Downshift is causing truck to jolt. Truck was previously taken to Ford dealer to repair this specific issue and was told it was repaired/resolved but keeps occurring.

Transmission will change gears while driving. I can be driving 45 mph in traffic, truck will automatically shift and I'm now going 15 and cannot speed up. There is no warning lites on dash before issue occurs. Called dealership who had no solutions to offer. I cannot be the only one experiencing this issue from reading online forums and Ford needs to be held accountable for faulty equipment. This is a safety issue in traffic for my family.

We purchased this vehicle approximately 6 months ago. On our second long trip of owning it we noticed that when we would give it gas to pass vehicles it would down shift and up shift hard. No warning/error lights came on. We dud have a diagnostic check done but nothing came up. The mechanic at Nicely's said it could be the clutch bank? I read where these similar trucks are having the same issues with shifting and there are some recalls on them. Please help..my warranty was only good for 6 months therefore expired. Where and how to we go from here.

While driving vehicle at 60 mph transmission shifted unexpectedly to a lower gear increasing the rpm-??s on engine. Vehicle transmission would not operate normally after this incident. The orange colored warning -?? wrench-?? symbol instantly came on after this incident. I drove truck to a Ford Dealership that was close by and they replaced the lead frame component on the truck. See attachment for details of repair. This appears to have corrected the issue with the transmission.

The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving 65 MPH and accelerating to overtake another vehicle, the transmission unexpectedly downshifted, and the vehicle jerked hard and then shut off. The contact was able to coast to the side of the road, shift to park, and restart the vehicle. While driving 35 MPH, the rear wheels locked up momentarily and then continued moving. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer, who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact called an independent mechanic to schedule an appointment. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 72,000. The VIN was not available.

The truck will spontaneously downshift when driving. This creates a intense bang and vibration in the vehicle with an instantaneous speed change of vehicle. It's quite scary when it happens. I don't believe that it's any good for the drive shaft or rear end with such a sudden instantaneous transmission shift. I fear for additional damage it to the vehicle and the existing drivetrain when this occurs and could cause an accident if someone is following too close to the back of me when this happens.

I have had transmission gear changes abruptly/rough on my 6 speed 2017 XLT F150. It seems to happen more often downshifting from 4th to 3rd gear. I reported this to dealer early after purchase when I still had factory waranty. Dealer inspected and answered that -??this is normal.-??

Loss of gear at highway speeds. Went from 10th gear to 1st. Tires locked up and an error for the drive train showed up on the dash. Pulled over, restarted vehicle and it seemed to work. This has happened 3 times since. I was luck that no vehicles were around me or I would have caused an accident and potentially chasing injury to myself, my family or another driver. Dealership was not able to locate issue. Told me to keep driving and report back when it happens again.

The contact stated that while driving with the cruise control activated and set to 77 MPH, the transmission unexpectedly downshifted to first gear, causing the vehicle to jerk violently. The vehicle made an abnormal whistling sound, with the RPM revving high. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, the contact was informed that no cause of transmission failure was found. The vehicle was not repaired and remained at the dealer. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V075000 (Power Train); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to file a complaint with the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 172,000.

After I purchased a RV and making the trip home, we went through several stop lights. As we were slowing down to make a stop at light, the vehicle made an abrupt downshift. Seemed like it was in fourth gear and went in to first or second gear. The vehicle jerked and the rpm went to around 6000. I thought my engine was going to blow up!! Scary and felt dangerous! Then it happened again approximately 10 miles down the road. I haven't experienced this since this date but I haven't pulled anything since then either. Please make this a recall. It isn't just the 2014 model. I have V8 5.0 6 speed transmission. Please help.

The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-150. While the contact's son was driving 70 MPH, the transmission independently downshifted with several unknown warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that the rear wheels locked up and the vehicle skidded. The vehicle was taken to a nearby Dodge dealer and the computer was reset; however, the failure reoccurred 50 miles later. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed with electrical components failure inside the transmission, and there were metal shavings inside the oil pan. The contact was informed that the transmission fluid, filter, and electrical components in the transmission needed to be replaced. The dealer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 115,000.

The vehicle-??s rear wheels temporarily locked up when coming to a stop. Fortunately it was only under 30mph. Vehicle later got stuck in 3rd gear driving in town, check engine light did come on with DTC p0717. It is the same issue that 2014 F150 with the 6r80 transmissions are having.
