appears on the window that normally shows current mileage. I have researched these symptoms and discovered identical descriptions reported for the F150 which resulted in a recall of something like 20,000 f150's up to year 2013. It looks like the recall problem extends to my 2014 F150 and I would like to know the basis for my vehicle being excluded when it clearly has the same symptoms. I am planning a trip to Vancouver, BC and Colorado, USA to have my vehicle repaired, but the Service Shop advises that the repair parts are not available nationwide because of the above-mentioned recall. As I tow a 5000+ lbs trailer, it is clear that the combined vehicle + trailer combo cannot safely operate with this defect in place.

The contact owns a 2014 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle downshifted with the service engine warning light illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic who was unable to diagnose the failure. The mechanic performed a fluid and maintenance checkup however, the failure returned soon after the repair. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was filed. The contact was also informed that there were no recalls on the vehicle however, he may be entitled to a reimbursement if a recall were to be placed on the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 61,845.

while driving at highway speeds my truck suddenly down shifts from gear 6 to 1. while downshifting the wheels lock up causing them to skid and as a result the steering wheel pulls left. i have almost crashed 2 times. it has happened several times. i see that the same issues were happening on the 2012 and 2013 models and they were issued recalls to get the problem fixed. why not on the 2014 models which is the same truck
