The 2016 F150 with 40,000 miles on the engine had experienced a rough idle and engine stalls. The problem is in able to be predictable recreated causing the dealership to not solve the problem. When the truck was at 12000 miles, many engine parts were replaced to fix this issues however were unsuccessful. The vehicle is becoming difficult to drive or have repaired by the dealer. The vehicle typically rough isles or stalls when coming to a stop or sitting still. This poses a concerns when making a left on a standard green light with oncoming traffic.

2016 Ford F150 V8 engine. Driving down the freeway, my A/C compressor went out. It completely locked up causing the engine to stall and become disabled and could not be restarted. Shortly after, I lost power steering and brakes (as a result of the engine loss) which created a safety issue on a freeway at 10:30pm at night as I had to get the vehicle over lanes of traffic without power steering and ease of braking and bring the vehicle to a stop without power assisted brakes. Thankfully, we were able to get over, but I don't know that everyone would be so lucky. I don't think an A/C compressor breaking internally should disable the vehicle's engine unless something is fundamentally wrong with the construction of the compressor. I could see accidents occurring as a result of the engine becoming disabled.

I was completing a 3 hour drive of approximately 120 miles (I had less than 5 miles to go till I arrived at my destination) when my sensors started lighting up my message board and dash system. I was in the left turn lane to enter the on-ramp to US65 South when this happened so I pulled off to the shoulder to investigate. I had just put my truck in park when a car pulled up and said that my engine was on fire. When I got out to look, the fire was rolling out from under the drivers side wheel well. As well, there was either a fluid or melted plastic dripping down to the asphalt that was also on fire. The fire appeared to put itself out, for the most part, prior to the fire company arriving within the next 10 minutes. I had, what I believed to be at the time, recall work done by mike raisor Ford in lafayette, in, less than 1 year ago. In that recall work, I thought the block heater was disconnected so as to prevent an engine fire such as this. Now, I am having doubts as to whether this was completely disconnected. NHTSA campaign number is 18V894000 and Ford recall number is 18S45.

The truck began to make a loud, clunky noise, allthewhile it was slowing down and then eventually came to a stop and was not driveable anymore. We were driving in a neighborhood when it stalled. It would not move. It would turn on, but it would not accelerate. It still made the clunky, loud noise.

Intermittently while towing, after driving several hundred miles of non stop highway driving, the engine will kill after exiting the freeway. When I restart it by turning the key, it will kill again as soon as I put it in drive. This will happen several times before I get the engine to keep running. This happens only in the tow/haul mode. I have been to my local dealership 3 times and they have not been able to fix the problem.

Vehicle engine shakes and shuts off when stopped and at idle. This happens after vehicle warms up and has been driven for at least 15 minutes. I have read many other complaints about Ford trucks doing the same thing. Have read that Ford is aware of problems with variable cam timing sensors and cam phasers, but are not issuing recall. This has happened to me at leadt 6 times.

Engine stalls while driving. This has happened multiple times where multiple warning lights will flash on the dashboard such as the collision detection being disabled and the electronic stability control has been disabled. As soon as these warnings appear, the truck's acceleration is disabled and it will coast to stop, but he truck is still running. It remains in a low idle that is very rough, vibrating the entire truck like it's about to kill the engine, but barely keeping the idle high enough to keep it going. This has happened at different speeds and there is nothing you can do, but try to pull off the road. Once stopped, you can put the truck in park and turn the truck off and back on. Sometimes only one restart is required, but sometimes it will do the same thing again shortly after you begin driving again. This can be extremely dangerous as this can happen in an intersection, highway, or freeway. There is no warning when this is about to happen.

Attempting to accelerate, no power. Vehicle was on 2 lane highway with concrete barriers on both sides and no shoulder. I was going approx 70 mph. I had our toddler, new born and wife in then vehicle. Vehicle slowed faster than I have ever felt before. Cars and trailers slamming on brakes. I'm assuming this did not trigger my brake lights and it was almost dark. So incredibly dangerous not to mention scary. Dash warnings indicated no traction control, hill decent or ABS. Dealer is replacing the throttle body. This was a catastrophic and dangerous flaw.

While using my vehicle under normal conditions the check engine light came on so I had vehicle checked at autozone and O'reily's which showed 2 different codes and took it to machaik dealership. Turns out I had to have both cylinder heads replace, crankshaft bolt replaced as well as a few other items. I was told it was an issue that Ford was aware of and didn't notify me of it when I bout the vehicle. They covered the cost due to the vehicle being under warranty which was about $5,000. $ months later I got my vehicle back and about 30 miles of driving 55mph it started blowing a thick cloud of white smoke with some grey smoke. I take the vehicle home and let it sit for 28 days before I have to use it and after about 23 miles it started smoking again. I take it to the same dealership again and I told them about the smoking issue, rough idle and the exhaust smells like gas which is not normal. I showed them a video of the issue which contains my mileage at the time and my license plate which clearly shows my vehicle so they cannot say it wasn't my vehicle. Waiting for the results of their findings and plan to update the complaint. I will not upload the video at this time due to it containing my license plate, don't know how to upload it from phone and I don't know how to edit that out. If it is necessary to update this complaint I will upload the video as proof as well as work order from previous and current work.my mileage will not be 100% accurate but it will be within 400 miles plus or minus

Hill descent control fault/ service advancetrac warning suddenly turned on. Alternated w service light. But I was just driving home from work on a 70 degree day on a dry paved road decelerating from a 40mph zone to a 30 mph zone up a slight incline. I wasn't using hill descent and traction was fine. The disturbing part was the vehicle suddenly ran rough and had no power. I could not get it to run well enough pull it over out of the traffic lane. An on off cycle returned function for a few seconds and I got around the corner before the fault occurred again. With no hills the last block I got to my driveway where a longer off period returned the vehicle to function. This type of sudden power loss could cause an accident.

Truck experienced multiple sensor failures over several months that reset. Failures include car stalling in intersection, blind spot monitoring, back up sensors, car shutting off and turning back on on its own. Car had to be powered down and shut off for 30 seconds before being allowed to restart. Most recent failure resulted in truck horn going off as well as car turning off while going 35-40 mph then restarting on its own - car surged forward after it restarted itself. At the same time hazards coming on, doors unlocking and locking and rear tailgate opening. After bringing car to a complete stop, shut off car and it turned itself back on (horn went off, hazards went on, doors unlocked and locked, and rear tail gate released). Towed to dealership for repairs and they were unable to recreate the problem.
